If an unexpected event occurs at this time, it means that the Academy Cup may be subject to change.
Because the points awarded by Headmaster Dumbledore personally are definitely not a small amount. If enough points are added to a house, such as Ravenclaw which is ranked second, it might even surpass Slytherin.
But Professor McGonagall, who knew the truth, didn't seem to have any expectations. This only made Gryffindor's loss less humiliating, but it still couldn't challenge Slytherin's championship.
“Miss Hermione Granger,” Dumbledore said with a smile, looking at the young wizard at the Gryffindor table, “she calmly and cleverly used her intelligence when others were in danger. 50 points.”
Hermione pursed her lips, but couldn't help but smile, while her Gryffindor classmates at the same table erupted in cheers.
Fifty points! With these fifty points, they'll be in third place, escaping last place.
"The second award goes to Mr. Ron Weasley, who has displayed the most outstanding chess skills in Hogwarts' history, and is awarded fifty points."
Cheers erupted again. Ron was still dazed by the sudden reward, while his older brothers proudly boasted to the others that Ron was their youngest brother.
"The third award is given to Harry Potter for his courage and extraordinary bravery. For this, I award Gryffindor sixty points."
As soon as he finished speaking, the entire Great Hall erupted in cheers. Except for Slytherin, the other three houses began to shout for Gryffindor. They were now only ten points away from dethroning Slytherin as champions, and almost everyone looked expectantly at their headmaster, hoping to give Gryffindor some more points.
Chapter 96 Slytherin's Seventh Championship
“What’s there to be proud of?” Draco said resentfully. “If it weren’t for Aaron’s timely intervention, Weasley might not even be alive!”
“That’s not how it works,” Aaron said dismissively. “I just gave Ron a push at the right time, but if it weren’t for him, we really wouldn’t have made it through that giant chessboard.”
Draco snorted, somewhat displeased with this kind of 'humility'.
“Gryffindor has 483 points and is in second place, but so what?”
The three of them have already added up the points; they can't keep adding points in different ways! Nobody will be satisfied.
"Well...who knows?" Aaron smiled helplessly. Based on his interactions with Dumbledore, the White Lord's limits were clearly not that high.
The problem is, this old geezer always manages to maintain his persona.
That's real skill—being able to repeatedly circumvent the rules without anyone finding fault with you.
“The fourth point,” Dumbledore began again, and the entire Great Hall fell silent. “Courage comes in many kinds. It takes courage to stand firm against an enemy and fight back, but it takes even more courage to stand firm against a friend.”
I award ten points to Neville Longbottom.
Loud cheers echoed throughout the Great Hall. Everyone in Gryffindor was overjoyed, except for Neville Longbottom, who remained dazed and unable to recover from the surprise for a long time.
He wasn't very smart, always indecisive, and his grades weren't great either; he was the kind of person who would stand out in a crowd.
Throughout the entire academic year, he hadn't added a single point to his college's score, but unexpectedly, he made a grand entrance at the year-end banquet.
“Now there’s a small problem: Gryffindor and Slytherin have the same score, but there’s only one House Cup,” Dumbledore said loudly, silencing the noise in the Great Hall. He then looked at the Slytherin table and gave Aaron a meaningful smile.
The Gryffindor students seemed to realize something as well, their smiles fading slightly. While their expressions weren't as unpleasant as they had been at the beginning, they weren't exactly happy either.
Harry, Harry, and his two friends exchanged wry smiles, having almost forgotten about it, but still turned around to congratulate him.
Although Aaron was a Slytherin, he was not as unruly as the other Slytherins, and he provided them with a great deal of help; otherwise, that night would have truly been a near-death experience.
They had just managed to turn the tide and had a chance to win the House Cup, but before they could even touch it, Slytherin had already snatched it away. They felt a little bitter.
“I believe you all guessed what I was going to say,” Dumbledore said. “That’s right, the last one, Aaron Gaius.”
He demonstrated remarkable wisdom and shrewdness, offering a helping hand to his friend in times of crisis and using his intelligence and composure to find the right path through the fog.
Of course, he was also quite good at planning ahead, making extremely thorough preparations before taking the risk.
I plan to reward him, to give this excellent Slytherin a hundred points.
In conclusion, if our calculations are correct, Slytherin has won the House Cup.
After suppressing their emotions for four rounds, Slytherins finally couldn't hold back and cheered loudly, easily overwhelming the other three houses with the sheer force of one house.
Six consecutive championships became seven, which is even more exciting than winning the championship six times in a row.
Draco stood up and gave Aaron a hug, demonstrating their friendship to everyone. The Slytherin prefect also smiled and gave him an encouraging look.
Several female seniors even winked at him, which made Aaron's expression a little unnatural, because these female seniors were really not very good-looking, and only one of them was decent-looking.
......
In the third week of June, Hogwarts officially began its holiday.
Aaron packed his luggage and put it into his suitcase.
Abe also changed into a new outfit and carried a small backpack, looking as if he were about to embark on a long trip.
