Chapter Two: Red
Jill's behavior made Zun realize something was amiss.
"You can foresee things, can't you?"
"So what if it happens, and so what if it doesn't?" Jill turned around, her red eyes flashing. "Who knows what the future holds? A choice can make all the difference, can't it?"
"...Then I'll ask you one more time, are you willing to join us? If you want to join us, then hold my hand!" Zun extended his hand to Gil again.
Jill fell silent.
The pride that belonged to Gilgamesh in his heart wouldn't allow him to submit.
But—I'm not Gilgamesh!
But I, on the contrary, choose to do the opposite!
“So what can I do? What can you give me? Now that my parents are dead, I have almost nothing left, so why are you so fixated on me?” Jill asked.
"No, I just wanted to, so I did it... We at HOMRA have no reason to refuse anyone who wants to join. So, are you willing?" Zun slowly replied.
"A king who does as he pleases? One last question." Jill wanted to know the answer. "What is the purpose of your power?"
"what?"
“Hey, it’s impossible to be completely without confusion,” Jill said with a smile. “Then I accept it.”
Gilles reached out and placed his hand on Suoh Mikoto's. "I'm willing to become a member of HOMRA."
Next, a burning sensation spread to Jill's right eye. Then, Jill's right eye began to glow. If you looked closely, you could see a deep red, flame-like pattern in Jill's right eye.
That's the symbol of HOMRA.
"Alright, so you're now a member of HOMRA," Takeru said. "Let's go back to the base first, and then I'll introduce everyone to you."
"it is good."
However, at this moment, Jill keenly sensed that something was amiss.
“Hey, Template, didn’t I only redeem Gate of Babylon?” Jill and Template were talking.
"Yes, but because this body itself is incredibly powerful, and the Omniscient Star is a passive ability, the template cannot be completely sealed. It's like you currently possess a weaker version of the Omniscient Star plus a Gate of Babylon. You can later use World Coins to unlock other abilities and upgrade this skill. Of course, some other passive skills cannot be blocked, such as the Golden Rule and Divinity."
The template responded.
"I see. So you won't deduct extra World Coins from my account, will you?"
"Please don't slander the template. Although the template is terrible for the host, it would never be so shameless!"
"...Damn it, I already said it! This identity was a trap for me!"
"Because the template is very responsible; even if it misleads the host, it won't shirk its responsibilities!"
"You've even started to complain now!"
"Because templates have learning capabilities!"
"Speaking of which, after I chose the All-Knowing and All-Powerful Star, how many World Coins would I need to choose the Gate of Babylon?"
"This is immeasurable, because the host initially chose Gate of Babylon, so Gate of Babylon comes with many of the original treasures from Gate of Babylon, and even some treasures that were not originally in Gate of Babylon. If you want to buy Gate of Babylon later, you have to buy the main body first, and then buy the treasures to put into the main body, which will cost countless more world coins."
"So heartless..."
"So although you didn't choose the best one at the beginning, you chose the most expensive one. Gate of Babylon is the most cost-effective. Although the Omniscient Star is more powerful than Gate of Babylon, in the current world, Gate of Babylon is still more powerful."
"I see."
"...So Jill ended her conversation with the template and turned to Zun, "Zun, someone's here."
"Hmm...? It seems your ability activates randomly, Gil?" Tatara looked at Gil in surprise.
"They were a group carrying knives..."
"Tch, it's those blue-haired guys." Misaki Hatta, who looked like a delinquent, clicked her tongue, looking annoyed.
“It’s them.” Zun nodded. “Let’s go.”
So the group of people walked out with a grand and imposing air.
“Hey, Mr. Tatara,” Gilles tugged at Tatara’s sleeve, “what happened to those men with knives?”
"Hmm...you could call us old friends?" Tatara replied.
“Huh? Why is my old friend… acting like he’s about to fight?” Jill asked.
This is a rhetorical question that the answer already knows the answer to.
After all, they're considered city management officers, while our HOMRA seems like just some petty thugs... or something like that.
Bah, bah, bah! What petty thugs? We are clearly a criminal gang!
(Author's rant: It feels even worse)
It wouldn't really be accurate to say that. After all, in his mind, the Red Clan was just a clan that possessed [violence] and [passion], so it was normal for them to be inclined to violence.
