“My teacher’s room,” Caspian said, then gently knocked on the door. “Professor.”
With no response, Caspian seemed to realize something and immediately pried open the window and climbed inside.
The room was in a mess, with books scattered everywhere, as if it had been ransacked by robbers.
Caspian picked up the glasses from a book, his expression filled with worry. "We have to find him."
"Time is limited, we should go open the door," Aaron said anxiously. "Besides, to put it bluntly, your teacher might not even be alive."
"No, the teacher is definitely still alive."
He was the most knowledgeable person in the Kingdom of Tanmor and the one who understood Narnia best. Before erasing Narnia, Miraz wouldn't have done anything to him; he would have definitely imprisoned him.
"There's no time," Peter said helplessly.
"You wouldn't have gotten here without him, and neither would I."
Aaron patted his forehead. "Let's continue according to the original plan, except Caspian and I will split up."
He went to rescue the people, and I went to open the door.
"Can you manage on your own?" Chumbukin asked. "You don't know this castle, and it will be very difficult without Caspian's help."
“How about we switch? I’ll deal with Miraz, and Peter and Susan will open the door.”
“That’s even more dangerous,” Susan said, shaking her head.
“I’ll come help you after I save him, and opening the door in time won’t be a problem,” Caspian assured him.
Peter and Susan exchanged a glance and reluctantly agreed to the minor adjustments to the plan.
The group left the room and went in different directions: Caspian went to the prison, Chumpukin went to the control room, and Peter and Susan went to the king's bedroom.
Aaron took a few steps and then turned back. He closed the door and looked down through the open window.
A huge, heavy iron gate came into view, and the turntable that controlled it was placed next to the city wall.
"As a mage, clearing this dungeon is... way too easy for me," Aaron remarked simply, before pulling out a wand that he hadn't used for several days from his sleeve.
"Araho Cave is open."
The turntable rotated rapidly counterclockwise, and the iron gate rose accordingly.
"Mission accomplished." Aaron stretched, found a chair in the room, and sat down leisurely, waiting for the signal to launch the attack.
Meanwhile, soldiers patrolling the control room spotted a cat under the window, but its mouth and limbs were tied up with thin ropes.
The soldier immediately became alert and reached for the hilt of his sword with his right hand.
Swish!
The sound of a sword being drawn rang out behind him, and he instinctively turned around.
Reppechip hung upside down in mid-air with a rope wrapped around his tail, meeting the soldiers' astonished gazes. "Yes, I am a rat."
As soon as he finished speaking, the blade sliced through the soldier's throat, and he collapsed to the ground.
Reppechip waved his hand, and the two rats immediately rushed toward the guard at the door.
After dealing with him, one mouse stepped on the back of another, forming a makeshift mouse ladder.
Reppechip stood at the top, reached for the key on the door, and opened it.
Chuanbujin rushed in and shot the last guard dead.
“I thought the person who came would be taller,” Reppechip said with a hint of helplessness.
“I’m taller than you,” Chumbukin said casually. Dwarves are short, but it depends on who you’re compared to.
Is this considered irony?
Chuanbujin ignored him and turned to lock the door.
Chapter 434 The plan collapsed, try it and you'll die.
Caspian sneaks into the prison and finds his mentor, Dr. Cornelius.
The fat old man with white beard and hair was fast asleep on a bed made of straw. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Caspian unlocking his handcuffs.
"What are you doing here?" Cornelius looked at him with a mixture of surprise and anger. "I helped you escape, not so you could break into this place. You have to leave before Miraz finds you."
“He’ll find out soon enough.” Caspian placed Cornelius’s glasses in his hands and chuckled easily. “I’m going to give him your room.”
After saying that, Caspian prepared to leave the cell and help Aaron open the castle gate.
Cornelius quickly pulled him back, "Don't underestimate Miraz like your father did."
"What did you say?" Caspian's eyes widened suddenly as he realized that his father's death was somewhat suspicious.
Cornelius was silent for a few seconds, then said, "I'm sorry."
Upon hearing this apologetic reply, Caspian was immediately certain of his suspicions: his uncle had murdered his father for the throne, while he had been kept in the dark all along.
Caspian lost his mind and rushed toward Miraz's room.
He couldn't care less about the battle plan anymore; at this moment, his father's death was more important to him than anything else.
Knowing the castle well, he found Miraz before Peter and Susan and woke him from his slumber with the cold tip of his sword.
“Caspian? What are you doing?” Miraz’s wife, who is now the queen of the Tanmo, looked at her nephew in astonishment, not understanding why he was doing this.
