Barty Crouch once said that the first project would test the warrior's courage and ability to deal with danger... Could it be dragon fighting?
The thought of this possibility made Aaron uneasy.
He had killed dragons before, but unless it was a monstrous dragon like Smaug that had lived for countless ages, other dragons posed no threat to him. Dragon-slaying magic was no joke.
The problem is that he has placed too many restrictions on himself. Fighting a dragon on the field will make it much more difficult to hide his true strength than he expected.
“Phew! Where are they?” Aaron asked, but the next moment he realized the question was somewhat redundant.
Dragons, such dangerous magical creatures, certainly cannot be kept in Hogwarts Castle. The only place that can accommodate them is the Forbidden Forest, and there is only one person who can take care of them: Hagrid, the forest ranger.
"Looks like we need to make some plans," Aaron thought to himself. He lost interest in practicing magic circles and left the library with Abe in his arms.
After curfew that night, the door to the Slytherin common room suddenly opened.
Aaron cast an illusion spell on himself and then used an illusion projection as an extra layer of protection before heading towards the Forbidden Forest with the dragon.
Abe, smelling the scent of its kind, flew through the air to guide its owner.
As they passed Beauxbatons' carriage, they unexpectedly saw Hagrid. He was dressed more elegantly than usual, with no pungent odor, his hair was neatly combed, and he wore a strange yellow flower on his chest.
"Tsk tsk tsk! Looks like we've come at the wrong time!" Aaron shook his head. He knew without a doubt that Hagrid had come to ask Maxim out on a date.
However, calling someone out in the middle of the night is a bit of an inappropriate timing.
“Master, Hagrid has someone else with him!” Abe suddenly said.
"what?"
Aaron paused for a moment, then stared intently at the direction.
He hadn't noticed it before, but Abe's reminder made him immediately alert.
Harry Potter is definitely Harry Potter wearing an invisibility cloak.
It seems he wasn't the only one gathering intelligence late at night!
Madam Maxim alighted from the carriage, and she and Hagrid chatted and laughed as they walked toward the Forbidden Forest.
“Follow them.” Aaron made a quick decision, pulling Abe down from mid-air and carefully following behind the two.
After driving for a long time along the edge of the forbidden forest, they heard a deafening roar.
Abe was particularly excited at this moment, and spread his wings to fly over, but was firmly suppressed by Aaron.
He could understand Abe's feelings. He had only ever seen one of his kind, Norber, in his entire life. Now that he had the opportunity to see other dragons, it was inevitable that he would be a little restless.
Before long, Hagrid and Maxim stopped.
In front of them was a huge arena where five enormous adult fire dragons were imprisoned, the smallest of which was twenty or thirty meters long.
Their legs and necks were chained, and dozens of wizards were divided into five groups to subdue them.
Puffs of dragon flame spewed from their mouths, illuminating the nearby night sky.
“Welsh Green Dragon, Chinese Fireball, Swedish Short-nosed Dragon, Hungarian Tree-peaked Dragon, Australian White-eyed Dragon,” Aaron murmured. He had only seen these dragons in his encyclopedia before; he never expected to see them alive today.
"Stay there and don't move, Hagrid," shouted a wizard holding a chain. "They can breathe fire up to twenty feet away, and I've seen this Tree Peak Dragon breathe fire up to forty feet away."
Aaron silently noted down this data; if he were to fight the Tree Peak Dragon, he would have to maintain a safe distance of fifty feet.
"Recite the stun spell, count to three, and recite it all at once," a wizard shouted.
The wizards in front of each dragon instinctively pulled out their wands, counted "one, two, three," and chanted in unison, "Faint and fall to the ground."
Each dragon was hit with at least seven stun spells before it gradually calmed down and slowly lay down on the ground.
Their mouths were wide open, and black smoke mixed with sparks billowed from their nostrils.
The dragon trainers put down their wands and, while the dragons slept, reinforced the chains, securing them firmly to the iron post, and then used their wands to drive the post into the ground.
“How are you, Hagrid?” Charlie Weasley, one of Ron’s brothers, came over. “They should be alright now. We gave them some sedatives.”
I thought they'd feel better if I woke them up at night, but it seems they're not happy at all.
"What kinds are there, Charlie?"
"Hungarian Tree Peak, Welsh Green Dragon, Swedish Short-nosed Dragon, Chinese Fireball Dragon, and Australian Protein Eye."
Maxim began to stroll around the enclosure, seemingly wanting to observe each dragon up close.
Charlie frowned when he saw this.
"Hagrid, why did you bring her along?"
She'll definitely tell her students, but the Warriors shouldn't know this before the game.
"Just to see it for myself." Hagrid stared at the dragons with fascination. "The competition isn't going to be about fighting dragons, is it?"
"Probably not, it would be an almost impossible task for the Warriors as well."
