208. A Word-Spirit (II)

Translator: Dragon Rider

Chen Qianlin and He Zheng waited for a while at the hospital front gates.

Chen Qianlin asked, “Should we go back or should we stick to the plan?”

Then his eyes fell on He Zheng’s wounded leg and then lightly snorted, “Never mind. I don’t want to take advantage of your injury. Let’s wait until you recover.”

Thus, their duel was called off.

Chen Qianlin owned a house in Coastal City, so he didn’t return to SMB. He Zheng had no particular business to attend to, so he decided to go back to the apartment in Century Town. He was limping along the way when suddenly a flash of inspiration occurred to him.

Zu Zhichong had once told him that incantations consisted of words, that a Word-spirit had the power of willing their words to come true. After thinking for a few moments, He Zheng shook his head and dismissed the thought from his mind, feeling that Wang Jian didn’t seem like a Word-spirit at all, that he was no more than a jinx.

But recalling the accident and the fact that Feng Ma’s body had had demonic Qi on him, He Zheng still made a phone call to Li Zong and informed him of this matter, but what he didn’t know was that Feng Ma’s death was just the beginning.

In Zhou family.

Zhou Yihao returned home very late. His father always went to bed early, and there was no light in the living room, which was why Zhou Yihao, after walking through the door in the partition wall, gave a start when he caught sight of the tall man sitting bolt upright in the living room.

Without any changes of his countenance, Zhou Yihao concealed the disgust in his eyes, but his voice remained bland.

The dark gray eyes of the man in the shadows slightly moved and then rested on Zhou Yihao’s hands. Zhou Yihao appeared totally unconcerned. He had siphoned someone’s vital essence a while ago and there was still residue on his hands. Beneath his brother’s gaze, Zhou Yihao turned it into black gas which coiled around his fingertips.

Zhou Yize took his eyes off his brother. “Our master didn’t give you the powers to let you do this kind of things.”

Zhou Yihao had particularly bad vibes about Zhou Yize, so his nerves instantly began to fray at these words like a firecracker the fuse of which was burning to its end. The darkness obscured Zhou Yihao’s facial expression as well as the grim smile at the corners of his curled lips. “Are you saying this out of jealousy, Big Brother?

It took father so much time and effort to find a way to free the Human Devil, but he got easily wasted by those guys of SMB. You stayed in Hang City for so many days, but somehow, you came back unharmed eventually. Do you know that father and master are both very angry?”

“That’s my business.” Zhou Yize’s voice was as apathetic as always.

“Then mind your own business!” Zhou Yihao snorted coldly.

“You’re as greedy as a snake trying to swallow an elephant.” Zhou Yize paused and then continued, “Your job is to prepare food for our master. If you keep wading in this matter, sooner or later you’ll get exposed.”

Zhou Yize paused again and then flintily reminded Zhou Yihao, “Your life doesn’t matter much, but if by any chance you incriminate our family… You know what the consequences will be.”

After saying this, Zhou Yize directly left before his little brother could make a reply. Zhou Yihao’s face was alternating between green and red after he got such a scolding from Zhou Yize. If it weren’t for the darkness in the room, he definitely wouldn’t be able to hide the anger washing over his face.

‘Who do you think you are?!’ Zhou Yihao inwardly growled in indignation and contempt.

But Zhou Yize’s warning didn’t go in one ear and out the other. Zhou Yihao walked out of the house and went to the bottommost basement in which there were approximately a dozen good-looking youngsters, male and female. All of them were caged up like animals, and there was no reaction from any of them when the light was turned on.

And none of them was capable of giving any reaction.

Zhou Yihao stared at these youngsters. It was rumored that that young broker named Feng Ma had died… The situation was a little troublesome now. Zhou Yihao gave a soft mutter, somewhat uncertain about what to do.

He had drained all these people of vital essence to develop proficiency in certain enchantments, but he had indeed never thought that Feng Ma would die. Right now Zhou Yihao was not sure whether the killer was Zhou Yize or someone else… Then he ruled out the latter possibility. To his knowledge, the Zhou family was the only family of Demon’s Attendants in Coastal City, and no other Demon’s Attendant would dare mess with the Zhou family.

The look in Zhou Yihao’s eyes grew menacing after he fathomed this out. All the other possibilities had been excluded, which meant the only plausible explanation was that Zhou Yize had killed Feng Ma to cut him off from his original source of “food” and at the same time give him a word of warning.

“Zhou Yize, you snake in the grass.” Zhou Yihao cursed through gritted teeth. “You better hope I don’t get the goods on you, because if I do, I swear I will kill you to vent my anger!”

Zhou Yihao angrily shut the door and then secretly contacted his “fixers”, instructing them to send this batch of trainees back to the talent agency as soon as possible and lay low.

Standing on the balcony outside his bedroom, Zhou Yize impassively watched Zhou Yihao stealthily transferring the bodies out of the basement. He withdrew his eyes and returned to the room in which the light was still ablaze. As he walked over to the table, his frosty face was reflected in the mirror. When his gaze rested on the poster of Zhao Fei on the wall, an unusual expression flitted across his emotionless, gray eyes.
