boom!
However, at that moment, a speeding truck suddenly sped up from the horizon and rushed towards Luther as if it had lost control, seemingly unaware that there were four cars parked in front of it.
"Fake!"
Lex Luthor cursed under his breath, and then with a "bang," he saw the truck crash into the last black sedan, the car instantly crushed flat, and the impact was like a train, one after another, finally crashing into the car he was in.
The immense force caught the people in the car off guard. Lex Luthor even slammed his head against the chair and was thrown to the ground, blood spurting from the corner of his mouth.
"Luther, are you alright?"
Eve was also badly injured, but she was wearing a seatbelt and wasn't thrown out.
"It's okay, Fuck, you should have reminded me to fasten my seatbelt and call the police immediately. These guys are after me."
Lex cursed, wiping the blood from the corner of his mouth with a handkerchief. He sat up with a cold expression, ignoring the pale-faced manager in the front seat. Instead, he turned to look at the large truck behind him, then at the bus in front of him.
There were indeed factory employees on the bus, but they were all lying there in shock. Several masked men were standing in the aisle, clearly indicating that the people on the bus had been kidnapped.
"Boss, get out of the car and get out of here."
In the car behind, three bodyguards got out and knocked on the window.
"Wait."
Lex was about to say something when he witnessed a bullet whizz through the bodyguard's head outside the window, blood spurting out and splattering across the glass.
Startled, he quickly pressed Eve down beside him and lay face down on the chair. After a burst of gunfire outside, all three bodyguards fell into pools of blood, and a strong smell of blood filled the air.
"Who gave you permission to fire the shot? What if someone dies?!"
"I'm a good shot, it's impossible for me to miss."
The conversation of several people outside, accompanied by footsteps, could be heard. The speakers were speaking broken Chinese, and one of them occasionally added in English. Judging from their accents, they didn't seem to be Chinese.
Inside the car, Lex Luthor became even more certain that the people outside were after him. As for which competitor it was, there were too many to guess at the moment.
bang bang bang! ! !
The men had already walked to the car window and were tapping on it with the butt of their guns. One of them even pressed his face against the window and kept peering inside, but they were wearing masks so their faces couldn't be seen.
“Mr. Luther, get out here right now, or the bullets won’t have eyes.”
Threatened by outsiders.
"Don't open the door."
When Lex saw the manager about to open the door, he immediately stopped him and reminded him, "The car windows are bulletproof; they won't be able to open them anytime soon."
The car was shipped from the United States. As a wealthy businessman in the metropolis, and also a science...
A genius will naturally put more thought into their everyday items, especially when they know there are many enemies around.
“Mr. Luther, I’m sorry, I didn’t expect this to happen.”
The manager said, still shaken.
"It's okay, this isn't the first time."
Lex remained calm, not forgetting to pull out an exquisite tin box from his pocket, light a cigarette, and take a puff of smoke.
"Damn it, I'm talking to you! Get out here right now!"
The people outside, seeing that he wasn't coming out and was still smoking, saw it as a blatant provocation and angrily raised their guns, pointing them at the car window.
"Fasten your seatbelts."
Lex ignored the people outside, his expression unusually calm, and said to the driver, "Move back a little."
Then he got up and pressed the button at the bottom of the steering wheel. "Defense system activated," a notification sound came from the stereo, and instantly a steel plate rose up from all four windows, covering the car and leaving only a narrow gap. The next second, to the astonishment of the three people inside the car, the car body suddenly bounced upwards, as if the wheels underneath had stretched and lengthened.
When did you modify this car?
Eve looked on in surprise.
"The world is too dangerous, I must keep improving."
Lex didn't explain much. The most important thing now was to get out of there. The fact that the other party dared to openly hijack the car meant that they were very confident. They couldn't just sit and wait to be killed.
"Stop spacing out, you idiot. This is off-road mode. Drive away from here."
At Lex's prompting, the driver frantically started the engine, used the rear camera to find a route, and immediately turned the car around.
outside.
Upon seeing this, the carjackers quickly retreated to the side of the road. The black sedan, carrying Lex and his companions, turned around and drove towards the factory area.
"Third brother, stop them!"
The big man raised his pistol and fired, but the bullet hit the steel plate with a "bang," leaving only a dent. He fired a few shots at the tire, but to his surprise, the deflated tire was still able to drive freely.
"coming!"
Inside the truck's cab, a thin man jerked the steering wheel, turning the massive truck around to block the oncoming black sedan.
Whoosh——
Unfortunately, it was too late. The nimble black sedan brushed past the truck, sparks flying from the friction, before smoothly veering to the other side and accelerating towards the factory area.
The man slammed his fist on the steering wheel in anger, cursing, "Fuck, they got away!"
"Huh, escaped."
