American comics: Random transformations
Chapter 95
Clark smiled and waved goodbye, heading towards the restroom before leaping out of the glass window.
Before changing his clothes, he carefully surveyed his surroundings and blasted the nearby security cameras with his heat vision. Then, he began to spin at high speed, changing into his blue tights and red cape.
His bio-field propelled him through the air, flying towards the main entrance of the press conference, where he slowly floated inside.
Just as everyone saw Lex Luthor smiling towards the main entrance,
they uniformly turned their heads and saw Superman floating in the sky.
"I thought you weren't coming! What took you so long? My friends are getting impatient!"
Lex Luthor clapped his hands with a smile, and a group of armed soldiers rushed out from all directions, aiming their guns at Superman. They were all super-powered individuals gathered here.
"I was held up, so I'm late. You specifically organized this press conference to let me know about that Compound Five, right?"
Superman's expression remained blank as he stated in a calm tone, "Impressive gene technology."
Lex Luthor's smile widened.
"It's not easy to hear praise from you, Superman.
Actually, this press conference is just to promote my new product. I'm not the one who wants to find you!
It's my partner, General Lane!"
Lois's expression froze. "Dad? What's he doing here?" Since their argument at the Daily Planet, they hadn't had any normal communication.
Superman's expression also shifted slightly. General Lane had been targeting him recently.
Their super-powered squad had successfully reduced Superman's appearances.
"So, General Lane, what do you want with me? If I remember correctly, didn't we just meet yesterday?"
General Lane walked to the front of the stage with a serious expression, taking the microphone from Lex Luthor.
Lex Luthor consciously stepped back, giving the stage to General Lane.
"I'm here to use the news media to issue a warning to you, Superman!
Metropolis no longer needs you to interfere!
My super-powered squad and I can do what Superman can do, and we can also do what Superman can't!
Earth's affairs should be handled by Earthlings. An alien like you doesn't need to interfere!"
This statement was powerful and full of the style of a military general.
Just as the scene was turning awkward, an angry female voice broke the serious atmosphere!
"I disagree!"
Lois Lane jumped out. She couldn't understand why her father would cause such a commotion today. Did he not realize how explosive the news would be tomorrow?
"General Sam Lane!" Lois called out her father's full name and angrily questioned, "Do you know what you're doing! How can you say such things to Metropolis's hero!"
"Hero? What did he do when the aliens invaded last time? That was our victory! That was humanity's victory!"
Lex Luthor interjected at this moment, "Actually, that was my victory! My weapons were the only reason we could successfully deal with them!"
"Shut up, Luthor! You're the reason the city is full of danger now. So many aliens escaped and haven't been caught yet, and you still have the nerve to say that!"
"That's not my problem. It just means the military is useless." Lex Luthor spread his hands, looking somewhat gleeful.
"Be quiet, Lois, this is not a place for your nonsense!"
"You're the one who should be quiet!"
And just like that, Lois and General Lane started arguing on stage. The surrounding crowd of onlookers didn't try to stop them, but instead watched the show as if they were watching a play.
In this situation, the crowd's mindset was more about believing whoever won the argument!
Chapter 94: The Failed Toy Craze, Miracle Drug Sells Big!
The excitement on the field continues.
Originally, it was a criticism and declaration of war against Superman, but it suddenly turned into a verbal confrontation between father and daughter. All kinds of hurtful words came out of Lois's mouth, making General Lane want to slap her.
Superman awkwardly floated in the air, unsure of what to do. He couldn't interfere in this kind of matter, and he couldn't offend either side.
Lex Luthor didn't care that this was his stage. He allowed General Lane and his daughter Lois to debate "Superman's greatness" on stage.
To be honest, this was much more entertaining than a stand-up comedy show.
But the careful onlookers noticed something strange. One by one, toy birds flew in from the windows, followed by a large swarm!
"Holy crab! What is this?"…
"Mechanical birds? Toy birds? LexCorp's promotional gifts?"
"Wow, that's amazing, is that bionic technology?"
…
"What the heck! There are more and more of these ugly things! I don't like flying things! Get them out of here! Security! Security!"…
The scene was chaotic, like a chicken coop exploding!
The noise of the mechanical wings made everyone's heads buzz. The noise alone made people want to shoot them all down.
Superman flew to Lex Luthor's side, staring warily at the toy birds, and asked, "Your event idea?"
Lex Luthor also put away his joking attitude. He said with a serious expression, "No, I never play with these little toys. Since I was a child, I've liked playing with weapons, like machine guns!"
After saying that, he stepped on a small bump on the stage three times.
Click, click, click, click…
Four machine guns ejected from under the stage, automatically set up on the stage, and used lasers to aim at the flying toy birds.
Lex Luthor said confidently,
"I knew someone would come to disrupt things, but I didn't expect the other party to be so uninteresting.
Thinking that these little toys could cause me trouble? How childish."
