"Uncle Genes, has anything major happened in the wizarding world while I was away?"
"Everything appears normal on the surface."
"The surface?" Aaron raised an eyebrow. "So that means there's something fishy going on underneath?"
"More or less!" Genes said noncommittally. "The Dark Lord is secretly gathering his old followers, and at the same time, he is sparing no effort to win over other dark wizards, giants, werewolves, vampires, and magical creatures are also on his list."
As for the White Demon King, he naturally stood on the opposite side and tried to stop him from doing what he wanted to do.
However, both sides maintained a certain level of understanding, engaging in covert maneuvering rather than open confrontation.
“This was all within my expectations,” Aaron said casually, picking up a cup of tea. “Let me tell you something I didn’t know.”
"Harry Potter will be tried by the Ministry of Magic the day after tomorrow."
Pfft! Cough cough!
Aaron spat out a mouthful of tea and coughed several times before he could barely catch his breath. "This news is really quite explosive."
What has he done this time to warrant the Ministry of Magic's attention?
"To use magic in front of Muggles."
"That's it?" Aaron found it somewhat amusing. "I remember Harry turned his aunt into a balloon two years ago, and the Ministry of Magic didn't do anything to him then."
Besides, Harry couldn't possibly be unaware of the rule that underage wizards cannot use magic outside of school; there must be a reason why he did this!
"I heard that he and his cousin encountered a Dementor and, in desperation, used the Patronus Charm."
“That’s even more interesting,” Aaron laughed. “It’s clearly written in the law that underage wizards can use magic in front of Muggles when they are in danger.”
For such a trivial matter, he's being questioned by the Ministry of Magic? It seems Fudge is determined to have a complete falling out with Dumbledore.
“It’s probably his obsession with power that drove him to do something so absurd,” Genes said. “Young Master hasn’t been paying much attention to the Daily Prophet lately, and public opinion is very unfavorable to both Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore.”
"This is the benefit of having power; the Minister of Magic still has control over public opinion."
It seems Fudge still refuses to face reality and admit Voldemort's resurrection!
“That’s one of the downsides of wielding power,” Genes said with a more serious tone. “Fudge has started to lose all shame in order to maintain his power.”
Over time, Connelly Fudge will become a tool of power, willing to stop at nothing to achieve his goals.
"He doesn't have that chance. A greedy guy like him can't hold onto the ministerial position. It's only a matter of time before he steps down."
"That's true."
"Uncle Genes, please make some arrangements for me."
I'm going to the Ministry of Magic the day after tomorrow; please save me a seat in the gallery.
"this..."
"Is there a problem?"
“No, no problem, not at all.” Genes’ lips twitched slightly. “But young master, I must remind you that Harry Potter’s trial has absolutely nothing to do with you.”
"And you don't need to worry, young master. Although Fudge is the Minister of Magic, he can't control everything. Dumbledore will likely be Harry Potter's defense attorney, so he'll definitely be fine."
"Of course I know he'll be fine, but I've never been to a trial in the magical world."
Genes: ......
......
Two days later, after having breakfast, Aaron followed Genes to the fireplace.
"Can't we just use Phantom Teleportation to get there?"
"Of course we can, but since we're not Ministry of Magic staff, it's more appropriate to go via the Floo Network."
Upon hearing this, Aaron obediently grabbed a handful of Floo Powder, uttered "Ministry of Magic," and sprinkled the powder.
puff!
Green flames rose, and the two figures disappeared.
A magnificent hall with a row of fireplaces on each side.
A fireplace on the left suddenly made a soft sound, and Genes and Aaron came out from it.
Aaron briefly surveyed his surroundings. The ground was covered with dark wooden flooring, the peacock blue ceiling was inlaid with glittering gold symbols, and the walls were made of black square stones. In the center was a circular fountain with a pure gold statue of a wizard standing on it, surrounded by statues of centaurs, elves, and house-elves.
Countless male and female wizards rushed from all directions and headed in different directions, making a chaotic sound of footsteps.
"This is the main hall of the Ministry of Magic, located on the eighth basement level."
Above that are the Department of Magical Sports, the Department of Magical Transportation, the Department of International Magical Cooperation, the Department of Magical Creatures Management and Control, the Department of Magical Accidents and Disasters, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, and at the very top, the Minister's office. "Harry Potter's trial was originally scheduled to take place in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, but Fudge cleverly changed the location to the tenth basement level and moved the time forward by an hour to 8:00 AM."
"It's a little different from what I remember," Aaron muttered. "This renovation is miles ahead of what I used to know."
“That’s perfectly normal.” Genes chuckled. “The last time the young master was brought by the old patriarch. Back then, the British wizarding world was still under Voldemort’s shadow, and the environment of the Ministry of Magic was naturally incomparable to what it is now.”
"By the way, what was my grandfather doing here with me back then?" Aaron asked with interest.
Genes paused for a moment, then said, "It's nothing."
"Really? I'm a little skeptical."
“It’s really nothing, I can vouch for it with my integrity,” Genes said sheepishly. “At that time, the young master was not even a year old, and the old patriarch brought you here just to recognize him.”
Aaron looked at Genes suspiciously, feeling that he was trying to cover something up.
