Chapter 8 Your Temperament Type Will Betray You
Psychologists divide human temperament into four categories, which are rational, guardian, craftsman and idealist. The FBI points out that there are commonalities in each type of person, which provides clues to how to spot the lies of different people.

§§§ Section [-] Myles Briggs' Personality Classification
American psychologist Myles Briggs classified personality into four types: extroverted and introverted, thinking and emotional, intuitive and rational, and perceiving and judging. The strong link between temperament and lying can be better understood based on Myers-Briggs' classification of personality.

1. Extroverted and introverted personalities

This pair of rules is characterized by exploring where people get their motivation.

Extroverts like to get their motivation from the outside world, from being with other people.Extremely extroverted people are rarely alone for long, and even when they are sick, they like to be boisterous.Extroverts are known for "thinking with your mouth and making sentences with your tongue." These people like new things, adapt well to new situations, and tend to take risks.Because their bodies are more connected to the outside world, their body language is easier to read than introverts.

Introverts like to gain motivation from their own independent thoughts and activities, and such people usually recharge themselves according to personal interests and habits. They need their own space and tend to have more privacy.Extremely introverted people often mutter to themselves when they are alone because they like to rehearse things for themselves before opening their mouths. When exposed to new things, they are more willing to figure out or practice alone.

2. Thinking and emotional personality

This pair of rules describes how people make decisions and how much they attach to facts.

Thinking people pay more attention to facts, and they rely on rigorous analysis to make decisions.Emotional people usually make decisions based on the following factors: feelings, values, social conventions, influence on others, how others feel, etc.For emotional people, facts also influence the decisions they make, but they don't play a leading role.

These two types of people are quite likely to make the same decision, but they use different methods. For example, in a couple, one is a thinking person and the other is an emotional person.Although they may choose to buy the same car when buying a car, the reasons for choosing are very different.A thinking person will conduct detailed investigation and research, and the final reason for him to make a decision is that the price is right, the size is satisfactory, the fuel consumption is acceptable, and the appearance is similar.Emotional people no doubt have no objection to the above reasons, but the main reason that affects her is that her parents also have a similar car, so it will make her feel very comfortable. For emotional people, if the color is also her favorite, and the manufacturer has a good reputation, that would be great.

3. Intuitive and rational personalities
This pair of rules is used to describe how people collect information.

Intuitive people don't want to be bound by rules. They like to rely on their "sixth sense" to find problems that are not easily found by others or not easily confirmed by data.Innovative and good at creating new things. For such people, as long as they can develop new things, breaking the rules is the most common thing.Although Intuitives are highly creative, they are average at solving current problems and implementing current technologies.

Rational people like the world as it is. The way they search for information is like creating a new thing with their own hands. They do things very systematically and methodically, and they are usually regarded as step-by-step and methodical people.Such people make decisions based only on facts.Intuitives think they have no imagination and are too bound by the world.

4. Perceiving and judging personalities

This pair of rules is used to measure how people manage their personal lives.

Perceiving people are like stackers.Their offices or bedrooms are usually a mess. For them, plans and deadlines serve as guidelines only.Such people live in a world of possibilities.Once a certain decision is made, it feels like it limits all other decisions, so perceiving people are always rethinking and readjusting.Such people are usually procrastinators, not because they are irresponsible, but because they always want to wait until the end, when they have a better idea before making a decision. This type of person gets their motivation from living a "keep it open" life. Those who expect perfection from their spouses are usually Perceiving types.

Judging people think that everything that happens in life should have a right way. "Correct" here means "structured" or "ordered".People of this type want the environment in which they live to be as neat and orderly as they imagine.Usually they will put work first, do things with plans, have goals, have a strong sense of time, and are good at summarizing and analyzing.Given their organizational skills, this type of person looks like a document manager.

According to Myles Briggs, Judging people often make to-do lists and act on them, Insight people make lists too, and often lose the list; Will make their own plans, and Perceiving people do not make plans for the day until the morning.

§§§ Section [-] Rational Temperament and Lies
A Rationalist is a combination of two personality types, Intuitive and Thinking.Experts say they have "very good strategic analysis skills".In military terms, such people are general material. The characteristics of people with rational temperament are: good ability, strong self-control and firm will.

Reasonable people are not good at lying.People with a Rational Temperament appear awkward and even a little embarrassed when they lie. They start by revealing a little and then, under pressure, make a full confession.Deborah said: "In my experience, it is very easy to tell if they are lying. Because their body language will tell you that they are upset and stutter." Since rational people have always been capable and efficient so when you expose him as a liar, he will feel very humiliated.

Rational people are not used to lying because they are natural leaders who spend most of their time thinking about how to make their subordinates work better, or convincing others with their personal wit and charisma.Lying is not a leader's behavior, it is really detrimental to personal image.

§§§ Section [-] Guardian Temperament and Lies
Guardians are a combination of rational and judgmental personality types. They are practical communicators, gathering information through external channels, and then using proven methods to bring people together to solve problems together.

Guardians strive to maintain the status quo and value hard work.People with a Guardian temperament are respectable, kind and trustworthy. As a rule, Guardians never lie. When faced with a situation in which to lie, they say, "I can't tell you." Guardians are very principled and try to avoid situations that require lying.Such people are easy to read.

§§§ Section [-] Artisan Temperament and Lies
Artisans are a combination of the two personality types Rational and Perceptual. This type of person is very concerned with having fun and doing things. They are also literal communicators, also gathering information through external channels and using their perceptions to judge possibilities.Kelsey's evaluation is: elegant, bold, and adaptable.

Artisans will tell you the same facts, and that's good enough for them. They love fun and experiences, and their careers are usually pilots, airborne paramedics, professional skydivers or actors.Their logic is usually: "If I tell you a little fact, that's enough." We can also read it like this: "If you ask me what happened within 10 yards, then I will tell you what happened within 50 yards." , I told you the truth.” With this type of liar, you need to keep digging for details. In the end, they may tell you the whole truth. However, they don't show an ounce of jitteriness, and for this reason they're less likely to let you catch clues about what they're hiding. For them, lying is like playing a game, and they can have a lot of fun doing it.

When you start to pay attention to the details of spotting a liar, you will find that the way people obtain information, the way they categorize information, and the type of personality and temperament they belong to can be very useful. They can help you understand how and why other people think. This will help you eliminate the prejudice you have formed, take off the "filter", and see the truth more clearly.

§§§Section [-] ideal temperament and lies
The Idealist is a combination of the two personality types, Intuitive and Emotional.People with this temperament are dependable, charitable, and compassionate. These people place great value on a harmonious atmosphere.

Idealist's ability to lie is first-rate.When they feel compelled to lie, they will use their gift of ostentatious speech to describe to you what happened, all made up, of course. They have a very good ability to fake fakes and can weaken the physical signs of lying. At the same time, they are particularly good at finding solutions and are willing to help others.Usually like to work on workflow improvements, so the next step is always sketched out ahead of time, and it's all new and new things that have never been done before. They lie because they want to maintain a harmonious relationship.

Although immature idealists are also good at lying, they will be more or less contradictory in their hearts. The ideal person is an expert at understanding others, knowing what to say, and how to design it so that others will do what they want.

But don't misunderstand that Idealists genuinely like to lie, or that they have a tendency to cheat. In fact, they are very concerned about the morality of lying. They just feel better about lying than other types.
