Chapter 9 Pinocchio arrives at the "Isle of Hardworking Bees"

At dawn the next day, Pinocchio said goodbye to the farmer and went to the wood where the fairy sister lived.

When he came to the woods, Pinocchio found that the fairy sister's white house was gone, so he called the fairy sister while looking for it.However, no one answered him.

"Sister Fairy? Where is she? I'm looking for her everywhere." Pinocchio asked eagerly.

"Ever since you left, Sister Fairy has been waiting for you here, but several months have passed, and you haven't come back. Sister Fairy thought you didn't want her anymore, and she was very sad, so she left here, saying that she would never come back." I won't come back," said the pigeon.

Hearing the pigeon's words, Pinocchio felt very sad. His tears flowed down, and he said, "Sister Fairy, how could I not want you? Thanks to you for saving me, I didn't know what to do." I want to repay you. It’s just that I was too disobedient, so I made you angry again. But, sister fairy, no matter where you go, I will find you back. The pigeon said: "I don't know where the fairy has gone. She didn't tell anyone when she left, but I saw your father a few days ago."

"I saw him at the seaside three days ago. He was about to build a boat, and he planned to sail across the ocean to find you. He has been looking for you for four full months. What a pity!" The pigeon sighed.

When Pinocchio heard this, he couldn't help crying again. He felt that he was too sorry for his father.Then, he wiped away his tears and asked, "How far is it from here to the sea?"

"Then what shall I do? How long will it be before I see my father?" said Pinocchio anxiously.

"Don't worry, child, I can take you there." The pigeon said, and it circled three times in the air, its body grew several times at once, and its wings became as big as those of an eagle, "My child , sit on my back, and I will take you to the sea."

Pinocchio hurriedly climbed onto the back of the dove, and the dove flapped its wings vigorously a few times, and they flew up into the sky.Pinocchio had never been to such a high place before. He felt very curious and wanted to see the scenery below.He glanced down, but immediately closed them in fear. He hugged the pigeon's neck tightly, for fear that he would fall, and only heard the whistling of the wind in his ears.

They flew in the sky for a long time, and the pigeons didn't stop until it was almost dark.They stop by a small stream, and the dove tells Pinocchio to pick some wild fruit to satisfy his hunger and drink some of the stream's water to quench his thirst.Pinocchio used to peel pears, but now he was very thirsty and hungry, so he ate whatever he saw.I saw him eating the wild fruits and drinking the stream water in big mouthfuls. He felt that the wild fruits were very fragrant and the stream water was very sweet.

After eating, it was completely dark.In order to meet Pinocchio's father earlier, the dove flew into the sky again.The stars in the sky are twinkling, and there are countless stars, as if they can be plucked with one hand.But Pinocchio was not in the mood to look at the stars, he just hoped to fly to his father as soon as possible.

The next morning, when they finally reached the sea, the dove put down Pinocchio and flew away, because it did not want to be thanked by others for its good deeds.

Pinocchio saw that the beach was full of people, all looking anxiously at the sea, shouting and gesticulating.

"What happened?" Pinocchio asked an old man beside him.

"Well, a poor old man is dying to find his son. He wants to go to the other side of the sea in a boat to find him. But, with such a storm, the boat will be swallowed up sooner or later. I'm afraid even the best sailors can save him now." It’s gone.” The old man said while shaking his head.

Pinocchio looked out to the sea, and saw a small boat heaving up and down in the strong wind and waves on the sea far, far away, and it was in danger of capsizing at any moment.Even the bravest sailors would turn pale with fright when they saw it.People stood on the shore and prayed silently for the old people in the boat.

At this moment, Pinocchio recognized that the man on board was his father Geppetto, and suddenly he was frightened and shouted: "Papa! Papa!"

Pinocchio ran up to the rock in desperation, took off his hat and kept waving it, shouting with all his strength: "Papa! I'm Pinocchio! Papa! Come back..."

Geppetto also seems to have recognized Pinocchio, for he too greets Pinocchio with his hat up, beckoning him to come back in the boat at once.However, the wind on the sea became stronger and the waves became bigger, and the boat bumped on the sea with the wind and waves.Suddenly, a huge wave threw the boat into the air, and then the boat fell out of sight.

The people on the shore exclaimed in unison: "My God, the big waves swept the boat away!"

Pinocchio also saw this terrible scene, and he cried out heart-piercingly: "Father, I will save you!" Then he jumped into the vast sea and swam towards his father with all his strength.

Fortunately, Pinocchio was made of wood, and no amount of wind and waves could roll him to the bottom of the sea.He looked for his father everywhere in the sea.However, not even a plank was seen on the sea.

"Papa must have sunk to the bottom of the sea..." cried Pinocchio in despair.

Pinocchio swam in the sea all day and all night, exhausted all his strength, and couldn't swim any more.The wind and waves at sea did not stop at all, but it started to rain heavily.Pinocchio is at the mercy of the wind and floats with the waves.

Later, big waves washed Pinocchio onto an island.Pinocchio felt pain all over his body, and he lay on the beach until the sun rose in the east, and he found the strength to sit up.

"Shark? What does a shark look like?"

Pinocchio came out into the street and saw that everyone had something to do and no one was idle.When people found Pinocchio, they all looked at him with strange eyes.

"Whose child is this? He's wandering the streets instead of going to school!" People asked each other, because they couldn't bear idlers.

Pinocchio hadn't eaten for a long time, and he wanted to ask for something to eat.At this time, he saw a kind-hearted old man, and he stepped forward and said, "Grandpa, please do me a favor, give me something to eat."

The old man glanced at him and said, "I have lived so long, and I have never seen anyone begging from others. My child, you are so healthy, you should find a job and exchange your labor for bread."

Pinocchio thought: "The old man must be confused. Instead of giving food to eat, he even lectures people. I don't bother to talk to him."

So he continued on.He saw an uncle pulling a cart of coal, sweating profusely.Pinocchio said to him, "Uncle, please give me a dollar to buy something to eat. I'm starving to death."

"Okay!" said the uncle, "Son, as long as you help me pull the car home, I can give you four dollars."

In this way, Pinocchio begged for a long time, but no one gave him food. They all advised him to rely on his own labor to earn bread.However, Pinocchio hated labor the most. He would rather wander around idly than work.

Pinocchio looked at the crock, but said nothing.

But Pinocchio remained silent.

The bonbons aroused Pinocchio's interest, and he said, "Okay, then I will help you take this jar of water home."

So Pinocchio helped his sister-in-law bring the water home, and the sister-in-law brought him a lot of delicious food.Pinocchio chewed with great gulp, wishing he could pour all the food into his mouth.When Pinocchio had finished his meal, the sister-in-law came out again with bonbons.Pinocchio glanced at her, and suddenly, with his mouth opened wide, he sat motionless.
