Another Bad Boy Down

I stepped out and closed the door behind me. I happily inhaled, filling my lungs with polluted cold night air. This is not as fresh as the air in the countryside but after everything that happened today, I am more than happy to embrace my new found freedom from those scary creatures inside.

I stood in front of the establishment, I looked at my watch and started to mumble to myself "5...4...3...2...1...". The door behind me opened and magically a unicorn came out. I smiled to myself, how childish of me.

"Hey, why are you smiling? Are you that happy to see me?" a warm clear voice resonated in the air.

I shook my head and said "No, I am just reminiscing how awesome my kick was. You should have seen it." I happily said to him.

Vincent chuckled, reached out his hand and pinched my pinkish white cheek. I glared at him and swatted his hand away from my cheek. "You will pay for that. How dare you hurt my precious-?"

I was not able to finish what I was saying because this sly guy suddenly walked away and started heading towards his expensive baby. "I already paid, remember?" he said while walking.

I grimaced and let him be. He did 'pay' since I took his cash from his wallet, I owe him so I guess now were even. I again took a deep breath and followed behind him.

It's already 7:00 in the evening, during the ride home Vincent didn't say anything. He didn't ask me questions or scold me for getting into trouble. He isn't like this before. If this happened in the past, he would be asking me questions none stop and would never act like he didn't see anything suspicious but since he got a girlfriend he has been secretive and would often give me a cold shoulder.

He still come often to my house, go to school together or dine in a fine restaurant with him; but I can't help feel like he is slowly building a wall between us. I think slowly he is slipping away from me.

Honestly, I am quite surprised when I saw Vincent in the cafe today; because today is Alyssa's birthday. I frowned when that thought crossed my mind. I hastily moved my head to face Vincent, he is focused on the road ahead and didn't mind me staring at him.

"Hey..." I said, calling his attention.

"What is it?" he answered, eyes still on the road.

"Isn't it your girlfriend's birthday today?" I asked him.

"Yes." he answered.

"Then why are you here?" I asked in a serious voice.

He didn't answer immediately, his gaze still ahead. I studied his side profile, looking for something that... I sighed, what am I looking for? What am I expecting? Is he worried for me? Is that why he came? Should I be happy?

"She told me." he said.

"Who?" I asked. Then realized who he was talking about. "Oh.. Alyssa."

Vincent nodded and said "She told me that her friends were talking about you in their group chat. She was worried for you so she told me to go there." he said in a nonchalant tone of voice.

"I see. That's nice of her, sharing her boyfriend to other girls." I said in an indifferent tone of voice. I moved my head closer to the window and blankly stared outside. Elrae don't regret anything. At one time, it was exactly what you wanted. To be friends forever.