Draco walked into Aaron's dormitory with the school notice in his hand. "The school is warning students not to use magic during the holidays. Honestly, don't they know we're wizards?"
"Stop complaining. This rule was set by the Ministry of Magic, and it has little to do with the school."
"Aaron, you must come to my house for a visit during your vacation. We will welcome you very much."
Aaron hesitated for a moment and did not give him a definite answer.
"Is there a problem?"
“I’m just not sure if I have the time.”
"Don't be ridiculous. We're only twelve years old, and we don't have to work at the Ministry of Magic, so how could we not have time?" Draco said speechlessly, then suddenly thought of something, "Could it be that the heirs of your families have to take over part of the business at the age of twelve?"
"How could that be?" Aaron rolled his eyes. "Even if someone is precocious, they wouldn't be exposed to these things at the age of twelve."
Besides, my parents are only in their early thirties; they're not old enough to be unable to work yet, so they won't put these burdens on me.
"Then how come you don't have time?"
Aaron pursed his lips, looking at Draco's sincere expression, and felt embarrassed to say it was because of intuition, so he simply said, "I will go if I have time."
"That's pretty much it."
As Aaron arrived outside the station, he saw Hagrid seeing Harry off on the train and looking in their direction.
Aaron immediately lowered his head, stuffed Abe behind the suitcase, and kept muttering to himself, "You can't see me."
But when he reached the car door, he was still enveloped by a large dark shadow.
He looked up and saw a familiar, big face smiling at him.
Aaron sighed helplessly. He still couldn't avoid it! He should have used that bottle of Felix Felicis more sparingly.
"It's a bit unreasonable not to greet acquaintances at all when you see them." Hagrid said in a lecturing tone, while his eyes darted around as if searching for something.
"Stop looking, it's here." Aaron picked Abe up, and Hagrid's eyes immediately lit up as he wanted to get closer to take a look, but he restrained himself in time.
"Envy?"
Hagrid nodded repeatedly, his beard trembling.
If there hadn't been so many people at the station, he probably would have been able to shout.
Aaron openly and legitimately kept a magical creature, a special dragon at that. How could he not be envious?
Hagrid did indeed keep many magical creatures, but none of them could stay with him for very long; once they grew too big, they couldn't be kept in the dark.
Most of them hid in the Forbidden Forest, while a small number went elsewhere, either being sent to live in groups in nature or being taken in by professionals, such as Momo, who was guarding the trapdoor for Dumbledore.
Over the years, the only dog that has stayed by his side is Yaya, a Neapolitan Mastiff.
"The little guy is still so cute!"
Will I be able to see him next semester?
"If nothing unexpected happens, it should be possible," Aaron said calmly. "But I don't think it would want to see you."
As soon as he finished speaking, Abe turned his face away, giving Hagrid no friendly look whatsoever.
"Don't be so heartless!"
"I apologize again for what I did back then," Hagrid said, looking aggrieved, then took a wrapped roast chicken from his pocket. "This is a token of my sincerity; I got it from the kitchen, and it's still warm."
Abe opened one eye, glanced at it lightly, then looked at Aaron, barely managing to suppress his drooling.
"Hmph! Don't embarrass yourself by using such petty tricks."
"That's the trick you used to drug Abe," Aaron said dismissively.
“This will never happen again,” Hagrid chuckled sheepishly. “Besides, we didn’t even realize it was a dragon!”
Aaron pursed his lips, but still put the roast chicken away and stuffed it into Abe's backpack.
This train journey will take a very long time, and there's no such thing on the train. He won't be picky if he can eat better.
"We appreciate your sincerity. See you next semester."
Aaron was about to board the train when Hagrid stopped him.
"Wait, can I touch it?" Hagrid said somewhat shyly.
Aaron suddenly felt that the roast chicken in his hand didn't taste so good anymore; he felt indebted to those who had given him gifts.
But once the items were in his hands, returning them was impossible.
"I'm sorry, I can't grant that request yet."
Aaron refused outright. Hagrid wanted to try again, but Abbe quickly slipped into the car, preventing him from succeeding.
"Wow...that's fast!"
Aaron shrugged, handed the suitcase to a train conductor, and boarded the train.
He passed several carriages, but they were all packed full, with not a single empty seat.
When he opened the door to the next carriage, his lips twitched involuntarily. They were all familiar faces, but only three Gryffindors.
"What a coincidence! You should have some empty seats here, right?"
“Yes, of course,” Harry said immediately, and Hermione happily made way for him.
Chapter 97 Going Home
The train moved slowly, and the scenery outside the window changed rapidly.
Aaron placed Abe on the table. Abe eagerly took out the roast chicken from the bag, tore off a chicken leg for himself, and began to eat it.
"It still eats so much." Ron swallowed hard, resisting the urge to snatch the food from the beast's mouth.
He could never forget the scene after Abe transformed; with his small frame, one swipe of his claw would probably knock him unconscious.
