Chapter 21 The Death of the Horse Trainer

In the early morning, the inspector was watching the riders practice horse racing. Suddenly, a blonde girl rushed out of the stable and shouted: "Come on! Someone is killing someone!" The inspector hurried over.

He turned around, glanced at the blonde who was covering her face, and said, "Oh, sorry, is that blood on your sleeve?"

The blond turned the cuffs of her riding suit to reveal a long streak of blood.

"Hey," she said with a pale face, "I must have rubbed against him just now. My name is Gail Devour, and he, he is Peter Murphy. He trains horses for me."

"Do you know anyone who might have killed him?" asked the Inspector.

"No," she answered, "except . . . maybe Bob Ford, to whom Peter owed a great deal of money . . . "

The next day, the police officer told the inspector: "Peter owes Ford the exact amount of $15000. But Ford, who runs the fish shop, swore that he hadn't seen Pete for two days. In addition, Miss Gale's cuff The bloodstains were tested to be that of the deceased.
