244. Teach You a Hard Lesson

Translator: Dragon Rider

No sooner had He Zheng finished his sentence than thunderclouds materialized and massed in the sky which had been blue and cloudless only a moment ago. He Zheng was narrow-minded and quite vindictive. The thunderclouds he had summoned were aimed at not only Chen Qianlin, but also the two idlers who were enjoying sunflower seeds and cola on the side.

Tao Wujiu was from a special background. When his sect-uncles were refining pills, they also conjured thunderbolts as thin as thread to get Heavenly Flame into their stoves. Tao Wujiu had been quite naughty in his childhood, and he had liked to make trouble when his sect-uncles were trying to get Heavenly Flame. On one occasion, he had got his butt struck by lightning and instantly burst into tears. After that, he had lain prone on his bed for more than a month. When the other kids had been scampering around, he could only play Connect-the-dots.

Being struck by lightning was the most terrible part of his childhood memory.

However, it had never crossed his mind that He Zheng would be able to summon thunderbolts at least three times the width of a finger without much difficulty. At that moment, the fear of having his butt struck by lightning surged through every fibre of Tao Wujiu’s being.

“Run! Run! You don’t want to be struck by any of those things!”

Carnotte was the second to react. After a second of stupor, he took to his heels. Carnotte ran to the edge of the magic barrier and got out of the reach of thunderbolts at an amazingly fast speed.

Chen Qianlin, who was unwilling to dodge the blow, wielded the Sharpness Sword with the intention to parry the thunderbolts. The first bolt of lightning brushed past his scalp, and with that a faint burning smell came into his nose. Chen Qianlin roared, “He Zheng, you fucking asshole, I’ll kill you!”

While saying this, he took a flying leap and extricated himself from the range of the lightning.

It was suicidal for a human being to fight the forces of the nature. No matter how strong Chen Qianlin was, he had no choice but to flee when faced with thunderbolts.

However, flashes of lightning still struck down mercilessly one after another, and Chen Qianlin, as the main target of the attack, was fleeing helter-skelter. “Shit! Is there a bit of humanity remaining in you, He Zheng?!” he bellowed.

For He Zheng, lightning was actually a small-range offensive weapon. The amazing part of it was that lightning was more effective, and with its own GPS targeting system, it attacked anything He Zheng wanted it to. The only downside to it was that the conjured lightning also had its own automatic tracking system. If the target held He Zheng and refused to let go, the lightning wouldn’t be able to distinguish the target from He Zheng and would strike He Zheng as well.

He Zheng had some time ago run far away. As he heard Chen Qianlin’s furious roar, he casually rearranged his clothes that had been messed up during the fight. “You should feel lucky I didn’t use the Quintuple Lightning Enchantment. Be grateful and shut your mouth.”

Jibing and watching the three of them fleeing in panic, He Zheng was in a very good mood.

“If you admit defeat right now, I’ll figure something out to save your ass,” laughed He Zheng cockily with his hands on his hips.

Chen Qianlin and the two innocent spectators who were under attack were all angered. They kept running around, trying to dodge the lightning, only too anxious to beat He Zheng to death.

He Zheng was so smug that he forgot that there was a saying which goes, “Pretentious people tend to be struck by lightning.”

The three of them found out about a secret during the process of running for their lives. When Chen Qianlin ran to Tao Wujiu’s side, lightning struck in his direction. Tao Wujiu, who narrowly avoided being struck, ranted, “Stay the fuck away from me!”

When Chen Qianlin ran towards Carnottete, thunderbolts also followed him.

As Carnotte bawled, Chen Qianlin came to understand something in a flash of inspiration. He looked in the direction of He Zheng, who was watching them fleeing in the distance.

He Zheng’s and Chen Qianlin’s eyes met lovingly in mid-air. He Zheng suddenly caught on to what Chen Qianlin was going to do. However, it was too late. He Zheng had successfully provoked Chen Qianlin. The the Sharpness Sword in Chen Qianlin’s hand flew out and blocked He Zheng’s path. He Zheng stopped dead, almost losing his footing, and with that Chen Qianlin brought He Zheng to the ground.