I think I'll just pass by them, but that depends on luck. I just hope I don't run into the Hungarian Tree-Peaked Dragon, which is the most dangerous.
These are all female dragons that will be incubating their eggs; we also brought a nest of dragon eggs with us.
"A dragon egg?" Hagrid's eyes flashed with a strange light and a deep longing, and he couldn't help but groan.
"I've counted Hagrid, so you'd better not get any funny ideas," Charlie warned helplessly, clearly aware of Hagrid's obsession with dragons.
Chapter 365 Is Life More Important Than Rules? Last-Minute Cramming
Aaron carried the reluctant Abe back the way he came, feeling slightly more relaxed than when he arrived.
The first project was indeed related to dragons, but according to Charlie, it didn't seem to be the kind of one-on-one life-or-death duel.
This is good news for him, because he can speak dragon language. As long as his opponent is not a hot-tempered dragon like a Tree Peak Dragon, Fireball Dragon, or Short-nosed Dragon, there is a possibility of negotiation.
"Hey! Who's there?"
Karkaroff's voice suddenly came from the darkness, which startled Aaron, who thought that his illusion spell and illusion magic had been exposed.
But when he saw Karkaroff looking in the exact opposite direction, he realized he had been overthinking things.
It's highly likely that Harry wasn't paying attention and bumped into him.
But then again, it's quite interesting. Two days before the first project was scheduled to begin, the principals of Beauxbatons and Durmstrang knew about the project's details, and they were sure to tell their school's warriors.
And he and Harry were mentally prepared enough, so in this respect, the one who suffered the most loss was Cedric Diggory.
The day before the competition, Aaron had breakfast in the auditorium and then began a leisurely stroll around the school.
Relaxing and adjusting your mindset before the competition is quite necessary.
“Aaron.” Harry walked over with a troubled look on his face. “Are you free now? There’s something I want to talk to you about.”
"You said."
"Dragon, adult fire dragon is our first project."
I saw them in the Forbidden Forest yesterday.
"understood."
"what?"
Harry was completely bewildered; Aaron's nonchalant reaction was nothing like what he had expected.
"Didn't you understand what I said?" Harry asked anxiously. "Or do you think I'm joking with you?"
"Of course not. You were with Hagrid that night, along with Ms. Maxim and Professor Karkaroff."
I was there too, and I saw those five dragons with my own eyes, especially the Hungarian Tree-peaked Dragon; the bronze spikes on its tail were truly impressive.
“You…” Harry opened his mouth in a daze, “But how did you know? Did Adrian tell you?”
“Don’t be silly, she’s very proper and wouldn’t tell me this.” Aaron said, patting Abe in his arms. “But I have it. Abe sensed the presence of its kind after those dragons were brought here.”
"I see." Harry chuckled awkwardly, then asked, "So, have you figured out how to get this project approved?"
"It depends on the specific situation. After all, we only know that the first project is related to dragons, but it is definitely not a life-or-death battle with dragons."
"Then do you have any ideas?" Harry said bitterly. "You know me, one breath of dragon's breath and I might be gone."
"Ah..." Aaron hesitated for a moment, then shook his head helplessly. "I have my own methods, and more than one, but none of them are suitable for you."
You could ask Professor McGonagall or Professor Moody; they might have some good ideas.
"But shouldn't the Warriors know the game format in advance?"
"Is life more important or the rules?" Aaron asked with a meaningful smile. "If you're really worried about that, why did you tell me about the competition?"
“Understood.” Harry nodded emphatically. “I’ll go see Professor Moody.”
"By the way, there's one more thing.
Sirius Black guessed that Karkaroff was the one who put my name in the Goblet of Fire; he used to be... a Death Eater.
"What?"
Aaron stared in astonishment, his eyes widening.
Damn, this is absolutely outrageous.
It's one thing for a female giant to become the headmistress of Beauxbatons, but for a Death Eater to become the headmistress of Durmstrang is far more prestigious than Dumbledore's status as the White Lord.
"Kakarov used to be a Death Eater, but after he was captured, he gave up a list of many of his accomplices and was released from Azkaban to atone for his crimes."
Professor Moody was someone Dumbledore specifically hired to monitor him.
"What a talent!" Aaron chuckled. "Kakalov's current situation isn't very good."
The Dark Mark has appeared; Voldemort will definitely be on the list of those to be eliminated after his resurgence.
"Perhaps! But the important thing now is that we need to be careful of him."
Not just him, but also Durmstrang's warrior, Viktor Krum.
"Understood, I'll keep an eye on it," Aaron said. If Karkaroff was problematic, then his student was naturally also suspect.
“That’s all I have to say,” Harry shrugged. “Before I go to Professor Moody, I need to tell Cedric about the first project, just to be fair.”
"what ever."
After Harry left, he found Cedric on a lawn.
He was surrounded by several Hufflepuffs, making him easy to spot.
