"What about the second way to become a god?"
“Faith, an immense faith,” Aaron said solemnly, “but this requires a long period of accumulation.”
"I have plenty of time," Voldemort said with some pride. Although he was not a god yet, he was confident that his lifespan could rival that of a god.
"I believe that, but if one becomes a god in this way, one's own strength will be affected by one's faith to a certain extent."
And to put it bluntly, you might be competing with God for a job.
"It doesn't matter, it's nothing at all," Voldemort laughed. He had experience with getting on the bus first and then buying the ticket later. What he was afraid of was not even being able to get on the bus and not being able to reach the destination on foot.
Moreover, his current goal is to unify the magical world. Once he achieves this, he can then control the entire Muggle world, and a continuous stream of faith will be readily available.
To put it bluntly, this path is the best shortcut for him, so there's no reason not to take it.
“Mr. Gaius, I am very satisfied with this answer.”
"I look forward to the day you succeed," Aaron said with a forced smile. If he could succeed, God wouldn't need to work anymore.
Did your ancestors leave behind anything? Like powerful weapons?
“This…” Aaron paused slightly, thinking of the weapons Genes had mentioned before, “There should be some, but I’m not sure.”
"How come you don't even know this?" Little Barty said sarcastically.
"Nonsense, if I knew everything, I would be the clan leader."
From as far back as I can remember, I've been trying to avoid these responsibilities, and I don't really know much about the secrets of my family.
"Then you must know the mission that the Gaius family has always carried out, right?"
From what I understand, your parents have been traveling the world a lot in recent years; don't tell me they're just sightseeing.
“It really is true.” Aaron clapped his hands excitedly. “I’ve never seen such irresponsible parents.”
According to Vico and the others, they were still young and didn't want to waste time on children, so they entrusted me to the butler for upbringing.
Voldemort's lips twitched. "Tell me about your family's mission!"
"I'm sorry, I can't say."
However, I can tell you that this mission will not affect your plans, and the same goes for the other three families.
Also, here's a piece of advice: don't try to uncover our secrets. Salazar Slytherin must have given you some kind of warning!
Voldemort pondered for a moment, then laughed. "I know what I'm doing. I don't know what kind of foundation a family created by a god has, but I don't want to try it."
The reason I went to such lengths to lure you here was simply to learn a few things, and it seems I've gained quite a bit.
"You know everything, can we go now?" Aaron asked expectantly.
"Do you think that's possible?" Voldemort raised an eyebrow, and the faces of the ten Death Eaters also showed a hint of mockery.
"Surely the descendants of Slytherin wouldn't go back on their word!"
"Did I promise you anything?" Voldemort asked with a smile. "I will spare them, but that doesn't mean I will let them go. As for you... I'm even less likely to let you go."
But don't worry, I won't kill you. Just stay put until I unify the magical world and don't ruin my plans.
"In the end, there's no way to avoid it!" Aaron scratched his head, twirling the black wand twice between his fingertips before firmly grasping it in his hand.
It seems that now he only has one path left: a fight to the death. He is very frustrated. He tried everything to buy time and even managed to stall Voldemort, but the Order of the Phoenix is still nowhere to be seen.
Even if Bella set up an anti-Apparition spell, the Ministry of Magic has plenty of Floo Networks, so is it really that difficult to get here?
“You should have been prepared,” Lucius said.
Aaron nodded noncommittally. "To be honest, it might be a good thing to avoid the coming storm in the magical world this way, but I'm not willing to do it."
“It’s not up to you.” Barty Jr. drew his wand, then looked at Voldemort. “Master…”
“If he doesn’t cooperate, then help him out. Besides… according to the Gaius family’s rules, even if you kill him, you won’t be punished.”
Aaron: ......
Does it have to be this blunt?
"Did you hear that?" Little Barty sneered and tilted his head. "Is it surrendering, resisting to the bitter end and being taken back half-dead, or dying without a burial place?"
"You can't kill me, not just you, none of you can kill me," Aaron said confidently. At this point, his biggest trump card was no longer his thought body, but his immortality.
Even if Voldemort himself took action, he couldn't kill him. But if Voldemort discovered that he possessed immortality, then his small goal of ruling the magical world would probably have to be put on hold.
"Arrogant. We're not on the same level as last year's Death Eaters."
“The quality is indeed much higher, which is a huge challenge for me as well,” Aaron said calmly, then looked nervously at Voldemort, “Would the Dark Lord be interested in joining us?”
“If they can’t take you down,” Voldemort grinned, revealing a sinister smile. “Do you think I don’t know what you’re thinking?”
"I regret to inform you that you will not receive reinforcements this time. My servants will buy me enough time that they will find the Mysterious Affairs Bureau in ruins when they arrive."
Aaron: ......
The case is solved; no wonder it took so long for reinforcements to arrive.
Logically speaking, Professor Snape should have informed the Order of the Phoenix. Harry Potter is still here; he wouldn't be so careless!
