Army of True Salvation
Chapter 39:School of Zombies
It was already 11:23 in the morning. They started their training at 8 o'clock. Gunshots and spears bumping each other were heard as the training progressed on the rooftop.
Veon was leading the attackers on how to effectively aim whereas Josh and Tyler trained the others on how to use their spears efficiently by doing spars.
On the area of the medics, they were quiet. They were focused on how to do the procedures when it comes to treating their patients. Isobel would give them situations and they would have to think of what emergency procedure to execute.
One of their classmates, Glenda, approached Sheloah and asked a question. "If the patient is bleeding really bad, it's best to cover it up with a cloth, right? And if it's really a life threatening one, it's best if we use tourniquet?" Sheloah looked at her.
"I'm not quite sure. I just started learning recently. It would be best to ask Isobel. But I think you're correct on the tourniquet part?" Glenda nodded and thanked her before she went to Isobel to confirm her answer.
Sheloah sighed. Being a medic is more difficult than she thought! She's scared of blood, yet she took on this challenge. But even then, she felt that she needed to learn this so she could help her comrades more.
She sighed heavily as she diverted her focus on her training. She read the emergency procedures that Isobel had written on a piece of paper. She had handed this to them for them to read and to remember; to memorize.
They were all serious as they were reading the procedures and understanding each step. As the time progressed, they noticed that the weather started to change as the breeze became cooler. The sky turned cloudy as well like anytime soon, it would start raining.
Sir Erick and Sir Jim stopped the students from training for them to have early lunch. They cooked meals that seemed light, but it was enough for them to have the proper energy to execute the plan. Soon, they will be going to leave their school for survival.
They will be soon going to leave behind one of the places they had made the best memories.
Sheloah was beside Isobel and Glenda. In front of them was Veon, Tyler and Josh. On their left was Sir Jim and Sir Erick. Near Veon was Sheloah's uncle.
They were all eating a simple lunch, but even then, it felt like one of the best meals they have ever had as a group. They were thankful that even in this situation, they still ate food with the people who were now considered as their family.
They all finished eating and they all fixed the stuffs that they're going to bring and leave behind. Soon, they will start with their final training. Once they open the door, they know that zombies will come up to attack them and once they leave the rooftop…
There's no turning back.
They all sat on the floor after fixing stuffs. Veon, Sheloah, Tyler, and Josh stood up to do the final checking. The teachers were also standing right beside them as they briefed the plan among themselves.
The parents were behind the students. There were parents who participated in the training, too. They felt that they needed to fight with the youngsters as well; telling them not to underestimate them.
"We will open the door so that zombies can enter. Once we have already killed a few, all of us will go down and attack. Of course, we also prioritize our escape. We will do this until we reach the vehicles parked on the playground. Understood," Sir Jim said and everyone nodded as their answer.
"One more thing. We should all have a spear as backup. All groups, surround the parents so as to protect them efficiently," Veon added and Sir Jim spoke again.
"Don't forget to cooperate with your group. Do not panic and if things get wrong, we will get to it straight. Just remember the number one thing of not panicking," he reiterated and everyone went silent.
The leading group went in front of the main door as Tyler opened the door slowly. Everyone in the area went quiet as they felt their heart beating faster by the second. They were nervous, but they knew they had to focus.
They felt the cold air on their skin. It made them more nervous as the unexpected change of climate made them think of a negative outcome.
Tyler returned to the group as all of them looked at the door expectantly. There were no zombies entering yet, but they know that there are some waiting for them downstairs.
