Chapter 3 Dragon Egg
The next day, the alarm clock rang promptly at six o'clock in the morning.
Aaron skillfully picked it up with his eyes closed and threw it directly against the wall.
boom!
The world is quiet now, I'll continue sleeping; nothing can disturb my resolve to sleep.
But as soon as he closed his eyes, he remembered the pet egg he had received yesterday and suddenly sat up in bed.
The next moment, his eyes widened, and the confusion in them vanished instantly.
"Where's the dragon egg? Where did my pet egg go?" Aaron murmured in astonishment. He clearly put it on his desk last night, so how could it suddenly be gone!
His first thought was that the dragon egg had been stolen, but he quickly ruled that out.
Even if the Dark Lord were to be resurrected, the defensive magic of Gaius Castle would not be so easy to break through, and besides, he had only obtained this egg last night, and no one else knew of its existence.
Even if there really was a thief, he wouldn't bother stealing from an eleven-year-old's bedroom!
Why not just steal from the patriarch's room or the treasure vault?
In conclusion, there is only one truth: I was dreaming.
Aaron chuckled self-deprecatingly and leaned back, but as he lay down, he noticed a round object next to him.
"Oh, I'm going!"
Aaron looked at the dragon egg on the bed, then at his desk.
After carefully recalling what happened before going to bed last night, he looked at the egg with a scrutinizing gaze.
Seemingly sensing its owner's questioning gaze, the dragon egg became more obedient, but the patterns on its shell suddenly lit up.
"Oh dear! You're being naughty!"
Can you hear me?
A few seconds later, the dragon egg wobbled from side to side, and then wobbled back and forth.
"Wow! My dragon egg has made something of itself!" Aaron was quite excited. He had thought he wouldn't have a pet for seven days, but it seemed the time could be brought forward a little.
While others walk cats or dogs, the magical world is more likely to walk owls or toads.
So it's probably not wrong for him to train the dragon egg first before training the dragon!
But before it can actually hatch, it can only stay at home, otherwise it will attract too much attention.
"Come on, little one, let me take you out to soak up some sun. You absolutely deserve to experience the first rays of sunlight in the morning."
The dragon egg seemed very happy and jumped directly onto Aaron's hand.
As the door opened, Aaron, clutching the dragon egg, excitedly walked downstairs, a scene that was both adorable and comical.
When Genes saw Aaron, he was incredulous for a moment.
When did the young master start getting up so early? He used to never get up before seven o'clock.
But noticing the egg of the unknown creature that Aaron was holding, Genes frowned slightly. "Young Master, may I take a look at the egg in your hand?"
I consider myself quite knowledgeable, but I still can't tell what breed this egg is.
Could you satisfy the curiosity of the following subordinates?
"No," Aaron refused outright, clutching the dragon egg in his hands even tighter.
“Genes, I know you’re concerned for my safety, but this egg will absolutely not be of any use to me.”
It will be my pet from now on, and my most cherished companion.
"Young Master, even if you say that, it..."
Aaron immediately put on a serious face. "Uncle Genes, you watched me grow up. I don't want to use my status to pressure you, understand?"
"Understood." Genes said with a wry smile. To be frank, he was just a butler and didn't have the authority to make decisions for the young master.
"Shouldn't we inform the master and mistress about this?"
"Ahem! I'm already eleven years old, I don't need to report everything to them!" Aaron waved his hand. If they knew that his son was raising an egg of an unknown creature, they would probably drop their travel plans and rush back without stopping.
After saying that, Aaron was still a little uneasy. "Butler Genes, this is an order."
“Yes, I understand,” Genes said, no longer inquiring about the egg’s origin.
After all, with Gaius and his wife away, Aaron was the most powerful person in the castle, and he could even open the treasury. As the steward, he only knew a part of what was inside the treasury.
This egg might have been found by the young master in his playful state, deep within the treasure vault.
Aaron stepped out of the castle's living room and strode into the courtyard.
He was initially quite happy, but after about ten minutes, he felt his arms getting tired.
After all, he is only eleven years old this year, and the weight of this dragon egg is indeed a bit too heavy for him.
Two minutes later, he tied the dragon egg to a ribbon and used a levitation spell to put it in the air, where it looked like an oval white balloon from a distance.
"I'm such a genius, only I could have come up with such a great idea."
"It'll get plenty of sunshine, reduce its weight, and even help strengthen our bond—isn't that great?" Aaron chuckled to himself, completely unconcerned about whether the little guy wanted it or not.
Aaron flew the kite for a full hour before reluctantly putting it down and holding it in his arms again.
