Chapter 65 The August [-]th Conference Holds the "Guns" Tightly

——What should I do if I walk to a water-poor place, walk out of a new road and walk into a dead end?Of course, you have to rely on your feet to make a way.The important thing is that we need to be calm and we need to think.

In 1927, the Nanjing Nationalist Government headed by Chiang Kai-shek and Wang Jingwei and the Wuhan Nationalist Government successively betrayed the Great Revolution and massacred the Communists. In this critical situation, the Party Central Committee held a meeting in Hankou on August 8 of that year. The meeting was presided over by Qu Qiubai, the person in charge of the Party Central Committee. Attending the meeting were 7 members of the Central Committee including Deng Zhongxia, Li Weihan, and Cai Hesen, 10 alternate members including Mao Zedong, as well as members of the Central Supervisory Committee, representatives of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, representatives of the Military Commission, representatives of Hubei and Hubei, and representatives of the Communist International. There are more than 5 people including Rominaz and others. At the meeting, Comintern representative Rominaz made a report on "The Party's Past Mistakes and New Line".Qu Qiubai made a work report on behalf of the Central Standing Committee.Mao Zedong made a speech at the meeting. He sharply criticized the right-leaning capitulationist mistakes of Chen Duxiu and others, emphasized that the Communist Party must solve the peasant's land problem, and pointed out that the Communist Party "will pay great attention to military affairs in the future, and we must know that power is won by the barrel of a gun." ".

The meeting passed the "August 7th Conference of the Communist Party of China Report to All Party Members", "Recent Resolutions on Peasant Struggles", "Resolutions on Recent Labor Movements", "Resolutions on Party Organization Issues", and elected the Provisional Political Bureau of the Central Committee.Su Zhaozheng, Qu Qiubai, Luo Yinong, Gu Shunzhang, Wang Hebo, Li Weihan, Peng Pai, and Ren Bishi were elected as members of the Politburo, and Deng Zhongxia, Zhou Enlai, Mao Zedong, Peng Gongda, Zhang Tailei, Zhang Guotao, and Li Lisan were elected as alternate members of the Politburo.

The August [-]th Conference mainly resolved three issues: First, it ended the rule of Chen Duxiu’s right-leaning capitulationism in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and established a new central leadership organization.Second, the policy of the agrarian revolution was determined, and it was proposed that "the fundamental content of the revolution is the agrarian revolution."Regarding the issue of the Land Revolution, the meeting stipulated that the land of large and medium landlords and temples and temples should be confiscated and distributed to tenant farmers and landless peasants.Third, the general policy of an armed uprising to overthrow the Kuomintang rule was established. The meeting clearly stated: "At present, the general policy of our party should be: prepare and organize armed riots in the provinces that have become the centers of the peasant movement."And decided to launch the Autumn Harvest Uprising in Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, and Guangdong provinces with a good revolutionary foundation.

The "August [-]th" meeting has made great historical achievements. At the critical juncture of the revolution, it reversed the chaotic situation within the party, reorganized the party and the revolutionary ranks, and formulated a new line for the Chinese Communist Party to continue under the new historical conditions. Leading the Chinese revolution pointed the way.Since then, the Chinese revolution has entered a new stage of the armed revolution of workers and peasants centered on the agrarian revolution.

However, the meeting did not properly assess the balance of power between the revolution and the counter-revolution at that time, and thus failed to formulate the correct strategy. The meeting only criticized the right deviation, but did not pay attention to correcting and preventing the "left", sowing the seeds for "left" adventurism.

Wisdom Interpretation:

If one day, we encounter great difficulties in doing things, we don't have to blame others, don't have to be angry, go to the poor place, and sit and watch the clouds rise.If you want to make a bright future, you first need a calm mind, find the crux of the problem, and only then can you find a solution!
