What is indispensable for flying to the past is immense energy—magic.

For example, the total magical power accumulated to this day by a certain intelligent species that has prospered for 2500 years.

If all of human history from 1000 BC to 2016 AD were converted into magic, the resulting magic power would be enough to leap to the beginning of the stars.

The only effect of exterminating humanity is burning it.

As far as Goetia is concerned, humanity from its birth until 2016 was merely the first cosmic rocket for it to reach the origin of the sky.

—Goetia, the incineration of human reason.

It is a magic woven to attain true wisdom, a magic with a will that seeks to utilize all of human history to reach the origin.

This is a lament and anger over King Solomon's relationship with humanity, and a curse that attempts to overcome the "imperfection of humanity" that King Solomon has always ignored.

"However, the Goetia I remember doesn't seem to be that powerful."

Shirou murmured to himself as he recalled the events.

Unable to come up with a solution, he stretched and turned back.

"Forget it, there's no point in guessing. We'll find out when the time comes."

Chapter Sixteen: Pity is Evil

The next morning, Siduri arrived at the room.

"You're all up very early, so let's get your first job right away."

The first job was bricklaying; the group worked with a group of workers all morning before finally stopping.

“My next job is shearing sheep,” Siduri said to the group who were resting.

Then came the work of harvesting wheat, picking fruit, and tamping... This non-stop work continued for dozens of days.

Then came a day off.

"No work today, enjoy your time exploring Uruk." Merlin said, then looked at Shirou. "By the way, Orihara, with such a great opportunity, aren't you going to invite them out on a date?"

Merlin's words made Gudako and Mashu blush a little.

"Huh... what are you saying all of a sudden!"

"That kind of thing... is no good!"

Just then, Anna walked over.

"Since you two are free today, how about you do me a favor?" Anna said, taking out some silver coins from her pocket. "These are some silver coins I've saved up over the years. Would you mind accompanying me for a trip as payment?"

Finally, someone came to their rescue. Gudako and Mashu quickly looked at Anna and said in unison.

"of course can!"

“But there’s no need for payment. We’re actually looking for worthwhile jobs,” Mashu said with a gentle smile.

After she said that, Anna didn't waste any more time.

"Then, please follow me. I will take you to our destination. There will be a battle, so please bear with me."

Gudako and Mashu paused for a moment when they heard Anna use that word.

"Eh... a battle?"

…………

In the dark, deep tunnels beneath Uruk, Mash and Anna are battling the undead.

"Drink!!" Mash swung her shield and smashed the undead in front of her to pieces.

Shirou followed behind them, occasionally shooting out a sword to defeat the undead that were about to approach the girls.

It took about half an hour to finally clear out the undead.

“Thank you very much,” Anna said.

Gudako looked around and then sighed.

"I never expected that there would be such a large cavity beneath Uruk."

"Those undead just now were also astonishing. Does Miss Anna know what those undead are?" Mash withdrew her Noble Phantasm and turned her gaze to Anna.

Anna stood up and walked towards the top of the stairs.

"That's something like the Grim Reaper; a deadly disease is spreading through Uruk."

"Illness?" Gudako murmured.

“Yes, people who are physically weak will fall into an eternal sleep. Those spirits should be related to this,” Anna explained.

"So, if we eliminate those undead, we can reduce the number of people who die from weakness, right?" Gudako asked somewhat uncertainly.

"Yes, in the Age of Gods, physical death and spiritual death are different."

"Does that mean that even if the body is intact, if the soul is taken away by the Grim Reaper, one will die?" Mash asked, trying to understand.

"Yes, but there's one more thing, the soul was..."

The state taken away is not 'death,' but 'sleep.'

Anna continued, "As long as the body is intact, then as long as the soul is retrieved, one can awaken from sleep."

"Then Anna, how did you discover these undead?" Gudako asked.

“This…” Anna pointed in a direction as they arrived in the bustling city, “over there, because above that flower shop, there are a lot of…”

Upon hearing the girl's words, Mashu smiled and remarked with emotion.

"Anna is very gentle."

“I didn’t… I just…” Anna muttered, head down.

But when Anna realized that all three of them were looking at her, her cheeks flushed red, and she quickly turned her head away, pulling her hood down a little further.

……

After spending nearly a month in Uruk, the three of them were quite familiar with the city.

"Finally finished...!" Gudako exclaimed, stretching her slender waist as she walked back.

“Yes, this task is now complete. What kind of work will Miss Siduri assign us next…?” Mashu asked with some anticipation.

"You guys aren't addicted to working, are you?" Shirou said speechlessly.

Just then, Gudako, who was walking at the front, suddenly exclaimed "Eh!"

Following her gaze, in the dimly lit alley, an old man in a black robe sat quietly.

“Looks like she’s hungry,” Mash said.

Gudako immediately stepped forward.

"Well, maybe I'm being nosy, but please accept this." She took a flatbread from her cloth bag.

The old man glanced at her, and his deep voice rang out.

“Unwarranted pity is an evil, and so is unwarranted shame. But I still thank you for your kindness.” The old man reached out and took the pancake. “In that case, I’ll give you a return gift.”

"You don't need to be so polite," Gudako quickly said.

Listen carefully.

The old man spoke up on his own, saying, "Uruk will face three storms in the future."

"A third storm?" Gudako asked in confusion.

“Do not show understanding to those who harbor hatred. Do not show approval to those who are happy. Furthermore, do not show praise to those who are suffering.” The old man continued, “Remember, it is foolish to talk about humanity with God.”

After saying this, a gust of wind arose, and amidst the sand and dust, Gudako and Mashu had no choice but to close their eyes. When they opened them again, the old man in front of them had disappeared.

"What...what did those words mean?" Gudako looked at Shirou in confusion.

Without realizing it, they had developed the habit of asking Shirou about anything they didn't know, and asking him about anything they couldn't solve.

They really treat him like Doraemon.

“The literal meaning.” Shirou shrugged. “His last sentence was indeed correct.”

"What?" Gudako was stunned for a moment and asked in confusion.

Shirou calmly answered her question.

"It is pointless to talk about human nature with God."

……

The following day, Gilgamesh summoned him.

A month later, the group once again arrived at the top of the Divine Tower.

"Are you looking for us, King Gilgamesh?" Gudako asked.

“I have something to discuss with you, of course. I suppose you’re all tired of those tedious tasks by now,” Gilgamesh said, holding the Holy Grail in his hand and squinting slightly.

“Then…!” Gudako’s eyes lit up.

“Yes, that’s right. Next is your first official mission: head to Ur City immediately to investigate what’s happening there.” King Xian smiled at the three of them.

"If your performance this time satisfies me..."

The rest is self-evident.

"Go!" the wise king shouted.

"Yes!" Gudako and Mashu replied immediately.

Chapter Seventeen: The Tropical Rainforest of Ur

The group followed Merlin up the steps leading to the bottom of the tower.

"King Gilgamesh seems to be in a good mood today. He even showed us the Holy Grail. However, I feel like that Holy Grail is a bit..." Gudako paused.

"It seems you've noticed it too. That one is different from the Holy Grail you retrieved from the first six singularities. We'll have to wait for Dr. Roman's analysis to find out for sure. But it should be correct," Merlin said.

"So there's another Holy Grail that formed this singularity?" Gudako asked, somewhat surprised.

"Hmm, I just don't know if the Holy Grail is in the hands of the 'Three Goddess Alliance' or someone else."

Merlin said, "It's definitely not the one that King Gilgamesh had."