Genes, standing to the side, glanced at the dragon egg in the young master's hand and then at the joyful smile on his face. He felt a pang of emotion. It had been a long time since the young master had been this happy since the master and mistress had gone on their world tour.
After hesitating for a moment, Genes finally spoke up, reminding him, "Young master, it's already seven o'clock. Would you like to go to Diagon Alley or..."
"I'm in a good mood today, so I'll just eat at home."
"As for work hours, being delayed by an hour is no big deal," Aaron said casually.
He did want to take the dragon egg with him to Diagon Alley, but he quickly suppressed the idea.
Because this little guy is clearly not a creature that can stay idle. If people find out that the owner of Aaron's Drinks Shop is parading around with a dragon egg, then things will get really interesting.
He wasn't worried about the Ministry of Magic coming to his door, but he wasn't about to cause trouble either.
But what if someone secretly has designs on the little one?
This is the egg of an unknown creature. The patterns on its shell give it an indescribable mystery, and the vigorous vitality it displays even before hatching is rare even in the world of magical creatures.
All of these combined would make it worth more than a dragon egg, enough to tempt some desperate people to take the risk. Although he didn't need to worry about it with his covert defenses, it was still quite embarrassing to be under the 'surveillance' protection that he had protested against for so long.
"Um... I have to go to work in a bit. Stay in my room until I get back and don't wander off, okay?"
The little guy immediately protested, shaking an egg back and forth in front of Aaron to express his dissatisfaction.
I can't bear to part with you either!
But there's no way around it, you're too valuable. What if you get robbed if you go out with me?
The white dragon egg was still shaking. How dare you leave an egg like mine in your house? What kind of owner are you?
"Daily work is a must, don't worry, I'll definitely be back before dark."
"Once you hatch, I'll take you everywhere I go, okay?" Aaron said earnestly.
This time, the dragon egg stopped shaking and turned around with a touch of arrogance.
Seeing the two of them, one big and one small, haggling over the price, Genes couldn't help but chuckle.
The next moment, he felt a chill on his back.
Aaron stared at him with a cold smile, even the egg tilted slightly, casting a death stare through the shell along with its owner.
Genes couldn't help but swallow hard. "Well, young master, I'll go prepare breakfast for you right away."
"and many more."
“Oh, young master, you don’t need to say anything. I understand perfectly,” Genes said immediately. “This dragon egg is unable to eat for the time being. I will send someone to take good care of it, and the Egg Cult’s problems will also be resolved by a specialist.”
"I can take care of the little one on my own, so I don't need to trouble anyone else."
"As for the Egg Cult you mentioned!" Aaron looked at the dragon egg and said hesitantly, "I'll think about it."
As soon as she finished speaking, the dragon egg in her arms began to struggle.
"Ahem! Genes, I take back what I just said. We don't need the Egg Cult or anything like that."
Thank you for your kindness, but you should be able to tell that the little one is about to hatch, so a few days of egg-based education won't be very effective.
Genes: ......
Chapter 4 An Admission Notice
Aaron placed the dragon egg on the bed in the bedroom to bask in the sun. Although the light might shift as the sun moved, the little guy was so intelligent that he would definitely be able to roll to a sunny spot on his own.
"Young Master, we should set off now. You're already an hour late compared to usual."
"I know, I'm the boss, not a shop assistant. I can decide when to go," Aaron said impatiently.
“Then how about we skip it today? I see you’re having a lot of fun, young master. Compared to happiness, Galon and all that are nothing,” Genes said, and he genuinely thought so too.
"That won't do. As the boss, it's necessary to inspect the work."
You don't want me to be as irresponsible as my father when I take over the family business, do you?
Genes rubbed his nose in annoyance. Such remarks about the head of the family were not something a mere butler like him could make.
A few minutes later, the two went to the fireplace to use Floo Powder.
After a flash of green flame, they arrived at Aaron's Drinks in Diagon Alley, one after the other.
"System, sign in."
"Sign in at Diagon Alley to gain two magic points."
Hearing that familiar voice, Aaron nodded in satisfaction and immediately threw himself into his workday, which included learning some simple spells, reading the news in the newspaper, watching his employees work, and, incidentally, thinking about how to deduct their wages for the month.
After all, he's the boss! In this era where information networks aren't very developed, these are the only kinds of fun we can find.
Several hours later, Aaron lazily stood up from the recliner. "Genes, how about I go back and check on the little one? Could you please keep an eye on the shop for a bit?"
The next moment, Genes teleported directly in front of Aaron and said confidently, "Wherever the young master goes, I will go. This is the order the master gave me before he left."