Chapter 503 Forced to Fight Ten, Three Seriously Injured, Six Lightly Injured
"Attack together, don't give him a chance to react," Little Barty said seriously. He had witnessed Aaron's strength last year. Although he spoke contemptuously of Aaron, he dared not be careless in the slightest.
As soon as he finished speaking, a ball of green light shot out from his wand.
"Avada eats the big melon!"
At the same time, nine other Death Eaters launched an attack.
Red, white, green, and blue spells shot towards Aaron from several different directions. As he dodged, he raised his wand to block, and his own magic power rapidly gathered in the process.
"Enveloped in clouds and fog."
A thick white fog quickly spread, filling the entire room in the blink of an eye and obscuring everyone's view.
"Take away this fog," Lucius shouted, and the two Death Eaters closest to him raised their wands in unison, creating a spinning vortex of wind.
The thick fog was swallowed up, and everyone's vision returned to normal.
"Where is he?" Bella searched for Aaron's location angrily, cursing, "Is it another illusion?"
“It’s an illusion, but with an additional layer of illusion spell.” Voldemort’s bloodshot eyes looked at the platform. “A skillful disguise, but it’s no match for me.”
Aaron reluctantly withdrew the magic from his body. "Is it fun for a peak archmage like you to bully a fifth-year wizard like me?"
"You're not your average fifth grader!" Voldemort said with a smile and a wave of his hand. Harry and his friends, bound by ropes, were uncontrollably thrown to the corner of the wall.
"The audience is in position. Let them witness the power of the Death Eaters."
The Death Eaters immediately attacked, unleashing a deluge of colorful spells once again.
"grass!
"Let's have a one-on-one fight if you dare!"
Aaron cursed loudly, but his hands didn't slow down at all.
Suddenly, strands of orange-yellow energy appeared, forming a three-dimensional magic circle with flowing mysterious runes, enveloping him within it.
All the spells that struck the magic circle vanished without a trace, not even the Killing Curse made a ripple.
The Death Eaters, who had never seen this magic before, were dumbfounded. Was this really a spell that a student who hadn't even graduated could play?
"What are you standing there for?" Little Barty scolded, exasperated. "He can't hold out for long with this magic."
The Death Eaters realized what was happening and immediately intensified their attack.
Aaron knew he couldn't just defend forever. After withstanding a wave of attacks, he suddenly unleashed his magic, and the orange-red shockwave forced all the Death Eaters back several steps.
“Hahaha…” Bella laughed wildly, but her face quickly turned cold. “I never thought Hogwarts could produce such interesting students.”
"Gentlemen... don't even think about showing mercy. To avoid accidentally losing our lives, it's better to try and kill him."
"That's exactly what I was thinking." Antonin waved his wand with a cold smile. "Avada Kedavra, you big melon!"
Aaron dodged the incoming green light, but at that moment several scarlet spells flew out from different directions, blocking his escape route.
"Armor protection!"
"There are many obstacles!"
The Ironclad Curse and the Barrier Curse were cast one after another, and the invisible barrier barely blocked these spells, but in the next moment it was overwhelmed by more spells, forcing him to flee in panic.
"This is outrageous!" Aaron felt incredibly aggrieved as he ran, two flames gathering in his hands. "Fire Dragon's Blazing Flame!"
A crimson vortex of flames spread outwards from him in layers, causing the temperature in the room to soar rapidly, and even the ground began to melt.
Barty and Bella raised their wands to defend themselves, but many more Death Eaters retreated frantically, escaping the flames' range.
Before they could even get their footing, a huge yellow magic circle appeared beneath their feet.
The ground trembled violently, and countless spikes of earth grew wildly, surging towards the Death Eaters.
They did not retreat, not only because the Dark Lord was watching them from behind, but also because their retreat speed could not keep up with the growth of the earth spikes.
"Thunderbolt explosion!"
"Split into pieces!"
Various colored spells, like laser beams, shattered the growing soil spikes, even outpacing their growth rate, and shot towards Aaron at the center.
"Tsk! A high-level magic circle is still a bit of a stretch to deal with so many elite mages." Aaron chuckled self-deprecatingly, then lightly waved his black wand.
The ground beneath his feet shot up into the sky, carrying him away from the incoming spells. At the same time, an ice-blue magic circle slowly rotated in the air above the ceiling.
"What is this thing?" Bella cursed.
"You'll find out soon enough." Aaron rubbed his hands together, and the magic circle lit up instantly, unleashing a torrential downpour of countless ice blades.
"Defend!" Lucius shouted. "Defend now!"
Even without his prompting, the Death Eaters almost instinctively raised their wands to create a shield above themselves.
The crackling sounds continued as countless ice blades struck the shield, creating a powerful impact, but they were unable to break through the shield.
"Looks like it's nothing special," Mursab sneered. "This kind of attack power is useless against us."
“That makes sense.” Aaron raised an eyebrow, and the ice-blue magic circle instantly shone brightly, summoning an ice block with a diameter of tens of meters.
