Chapter 16 Observing Liars' Emotional Vulnerabilities

Chapter 16 Observing Liars' Emotional Vulnerabilities
The FBI pointed out that not all lies are about emotions, but any emotion involved will cause trouble for the liar. While a liar is trying his best to conceal his true intentions, flaws will inevitably appear in his expression.

Even if a liar keeps covering up his emotions, he often cannot get rid of his emotions, and once emotions intervene, the possibility of lying is much greater. For this reason, the FBI proposed that as long as a person is careful enough, any emotion may make the lie leak out.

§§§Section [-] Liar's Anger and Sensitivity
FBI personnel, based on years of observation, found that liars like to feign anger and often blush.

1. Liars feign anger

Some people will fake anger after telling a lie, often adding hand and arm movements for emphasis in order to make themselves look really angry. This kind of action seems to be "adding" or "making up" after the event. Not only is it "half a beat", but it also seems mechanical, and it is inconsistent with the tone of speech.

When we catch these signals, we can basically judge that he (she) is lying. It is not easy to hide emotions, and it is even more difficult to fake emotions that are not there at all.Even if it's a disguise, a master liar can see some clues. For example, if someone says, "I'm mad at you" or "I'm scared to death", it's normal to have a very obvious expression on your face. If you have no expression on your face, you must be lying.

2. Liars are sensitive and shy

Some people are very sensitive to lying, and they are often very shy after lying. The most common expression is-blush.

Most of these people have been taught since childhood that "lying is a heinous crime".If someone has ever said that a person who blushes is not a naive and innocent girl, it may be said that he has done something he should not have done.

§§§Section [-] Fear and mood swings of liars

FBI personnel, based on years of observation, have also discovered that no matter how clever a liar is, they actually have some fear in their hearts, and this fear can be captured on the liar's face.Plus, the secret of the liar's mood swings couldn't escape the eyes of FBI investigators.

1.liar with fear

If the liar is just telling a little lie, then there probably isn't much fear in his facial expression.Because he has the bottom of his heart, even if he is caught by a liar, he won't be in too much trouble.

However, if a person lies a lot, even if he tries his best to hide it, some good liar catchers can still see the signal of fear in his subtle expression.

The amount of fear on the liar's face depends on the liar's psychological quality, and more importantly, on what kind of liar he is facing. If the other party is soft-footed and tender, of course there won't be many expressions of worrying about being seen through. If the other party is a shrewd liar catcher, the constant fear of being seen through will make everything exposed faster.

2. Liars have mood swings

The speed at which a liar's emotions emerge is difficult to fake.Just watch carefully and you won't be fooled by liars.Since a fake emotional response does not occur naturally, it will appear slightly delayed, last longer than a genuine emotional response, and then "suddenly" disappear.

The "horrified, surprised" emotional response is a perfect example. This kind of emotion comes and goes quickly. If it lasts for too long, it means that this kind of reaction is very likely to be faked. When we pretend to be horrified and surprised, we usually maintain a frightened, terrified expression, but this trick will not fool a shrewd liar.

§§§Section [-] Liars have disjointed facial expressions and actions, and their smiles are fake
With many years of investigation experience, the FBI personnel can say responsibly that a person with a disjointed expression and a smile on the face must have ulterior secrets.

1. Liars have disjointed expressions and actions

If a woman says "I love you" to her boyfriend with a frown, it's sending conflicting messages.Significant inconsistencies between facial expressions and spoken words indicate that the speaker is lying.

It's better to say: the man shakes his fist while trying to say "I love you" to his girlfriend. For another example, some people say some nice and pleasant words, but hold their hands tightly, which may be a signal of lying.

2. A liar smiles without smiling
Deceitful expressions often appear on the mouth.Any expression can be used as a camouflage to disguise other expressions, and the smile is the most commonly used of them.A genuine, natural smile will light up the whole face; but if it's just a forced smile, the mouth should be tightly shut and the eyes and forehead should not be pulled.A smile that doesn't draw your entire face is a sign of deceit.

Very subtle expressions are often the key to our ability to identify lies.A more complex and common phenomenon is: talking big and bluffing. When a man feels that his disguise has failed, he usually covers it up quickly with a smile. And some people hide their true inner feelings by talking big and bluffing, which lasts longer than subtle changes in expression.
