Chapter 71

Original
Persuade each other with kindness, and all virtues are built;
If you go through irregularities, you will lose both ways.

Translation
Friends should dissuade each other and try their best to do good deeds, and the qualities of both parties will be improved and perfected; if friends make mistakes but do not know how to dissuade them, the morals of both parties will be damaged.

In the state of Chu, there was a man who was good at physiognomy. He never made mistakes in judging people's good and evil, and he had a good reputation.When King Zhuang of Chu heard about this strange man, he summoned him and asked him what secrets he had. He said, "I don't have so many great secrets. I'm just a friend who is good at observing him. Look at ordinary people, if his friends are loyal and filial, and abide by the law, then his family business will become more and more prosperous, and his life will be more and more comfortable. Look at an official, if his friends are loyal and honest , high-quality, and do his best to do good deeds, then he will be able to do things more and more smoothly, and his official position will definitely be higher and higher." It can be seen how important it is to choose a good friend.
