Chapter 2
When I was six years old, I read a book describing the primeval forest, which told many stories about the jungle. For example, the book describes a bread tree, which is a big, round tree that can grow very tall and bear delicious bread; fat hippos; and golden lions with manes all over their faces.
I like this book very much, because the illustrations on it are very beautiful, they look novel and interesting, children will like it very much. What impressed me the most was an illustration in the book, which showed a big and thick boa constrictor eating an elephant. There is also a simple introduction written next to the illustration, of course, this kind of introduction can generally be understood by children. The description reads: "Boa constrictors swallow their prey straight away and lie down for six months to digest the food in their stomachs."
Because of this book, I am full of curiosity about everything in the jungle. Whenever I have time, I read this book over and over again, and study my favorite illustration of a python eating an elephant.
So, one day, I finally made up my mind, I think I will be a painter in the future, so that I can draw what I like.
I will never forget the excitement and excitement I felt when I first drew with colored pencils. My first drawing was of a boa constrictor who fell asleep after eating an elephant.
When I showed this painting to my parents, I proudly asked them if they would be intimidated by my drawing.
But they said, it's a hat, what's there to be afraid of?
However, what I drew was not a hat, but a giant python sleeping after eating an elephant!I was very depressed to hear what my parents said about my paintings.Later, I thought about why they couldn't understand my painting, maybe I didn't draw the elephant in the python's stomach.
So, I drew my second picture, this time I also drew the elephant in the python's stomach.
After the painting was finished, I showed the second painting to the adults, but they still didn't know what I was painting.
Finally, they said to me: "You should study geography, history, arithmetic and grammar well, and stop drawing these snakes with open bellies or big bellies, so that you will be a useful person."
In this way, I quickly gave up my dream of being a painter, discouraged by the failure of my first and second paintings.Adults don't understand my childhood dreams, I keep explaining to them what I draw, they still don't understand, it frustrates me.Then I grew up, learned to fly a plane, and started traveling around.
At this time, the geography I learned when I was a child helped me a lot. I could see what kind of terrain was below at a glance on the plane.
Even if I lost my way at night, I could find the right direction based on the astronomy knowledge I had learned. I have to admit that what I learned before was very useful to me.
When I was growing up, I had a lot of dealings with a lot of serious people, lived among them for a long time, I watched them carefully and studied their behavior patterns, but I felt that they were no different from my parents.
Whenever I meet a grown-up who looks smart, I show him my first drawing and ask him what he sees, wondering if he can actually read it.But, I always get the same answer as my mom and dad, and they say, "It's a hat."
In this way, instead of talking to him about the pythons and elephants I read about when I was a kid, I would talk about topics he liked, such as bridge, golf, or politics. When I told them this, they obviously had a good time talking to me and thought I was as smart as they were.