Superman rolled his eyes at Lex Luthor, speechless. Was this really the place to pull out a gun? And a machine gun, no less! Such a deadly weapon!
Didn't he see how many people were here? It was incredibly dangerous!
Superman stopped Lex from firing. "Let me handle this! Your machine gun is too dangerous. It would be bad if someone got hurt!"
Lex Luthor waved his hand dismissively. "It's fine, I can afford it. To prevent any problems, I even bought a hospital yesterday. It's enough to accommodate them."
"You!"
Superman was taken aback by Luthor's words. He was about to scold Lex Luthor for his unethical behavior, to tell him about the danger here, that this could potentially escalate into murder.
But a voice, even faster than his, objected from the side. "Stop! Superman! My super-powered squad can handle this. We don't need your help!"
It was General Lane who was objecting. He was completely unwilling to listen to the love-struck Lois anymore; those utterly foolish remarks couldn't convince him at all.
After speaking, General Lane shouted into the walkie-talkie in his hand, "Listen to my orders! I authorize you to use your superpowers to retaliate! Blow those toys to pieces!"
"Roger that!" × 180.
Lasers, gales, bone needles...
Rush in, tear them down, machine gun fire...
A bunch of strange powers focused their attacks on the flock of mechanical birds, blasting them into piles of parts on the ground.
The flock of mechanical birds that had flown in was instantly cleared out.
Lex Luthor took back the microphone from General Lane and addressed the chaotic scene.
"Alright, alright! Everyone, calm down! See? Wasn't that easily resolved? Nothing to worry about.
You all saw what happened just now, right? Those amazing superhumans are the soldiers around you, the ones filling you with a sense of security.
That's right, the trouble was solved by the super soldiers created by our Compound Five, without relying on Superman at all!
So, what do you think, everyone? Wouldn't you like to have such powerful abilities?"
"Oh, oh, oh!!! We want them now!" Some zealous fans even wanted to rush up and discuss cooperation with Lex Luthor, but they were stopped by the security guards.
Lex Luthor's publicity stunt was incredibly effective.
"Hahaha, everyone, as long as you place an order online today, I guarantee you'll receive your goods tomorrow.
So as not to disturb your enthusiasm for shopping, let's end today's product launch here!
Please leave in an orderly fashion. We still have some troublemakers to deal with here!"
Although the ending was a bit rushed, everyone present could understand.
Someone daring to cause trouble here was simply slapping LexCorp in the face, and Lex Luthor was not someone to be trifled with. He would definitely retaliate.
Just as they were preparing to leave, Lex Luthor suddenly received a call from his bodyguard.
"Boss, the outside, the outside is surrounded by toys! We're surrounded! Holy crap! There are too many of them!"
Lex Luthor was stunned.
What? Where are the weapons? Can't you guys use the weapons?
"? They're just toys. Can't you just mow them down with machine guns! The weapons I gave you are enough to fight a small war. Can't you use them?
Sh*t, if you can't use them, then you're all fired tomorrow!"
"It's not that we can't do it, it's that the weapons aren't working, Boss!
Some of those toys explode when they're shot! And they have weapons too, they can shoot back!"
"What?! Explode!"
Lex Luthor immediately turned his head to look at the pile of parts on the ground—a pile of gears and chips that didn't look like they had explosives packed inside.
Just then, the eyes of several of the relatively intact toy bird heads suddenly lit up with red lights.
"Sh*t! Get away from there, there are bombs!"
"Boom!"
No sooner had Lex Luthor finished speaking than the bird heads exploded, scattering metal fragments like shrapnel grenades.
Those with superpowers used their abilities to defend themselves, while those without superpowers quickly sought cover.
Even speedsters couldn't save everyone in this densely packed area.
Superman moved. His super brain was working at high speed, slowing down everything around him.
At this moment, he could clearly see the slightest movements of everyone, including the trajectory of the exploding metal fragments.
His super speed was also activated at this moment. As everything slowed down, he strolled through the scene as if taking a leisurely walk.
Superman caught all the metal shards flying around from the explosion one by one, and his freezing breath cooled the expanding air.
After dealing with the danger, Superman's bio-field enveloped everyone, preventing them from being blown away by the thermally expanding and contracting air.
The crowd, recovering, watched as Superman was not only unharmed in the blast area but had also dissipated the explosion.
"Ah! It really has to be Superman!"
"Well done, Superman!"
"Thank you for your help, Superman!"
...
Every word of praise was a slap in General Lane's face.
It was a resounding slap. Just minutes before, he had wanted to draw a line between humans and aliens, but now it was Superman protecting them.
"General Lane! Secure this place! I'm going outside to save people!"
These words completely ignited General Lane's anger. He roared,
"Sh*t! Are you teaching me how to do my job? My squad is enough to protect them!"
His voice was full of frustration and impotent rage.
Superman nodded and flew out of the hall, heading outside.
........
Unlike the situation inside the hall, the outside wasn't just filled with toy birds that could fly in the sky.