“I think that’s obvious,” Miraz said calmly, without the slightest hint of panic. “Some relatives will feel that this action is inappropriate.”
"That didn't stop you..."
“But you’re not like me either!” Miraz calmly took a step forward, while Caspian seemed afraid of being killed and took a half step back.
"What a pity, your first attempt at showing such backbone has been in vain."
click!
The queen had somehow produced a crossbow and aimed it at Caspian.
“Put down the sword, Caspian. I don’t want to do this.”
“We didn’t want to do this either.” Susan and Peter arrived just in time, and she aimed a red arrow at the Queen.
The situation suddenly became complicated. Now both sides were hesitant to act rashly, as neither dared to make any sudden moves.
Miraz suppressed his anger and shrugged helplessly. "This was supposed to be a private room."
“What are you doing here? You should go open the door,” Peter said wearily to Caspian.
"Aaron is in charge of the city gates; he'll handle it well."
"Do you really think a fifteen-year-old can open the city gate by himself?" Susan said speechlessly. "Without you, he probably wouldn't even know where he is."
"Fifteen years old? A child?" Caspian seemed to have heard a joke, and his hand holding the sword trembled slightly. "You haven't seen how he interrogated me."
Honestly, it's fortunate he's not our enemy, otherwise, even if all of us combined, we wouldn't be able to beat him.
"Looks like you've made some new friends," Miraz said with a smile. "Could you introduce me to them?"
“Shut up.” Caspian pointed at Miraz’s neck. “Tell me the truth. Did you kill my father?”
Miraz's expression froze instantly. "You came here for this?"
"You said your brother died in his sleep." The queen seemed to have remembered something, looking at her husband with suspicion and uncertainty.
“In a sense, you could say that,” Miraz admitted. “In fact, I was very humane; he died without any pain.”
"How could you do this?" the queen said, stunned.
“You would have done the same if you were in my shoes. For our son’s sake, you should pull the trigger now.” Miraz said as he slowly stepped forward, blood gushing from his neck as the longsword pierced his neck.
"Stop!" the queen shouted.
With the crossbow pointed at him, Caspian had no choice but to retreat. He was certain that if Miraz died, his aunt would not hesitate to shoot him into a sieve.
"Do you want our son to be king?" Miraz continued aggressively, "or do you want him to become a second Caspian, losing his father?"
Upon hearing this, the queen turned deathly pale and screamed as she pulled the trigger.
The crossbow bolt struck Caspian squarely in the shoulder, and the sharp pain made him drop his longsword.
Miraz acted decisively, bursting through the door and running out.
Susan immediately shot an arrow, but unfortunately it was blocked by the door and missed.
The queen's scream carried very far, startling Edmund, who was waiting for Peter's signal in the tower. He dropped his flashlight, which was picked up by a soldier.
The soldier pressed the button on it without understanding what was going on, and a bright white light shone into his eyes, almost making him throw the thing away.
The Narnia army outside the castle was also completely bewildered as they watched the beam of light swaying from side to side on the tower.
What does this signal mean? It wasn't mentioned in the battle plan!
when!when!when!
An alarm sounded inside the castle, signaling an invasion by foreign enemies.
All the soldiers were alarmed and rushed out of the barracks with their weapons.
Aaron, who was yawning, rubbed his eyes groggily and was speechless as he listened to the alarm outside.
While plans can't keep up with changes, this change is a bit too drastic!
Before the signal to attack was given, the alarms inside the castle went off, meaning they had completely lost their advantage in the surprise attack.
"Time to go." Aaron stretched his limbs, then teleported and stood openly in front of the turntable switch.
He couldn't control which part of the plan went wrong, but his part was flawless.
The white light on the tower caught Aaron's eye. He looked closely and saw Edmund engaged in fierce hand-to-hand combat with a Tanmor soldier, while the flashlight lay quietly in the corner.
"Holy crap! What kind of luck is this?"
"Edmund, quick, signal! Attack!" Peter rushed out of the castle, sword in hand, and sprinted toward the city gate. The soldiers in the way couldn't stop him at all.
"I'm busy here!" Edmund said anxiously, and in his haste, he picked up a flashlight and slapped it on the soldier's head.
The soldier fainted, but the flashlight also malfunctioned.
Peter, Susan, and Caspian arrived at the city gate, panting heavily. They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that Aaron had already opened the gate.
"Send the retreat signal!" Aaron said earnestly. "We have suffered no losses, and it's not too late to abandon the plan now."
