A Good-for-Nothing
Chapter 202
202. A Fight at the Millenary Islands Lake (II)
Translator: Dragon RiderThe Human Devil’s momentary lapse of concentration caused by amazement gave Zhou Yize an opportunity. She was hit by a palm strike of Zhou Yize’s, which sent her staggering backward a couple of paces before she uncontrollably fell to the ground.
Zhou Yize looked down at the Human Devil, who was unable to believe what had just happened. “Why didn’t my mind control work on you?!” she demanded.
What made the Human Devil who she was, also her trump card, was her mind control skill. Since she was capable of mind control, even Li Zong was no match for her, but when faced with an antagonist immune to mind control, she was no more than just an ordinary high-level demon.
Zhou Yize had no intention of explaining to her. He had just wounded the Human Devil, so even if she engaged Li Zong and his team, she wouldn’t be able to get the best of them. “You refuse to listen to reason, so you have to pay the price.”
Zhou Yize flicked a glance at his watch and then quickly left.
The Human Devil stared menacingly in the direction that Zhou Yize had just gone, her eyes bloodshot, which made her seem exceptionally terrifying. Black gas quickly covered half of her face. Half a minute later, the little color she had previously regained had drained from her complexion.
On hearing the sound of cars approaching from not far away, she wiped the blood from the corners of her mouth and swiftly hid herself onto the bus.
Now was not the right time for a diamond-cut-diamond fight with them.
Unfortunately for her, she was too stupid. Firstly, she shouldn’t have crossed swords with Zhou Yize, and secondly, she shouldn’t have underestimated Li Zong’s powers, inviting her own doom.
Li Zong and the others arrived at the tin hut and entered it but didn’t find anything out of the ordinary inside. The Dragon-Locating Ruler in Li Zong’s hand rotated madly and then pointed in this direction.
“A bus?” He Zheng tilted his head slightly. “The bus is filled with demonic Qi. Has the Human Devil killed everybody on it?”
Li Zong’s eyes also rested on the bus, on which there was indeed no detectable breathing of anybody alive, and which was cloaked in faint black demonic Qi. People who were not careful enough could easily jump to the conclusion that the Human Devil had killed everybody on it and left this place.
“The Human Devil is best at mind control.”
At that moment, Zhao Fei also arrived. After hearing Li Zong’s words, he gave a chuckle and said, “Maybe it’s best if I go there and check. You guys could easily fall prey to mind control.”
Of course Li Zong raised no objection. On getting onto the bus, Zhao Fei immediately spotted the Human Devil, who exerted her mind-control power on him at the same time, but just like Zhou Yize, Zhao Fei was also utterly unaffected by it. The Human Devil was consumed with fury and a sudden burst of glare was seen inside the bus. Zhao Fei didn’t really strike people as a kung fu expert, but when he made his moves, his blows were quite ferocious.
The Human Devil was forced into backing away one pace after another by Zhao Fei’s attack. What with the injury she’d sustained during the fight a while ago, the situation was getting increasingly unfavorable for her. She almost lost her marbles from ire. In a single day, she had actually met two human beings in a row who were immune to mind control.
The Human Devil came to realize that if things kept going this way, she would really end up being killed in this place. The two of them impacted violently upon each other and with that the Human Devil was heavily thrown backward and bumped against the last row of seats. As her eyes looked through a windowpane and fell on Li Zong and the others, she clenched her teeth tightly. She didn’t believe that everybody present had immunity to her mind control!
The Human Devil substantialized her demonic Qi, which twined itself around Zhao Fei and trapped him, and then she abruptly broke the windowpane and performed mind control on them the moment their eyes moved in her direction.
He Zheng and the others were watching the fight, but gradually, they discerned that something was not quite right.
Standing where he was, He Zheng found that the surroundings slowly changed.
“Help me.” A gentle, charming, female voice came from beside his ear. The woman was wearing an aqua blue garment. Her features were not really beautiful, but there was something bewitching about them.
She lightly craned closer to He Zheng, a fragrant smell in her soft breath. “Help me. I feel so hot…”
Any normal man would have a certain physiological reaction at this kind of enchanting voice. If He Zheng weren’t into women, he might fall victim to this trick as well.
He Zheng felt intolerably disgusted. He wanted to tell the woman to get away from him only to discover that he was unable to move a single inch. The Shadow Sword was still in his hand but he couldn’t wield it.
“Help me…” The woman’s arms had snaked their way onto He Zheng’s shoulders. His hair near the skin she touched immediately stood on end, goosebumps rising up all over his body.
He Zheng was inwardly hurling all kinds of abuse but couldn’t move a finger. Watching the woman’s scarlet lips bearing down on him, He Zheng was nearly reduced to vomiting.
“Fu–Fuck off…” With all his power of will, He Zheng finally managed to utter two words through gritted teeth, veins flickering horribly in his temple, suggesting how great effort he was making.
“Eek?” The Human Devil was astonished to see that He Zheng could still speak.
While distracting the Human Devil’s attention, He Zheng was secretly willing the Shadow Sword to move.
The Human Devil’s sharp fingertip slid across He Zheng’s temple and with that blood flowed from the slit. She craned over and licked it. “This taste is…” she muttered.
The Human Devil’s facial expression grew somewhat peculiar. The next second, the look in her eyes instantly became fanatical.
“Ha ha… So it’s you! It’s you!” The Human Devil suddenly burst into hysterical laughter.
It was now or never!
As a gleam flashed across He Zheng’s eyes, the Shadow Sword responded to his call, automatically flew from his hand and, while the woman was still laughing madly, went into her neck sideways with a puff, black blood splattering across He Zheng’s face. There was also a drop of black blood that spattered squarely into his left eye and instantly vanished.
With the disappearance of the binding force, He Zheng lost his balance and tottered several paces backward before falling into a familiar embrace. Li Zong appeared somewhat weary. He Zheng observed that he was holding the Luminous Firelight Sword in his hand.
“We all fell prey to her mind control.”
He Zheng looked in the direction that Li Zong was gazing. Unsurprisingly, all the others seemed to be in misery, their eyes shut.
