Be A Virtuous Wife! So Tough!
Chapter 47
C47 – Being Fooled!!!
Tang Yue found life in Prince Zhao’s Mansion relatively comfortable. Despite occasional scoldings from the only patient, they managed to get along well.
One day, he had a sudden urge to give Wang Zizhao a lesson on reproduction. However, instead of trying to harm him, Wang Zizhao simply had someone throw him out.
“Considering Wang Zizhao’s status and age, shouldn’t he be married and have children by now? Why hasn’t he found a mother for the Imperial Residence?” Tang Yue grabbed Hu Jinpeng and inquired.
Hu Jinpeng hastily covered his mouth and surveyed their surroundings. “Young master, it’s best not to delve into this matter, especially not in front of Wang Zizhao.”
Tang Yue could tell from his expression that he was about to share some gossip. Leaning closer, he whispered, “Tell me, I promise to keep it to myself.”
Hu Jinpeng pushed his head away. “It’s not that I don’t trust you, young master. It’s just a delicate subject to discuss.”
“Could it be that he’s been hurt in love?” Tang Yue imagined a scenario in his mind. A man and a woman, childhood sweethearts torn apart as the man went off to war. Their fates unknown, the woman was compelled to marry someone else due to familial pressures. The man’s temperament underwent a drastic change, and he no longer believed in love or women.
However, this situation appeared to offer an explanation for the man’s change in sexual orientation.
Tang Yue pondered, “Maybe Wang Zizhao genuinely prefers men. Otherwise, why would there not be a single woman in this vast mansion?”
Hu Jinpeng cleared his throat. “Young sir, don’t concern yourself with such matters. It’s not within your purview.” After all, you’re just a doctor. Why should you be concerned about the patient’s feelings?
“You don’t understand,” Tang Yue replied. “The patient’s emotional state directly impacts their condition. A positive mindset can contribute to their recovery.”
“Really?” Hu Jinpeng asked hesitantly.
Tang Yue noticed that he had taken the bait and vigorously nodded. “Indeed, it’s true. Good and bad emotions have a direct effect on a person’s internal organs. You must have heard of it before. Happiness affects the liver, sadness affects the spleen, grief affects the lungs, fear affects the kidneys. Human emotions are intimately linked to the body.”
“Then…” Hu Jinpeng hesitated and rolled his eyes.
“Then what?” Tang Yue asked anxiously.
“Well… I still can’t tell you,” Hu Jinpeng chuckled and patted Tang Yue’s shoulder. “If the young master truly wishes to know, why not inquire with Wang Zizhao?”
Tang Yue watched Hu Jinpeng’s departing figure as he laughed. He realized he had been tricked. He stroked his chin, a frown forming on his face. “Master, I have been fooled by an ancient individual. This is ridiculous!”
He remained rooted to the spot for quite some time, contemplating whether he should eliminate Hu first before committing adultery or eliminate him first before committing adultery. Then, considering their respective size and physical strength, he came to the realization that neither option was realistic. Only then did he abandon such thoughts.
Nevertheless, any trace of gratitude he held towards Hu Jinpeng evaporated just like that.
Tang Yue retraced his steps and unexpectedly bumped into the hurriedly walking butler. He inquired with a smile, “Where is Uncle heading off to in such a rush? Did he depart suddenly?”
After residing in this era for some time, he had essentially acclimated to such a manner of speech. However, he preferred to employ more euphemistic expressions whenever possible.
The butler halted and respectfully bowed to Tang Yue. “Tang Xiaolang Jun An, the Third Prince is here for a visit. I shall inform the master.”
“Third Prince?” Upon hearing that he was a member of the royal family, Tang Yue’s initial reaction wasn’t that his brother had come to see him, but rather that his opponent had arrived to spy on him.
Since Tang Yue’s arrival at Prince Zhao’s Mansion, he hadn’t encountered anyone from the royal family apart from Queen Hu. The king had sent herbs and tonics on several occasions, but there had been no sign of the other brothers and sisters.
He halted the butler and inquired, “Who is this Third Prince? What is his relationship with Wang Zizhao?”
The steward lowered his head in fear. “I don’t know.”
Tang Yue blinked and placed his arm on the butler’s shoulder. “Hey, we’re on the same side. Why are you so nervous? Tell me the truth so that I can prepare. The Third Prince will likely inquire about your master’s injury later on.”
The butler found the reasoning sensible. After scanning the surroundings and ensuring no one was within earshot, he leaned closer and whispered, “Wang Zixian is ambitious. He has his eyes set on the throne.”
Tang Yue suddenly comprehended. Anyone with aspirations for the throne would undoubtedly be an adversary of Wang Zizhao.
This was a natural political enemy.
He nodded. “I understand. Don’t worry Wang Zizhao. I know what to say.”
