The hexagram "Gen" is also called "Gen is the mountain".

"Xu Gua Zhuan" said: "Things can't stop moving, stop it, so they receive it. "Gen" means stop." "Zhen" brings a yang, but "shock" is also "drift"— —Unstable, and people always want to find a good home for themselves, so the hexagram "Gen" closely follows the hexagram "Zhen".

"Shuowen": "Gen, very." "Gen" expresses sound, and most of them have the meaning of hardness or continuation.For example, the hard heart is "hate", the metal is "silver", the edge of the pupil is "eye", the extension of the earth is "yin", etc. That is to say, "gen" is both "stop" and "go". "Gen" is another double-meaning word with opposite meanings. It is very similar to our eyeballs, which can be fixed on one place or kept turning away.

So the main meaning of this hexagram is not to stop, but to follow - to find a "guide" that can be relied on, so as to embark on the road to success as soon as possible.Many facts have proved that this is a "shortcut" in life.

"Translation"

The hexagram "Gen" symbolizes Yangzhi: follow behind him, but don't catch up with him; find his home, but also disappear. (Continues to search) There is no disaster.

The sixth line of the first day follows in its footsteps, without fault.It is beneficial to stick to the right way for a long time.

Liu Eryao, following his steps, but unable to take care of the "queue", made him very unhappy.

Nine and three lines, bending over following him, strained the back muscle, the reason is that he was too fast and "greedy".

Six and four lines, following by his side, there is no fault.

"彖" said: "Gen", stop.When the time stops, it stops, when the time goes, it goes; when the movement is still, the way is bright.Gen Qizhi, stop where it is.Up and down the enemy should be, not with each other.Therefore, "you don't get your body; you walk in your court, but you don't see your person. There is no blame".

"Translation"

"Tuan Ci" says: "Gen" hexagram is a symbol of Yang Zhi.According to different tenses, stop when you stop, and go when you walk; both movement and stillness are just right, and the road ahead is naturally bright. The stop expressed in "Gen" is to follow the right person.If the top and the bottom are in conflict, they cannot help each other.So the hexagram said, "I didn't catch up with him; I found his home, but he disappeared. (Keep looking) There is no disaster."

"Xiang" said: "Jianshan", "Gen".A gentleman can't think of his position. "Gen Qitoe" is not out of order. "If you don't save him," he didn't quit listening. "Gen Qizhi", danger, "smoke the heart" also. "Gen Qishen" refers to all bows. "Gen Qifu" means Zhongzheng. The "auspiciousness" of "Dungen" ends in thick.

"Xiang Ci" says: "There are mountains on mountains, this is the image of the hexagram "Gen".A gentleman takes this as a lesson, and does not seek to exceed his position (if he is not in his position, he will not seek his government).

(The sixth line of the first day) "Follow its footsteps" means that the action does not deviate from the right path.

(Ninth third line) "Follow him and bend down", and encounter danger because of "greedy heart".

(sixth and fifth lines) "Learn from him to speak", the main point is to be neutral and upright.

(Upper Nine Lines) The "auspiciousness" brought about by "following with sincerity" lies in being able to always maintain kindness.