“Today I’ll teach you a hard lesson!” Chen Qianlin raged.

“Fuck you, Chen Qianlin! Get the fuck off me!” The sheet of lightning was closing in on them, and He Zheng smelled something burning.

However, no matter how hard He Zheng tried to free himself, Chen Qianlin refused to let go, his arms wrapped tightly around He Zheng’s neck.

He even malevolently rolled over to make He Zheng his human shield. The two of them grappled with each other. He Zheng tried his best to extricate himself from Chen Qianlin’s grip, but Chen Qianlin grabbed He Zheng’s leg and refused to let him go. It was quite a heated scene.

At last, Chen Qianlin, with the determination to teach He Zheng a hard lesson, managed to pinned He Zheng (who was struggling with all his might) down.

The two of them were so intent on fighting that they failed to notice the sheet of lightning ferociously gaining ground on them.

After the dazzling lightning disappeared, Tao Wujiu and Carnotte put their hands down and secretly swallowed hard as they saw the two of them lying on the ground, each breathing out a puff of white vapor.

“My goodness. I think they’ve been turned into popcorn.” Tao Wujiu was dumbfounded at this scene.

Carnotte stammered, “D-Do you think we should give Supt. Li a call? They don’t look very well.”

He Zheng’s and Chen Qianlin’s whole bodies were convulsing owing to the lightning, the corners of their mouths and their fingers twitching as they heard the conversation of the two spectators.

“You…fucking…animal”

“It…takes…one…to…know…one”

Fortunately He Zheng had not really meant to strike them to death with lightning, which was why he had used an Elementary Lightning Fu that was not very powerful. Although they wouldn’t be able to move for some time, the injuries were not life-threatening.

In the end, He Zheng, who had been struck by lightning more often and thus was a little more experienced, came around first. When Tao Wujiu supported him to his feet, He Zheng took advantage of the opportunity and gave Chen Qianlin a couple of kicks.

Li Zong, who had received a call and been informed, arrived.

The leaders of the other two action groups had nothing else to do, so they also came to take a look.

At that moment, Chen Qianlin and He Zheng were standing there with blackened faces and tousled hair, their bodies still convulsing.

The corners of Zhang Jingqiu’s mouth twitched. “What are you doing? Playing Connect-the-dots?”

Li Zong, who had seen this coming, said to Tao Wujiu, “Bring them to my office where they could have some rest.”

“Wait…” Due to the electric shock, He Zheng’s tongue was stiff and he couldn’t even speak clearly. He raised his feet stiffly and kicked Chen Qianlin who was still “indulging”in the pleasure of electricity going through his body. In an inarticulate voice, he asked, “Wh–Who’s the winner?”

Xiang Hailou said, “Chen Qianlin is unconscious, you can still talk. So, you won.”

As a smile appeared at the corners of his mouth, He Zheng closed his eyes in contentment and passed out.

Li Zong’s fingers slid across He Zheng’s brow. Tao Wujiu didn’t dare to move while Li Zong was doing that.

With an almost impassive face which gave little away, he said, “Take them down and let them rest.”

Carnotte inclined his head and then the couple of them went down.

Zhang Jingqiu glanced around the messy training ground and smiled, “Why did He Zheng fight so hard as though he wanted to kill his opponent? Look how much damage he’s caused to the training ground.”

Li Zong directly turned around and left without even looking at it.

“Asshole. Why did he give me that attitude?” Zhang Jingqiu hadn’t bargained on Li Zong ignoring him. He was stunned for a while and then cursed.

Xiang Hailou, “Li Zong is in a bad mood right now.”

“And why is it he’s in a bad mood exactly?”

Xiang Hailou was silent for a while before he said, “What is it that your wife sees in you exactly, Group Leader Zhang?”

“Huh?”