The manager, the driver, and Eve all breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, the manager remembered: "There are still hostages on the bus."
"They shouldn't harm ordinary people."
Eve turned her head to look at the bus and truck getting further and further away. In that instant, through the crack in the window, she saw a yellow figure suddenly fly out of the roadside bushes. The figure had huge fists on its fists and charged straight at the bus.
Her fingers and toes clenched instinctively, and she cried out, "Luther!"
"Fake."
Lex Luthor also saw the figure rushing out from the side and cursed under his breath. The next second, a loud "bang" rang out, and the car door was smashed open, leaving a huge dent. As the four people inside the car saw the world go round and round, the entire car instantly overturned to the side of the road.
After tumbling several times, it was forcefully thrown into the dense forest, landing upside down. A thick plume of black smoke billowed from the hood and gradually filled the interior.
"Engine system malfunction!"
"The air conditioning system is malfunctioning and cannot ventilate!"
"Eve, Eve! Get out of here!"
Seeing Eve unconscious, Lex fanned the black smoke in front of his eyes, grabbed her, kicked open the car door, and dragged her out with all his might.
He didn't collapse to the ground, gasping for breath, until he was several meters away from the car.
"Lex Luthor? Looks like it's you."
At that moment, a figure dressed in yellow landed in front of Lex, squatted down, and carefully examined his appearance while holding the photo.
"Ahem, who sent you?"
Lex looked rather disheveled, his face covered in soot.
"There are plenty of people in the world who would pay you to save your life, I can't say for sure who will pay me, and you don't need to know who wants you."
The thug in yellow was wearing a mask. Judging from his voice, he was the previous man. He was wearing special steel gauntlets that could extend to reveal his white gloved hands.
"Heh, you'd better bring me back, or you'll pay the price!"
Lex, who was usually quite mild-mannered, was now losing his composure, his face extremely gloomy.
"I"
The thug stood up, took out his handcuffs, and shook them, about to say something.
Whoosh!
Suddenly a gust of wind swept by, and he disappeared, leaving Lex Luthor alone, feeling the lingering wind on his face.
"What's going on, where are the people?"
Lex's pupils constricted as he looked around in disbelief. The thugs had vanished without a trace, as if they had never been there.
Bang
However, he then witnessed a bizarre scene: the manager and driver, who were still inside the overturned car, appeared out of thin air in front of him, still unconscious.
"Who is it?"
Lex frowned, his sharp eyes revealing an unprecedented fear.
Who can make someone disappear into thin air and then reappear in an instant?
His gaze swept around again, and suddenly he felt a breeze behind him, followed by a tall figure looming over him. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see a familiar yet unfamiliar face looking down at him.
He's Superman.
The other person was staring at him with a strange expression.
"Lex Luthor, I've heard so much about you."
Chapter 49 [Author's Note on Launching the Book]
[Author's Note on Launch]:
My editor suddenly notified me today that I can publish my book. I didn't expect it to be so fast. This is my first book on Qidian. The results weren't great, but they weren't terrible either.
Of course, I know why my performance wasn't good. I'm not exactly a complete newbie. Before coming to Qidian, I wrote on other platforms, a fast-paced platform, and I also wrote American comics (I wrote several books in a row until I was sick of writing). However, I didn't write DC comics; I wrote Marvel harem slice-of-life and erotic novels. The main reason is that I don't really like writing fight scenes. As you can see, my fight scene writing skills are terrible. I can't write big scenes.
Thinking back to my first book that achieved some success in American comics, it was also about Superman, specifically Silver Superman. Back then, writing fight scenes would take me more than ten hours a day sitting in front of the computer. (However, I will try my best to improve my skills in this area.)
Going back to the reason why the results weren't very good, it's because I never thought I could get a contract for this book. I submitted it internally, and I only wrote 3,000 words before submitting it directly. I didn't expect it to be accepted (I hadn't been accepted several times before).
Perhaps because no one had written a Chinese version of Superman before, the editor thought the idea was good and approved it. This resulted in a rather chaotic beginning to the book, but fortunately, it was gradually adjusted later, preventing the book from being ruined. (Outline completed)
Anyway, now that it's been written and is ready for publication, this book definitely won't be abandoned. As I mentioned before, I make a living by writing online novels. This book has taken me more than a month to write, so it definitely won't be abandoned. I will continue writing until the end to practice and improve my long-form writing skills. The word count at the end is conservatively over 1.5 million words. There may be new ideas later that increase the word count, but for now, I'm writing according to the outline, with 1.5 million words as the minimum.
In the subsequent plot, the protagonist will definitely participate in various major events, but it will not follow the timeline and plot of the comics and movies. It will be a completely independent world line, somewhat similar to the New 52, with Darkseid and Dr. Manhattan appearing one after another.
Finally, let me mention the release date.