However, he didn't ask any more questions. Things that happened more than ten years ago were too far removed from him, and he wasn't interested in knowing about them.
The two walked toward the elevator, passing the fountain. Aaron saw that the pool was covered with a layer of glittering silver and copper coins, but there were very few gold coins.
A sign next to it reads: All proceeds from the Magic Brothers Fountain are donated to the St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries.
Aaron was hesitating whether to be kind and throw a Galleon into the pool when Abe in his arms couldn't contain himself any longer and stretched out his white claws toward the water.
It didn't want to donate money; it wanted to put the coins in the pond into its own pocket.
"Holy crap!" Aaron slapped it on the head. "You better behave yourself in public!"
Abe let out a sob and turned her face away, feeling wronged.
Aaron was speechless. He had seen plenty of gold and silver, but this money-grubbing habit seemed to be ingrained in his bones and was hard to change.
They made their way through the crowded people and entered the elevator.
Genes pressed the button for the ninth floor, the golden gate closed, and the elevator slowly descended.
"Department of Mysterious Affairs"
A cold female voice rang out in the elevator, and the elevator doors swung open with a clatter.
"The elevator can't reach the tenth floor, so we have to take the stairs."
The courtroom is located at the deepest point underground, but we still have about ten minutes; we'll definitely make it in time.
Chapter 447 The Supreme Court, Interrupted One After Another
The two walked through a long corridor and down a door to the tenth floor.
This floor was entirely composed of courtrooms. After passing through the first and ninth courtrooms, they saw a large black door, behind which lay the tenth courtroom.
Cornelius Fudge and Lucius Malfoy were also there, talking about something, but stopped talking when they saw the two of them appear.
“Welcome.” Fudge’s face instantly changed to a smile. “I didn’t expect you, Aaron, to be interested in Harry Potter’s public trial.”
“No, it has nothing to do with Harry Potter,” Aaron said seriously. “I came here purely on a whim, wanting to witness the trial in the wizarding world.”
Fudge paused, looking at Aaron with some suspicion. "As far as I know, your relationship with Harry Potter..."
“We’re just friends,” Aaron interrupted. “So Minister, you don’t need to worry that I’ll speak up for him, and I trust the Ministry of Magic will be fair and impartial.”
However, I have a small question, and I hope Minister Fouché can answer it for me.
"What is it?"
“Even if a minor wizard did use magic outside of school, there’s no need to organize a trial in Wizengamo!” Aaron’s face was full of incomprehension. “This is the highest court in the wizarding world. Using it to try a minor is making a mountain out of a molehill.”
"Ah this..."
Fudge was momentarily speechless; he couldn't very well say that he was deliberately making things difficult for Harry Potter!
Logically speaking, such a minor matter could be handled simply by asking a few questions to a specialized department and then releasing him without charge. However, he used his ministerial power to escalate the case to the standard of a Death Eater trial, intending to magnify the matter infinitely and ideally expel Harry Potter from the wizarding world so that the rumors of Voldemort's return could be effectively curbed.
“Because of Harry Potter’s special status,” Lucius Malfoy suddenly said, giving Fudge a way out. “Harry Potter is, after all, the savior of the wizarding world, so he can’t be treated like everyone else.”
“Yes, that’s it,” Fudge said hastily.
"I see." Aaron nodded, then looked at Lucius. "Uncle Lucius, are you here to listen in as well?"
“No, I just have some personal matters to discuss with Minister Fudge,” Lucius said calmly, as if the attack on Aaron by their Death Eaters two months ago was completely unrelated.
Aaron gave a meaningful smile, convinced that Lucius Malfoy had played a significant role in the trial of Harry Potter.
"Then we'll go in first. Please give my regards to Draco."
Fudge pushed open the door and entered the courtroom first, followed by Aaron and Genes, who then sat in the empty gallery.
Fifty wizards dressed in crimson robes sat on the tiered chairs at the front, looking at the two people Fudge had brought with them, equally puzzled.
"Let me introduce these two to you..."
“Mr. Genes,” several surprised voices came from the judge's bench, “what brings you here?”
“Let’s show the Gaius family heir the world.” Genes smiled and pointed to Aaron sitting next to him, introducing him: “My young master is a student at Hogwarts, in the same class as Harry Potter, the person you are going to judge.”
Of course, everyone should not feel guilty; just do what you believe is fair and just.
As soon as he finished speaking, the judge's bench erupted in uproar.
Those who knew Genes and Aaron's identities wore solemn expressions, feeling that they had to be dutiful in the upcoming trial, while those who did not know their identities looked displeased, feeling that the two were being somewhat arrogant.
But since they were brought by the Minister of Magic, they couldn't really say anything.
"Looks like I don't need to introduce you." Fudge gave the two of them an awkward but polite smile, then walked to his seat, right in the center of the judge's bench.
He was flanked by two witches, the Director of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and the Deputy Minister of Magic, respectively, while Ron's brother, Percy Weasley, was in charge of taking notes.
“Uncle Genes, it seems like some of the judges recognize you!” Aaron looked at him with amusement. “Aren’t you going to explain?”
"It's nothing, I just helped them with a small favor before."