Zhang Jingqiu was utterly baffled as to what Xiang Hailou meant. He was just about to ask when he found that Xiang Hailou had already entered the elevator. Zhang Jingqiu hurriedly followed him into it. “Lao Xiang, what do you mean by that?”

Xiang Hailou was now as silent as an old clam, refusing to make a reply no matter how many times Zhang Jingqui asked him.

……

In fact, He Zheng’s injuries were not severe, but in order to deal with Chen Qianlin, he had depleted his energy during the fighting before he cast the spell, which was why he had fainted when the electricity ran through his body afterward.

After he fainted, his body, which had been drained of energy, had started a self-healing process.

The self-healing process lasted quite some time. When He Zheng woke up, he had no idea how long he had slept, and he felt terribly nauseous.

The curtains were closed. He Zheng felt his way to the light switch and turned on the light. He immediately recognized that he was in Li Zong’s dorm. He pulled the curtains back and found that it was night already.

At first, he was nauseous, but soon he felt hungry. Having no room in his mind to think about where the others were, He Zheng went to the water dispenser, picked up Li Zong’s cup, filled it with water and drank it in one gulp.

While he was drinking water, Li Zong pushed the door open and came in, food in hand.

“You’re awake. Are you hungry?”

“Yeah, I’ve just started feeling hungry.” He Zheng, without even putting on his shoes first, sat down on a short stool with his feet on the cold ceramic floor tiles and pulled the chopsticks out of the bag.

“Eek? Where did you buy this?” It was shortly He Zheng started to eat when he remembered that it was already something after eight o’clock in the evening, that there was probably no food in the mess hall of SMB, so Li Zong must have gone outside to buy these.

“I went to the mess hall and borrowed some ingredients.”

He Zheng was astonished that Li Zong knew how to cook. “You made these all by yourself?”

“Uh huh. Dig in.”

He Zheng was ravenous. In addition, it was Li Zong who had prepared the meal, so he quickly wolfed down everything in the lunch box, and he almost licked the oil off the chopsticks.

“Delicious!”

“I’m glad you like it.” Li Zong rose to his feet, cleaned the table and asked him, “The Elementary Lightning Fu you used earlier today was more powerful than usual. Chen Qianlin still hasn’t come to.”

“Huh? I especially picked an ill-drawn Fu. It shouldn’t be that powerful. The reason why I was knocked out was because I was too engrossed in the fight.”

Li Yu nodded and said nothing more about that topic.

He Zheng was so full he was burping. Li Zong inquired of him, “Do you want to see your grandfather?”

“I’m allowed to do that?”

“Uh huh. The department is just trying to prevent leaks. They are allowed visitors.”

Actually, that was not the case. The Zhu family and the He family were now in quarantine. Nobody, except for staff members with clearance as high as Li Zong’s, were allowed to visit them.

Naturally He Zheng wanted to see his grandfather, so he immediately put on his shoes and set off.

Old Master Zhu looked well. As He Zheng saw that they were in a good mood, his spirits also rose.

It took He Zheng half an hour to finish visiting his grandfather and other members of the Zhu family. Feeling that it was time to end this after-dinner walk, He Zheng prepared to go back. He suddenly recalled Carnotte and the fact that this year’s recruitment of new staff members was over. Then he naturally thought of He Yu who had sworn that she would land a job in SMB as a humiliation to him.

He Zheng suddenly halted. Li Zong walking side by side with him turned his head around and asked, “What’s the matter?”

“If my memory serves me correctly, the He family have been brought here as well, right?”

“Uh huh. They’re in the Ministry of Supervision on B1.”

With a glint of thinly disguised malice in his eyes, He Zheng said, “How about we pay them a visit?”

Li Zong narrowed his eyes and glanced at his flat-chested marriage partner. He Zheng’s smile was very sly. How could Li Zong not understand what he was planning to do?

As long as what He Zheng wanted to do was not beyond the pale, Li Zong normally wouldn’t stop him. Therefore, Li Zong inclined his head.

Then he led He Zheng to the Ministry of Supervision.