The other side, or rather the Blue Clan Scepter-4, controls order, so ultimately it's just a difference in ideology.
While lost in thought, Gil followed the members of HOMRA forward.
“Scepter4…” Jill said thoughtfully after seeing the other’s expression.
"You know, little Gil?" Tatara looked at Gil with some surprise.
"Hmm, you know a little about them, right? They're the Blue Clan, aren't they?"
Gil looked at Tatara and asked.
"Yes, you know they are the maintainers of order... but your parents, unfortunately."
“It doesn’t matter… When a person dies, the light goes out. Excessive sadness is just a way to bind yourself.” Jill looked down. “I am just me.”
"..." Tatara looked at Gilles, reached out and pressed his head down, "Gilles, look, this is our king."
"Burn them." The Venerable One, still half asleep, spoke to the allied ministers behind him.
In this world, organizations established with the king at their center, and the members of these organizations, are called vassals.
"Alright! Let's go, everyone!" Misaki laughed loudly, raising her arm and leading the chant—
"No-Blood, No-Bone, No-Ash!"
The allied ministers shouted slogans loudly.
Jill was somewhat moved.
I used to get excited watching this scene on the screen, let alone now?
"This feels pretty good," Jill thought with a smile.
Chapter Three: HOMRA
Mikoto faced the leader of Scepter-4, a young man with glasses and a long sword, and said, "Yo, Munakata, since we're a new member joining us today, can you give us some face?"
"Heh, so the Red Clan has a new member too?" The young man called Munakata looked at Mikoto, "How can you still..."
"..." At this moment, a blonde woman turned her gaze to Jill, who frowned and glared back, her red eyes filled with displeasure.
The scrutinizing look in the other person's eyes made Jill instinctively feel uncomfortable, and her mind was gradually taken over by tyranny.
The golden ripples suddenly began to move.
"Who gave you permission to look me in the eye, you bastard!" Gil suddenly waved his hand, and a golden longsword flew out, heading straight for the other man.
"Gil!" Tatara looked at Gil in surprise, trying to stop him, but the sword had already flown out.
"Watch out!" Gil suddenly snapped to attention when Tatara slapped him, and raised his hand again. In mid-air, another golden ripple appeared, and a long sword deflected the sword that was flying towards the woman.
The sword, which had been knocked away, spun twice in the air before landing on the ground, embedding itself deeply in the tiles.
"Huff... huff..." Jill knelt on the ground, feeling a wave of fear wash over her.
What would have happened if Tatara hadn't reminded him?
This tyrannical consciousness is practically... the very consciousness of Gilgamesh himself.
Cold sweat broke out on Jill's back; she really didn't want to get into any trouble.
"Suoh, it seems your new member isn't quite able to control his power yet." Munakata looked at Gil, his expression somewhat unfriendly.
If the other party hadn't stopped him in the end, he probably would have turned on them immediately.
"Then what do you want to do?" Zun narrowed his eyes unhappily.
HOMRA is quite protective of its allies, or rather, quite protective of their own, which is evident in the character of the Lord.
She's definitely protective of her own, but Jill isn't going to shirk responsibility.
"I'm so sorry, I lost control of my power for a moment just now..." Jill apologized sincerely.
"Hmph, no one was injured after all, but you have to come with us... You violated the regulations." Munakata said, looking at Gil.
"I didn't mean to..." Jill was about to say something when someone grabbed her shoulder.
Tatara looked at Gil, "Gil, remember, you are a member of HOMRA."
Just as Gil was about to say something, Mikoto stepped in front of Munakata.
“It’s none of your business to comment on our HOMRA members. I’ll keep him in line, but this isn’t something you can interfere with.”
Mikoto's words made Munakata's expression turn somewhat unpleasant.
“Your Excellency…” Gil was about to say something when His Excellency interrupted him.
"That's enough, just watch. I'll teach you a lesson when we get back." Mikoto didn't turn around, but looked at Munakata seriously. "I wouldn't mind fighting you here."
"..."
"..."
The atmosphere suddenly became very heavy.
But in the end, Munakata just snorted and turned away.
"Fall back!" the woman who had initially observed Jill shouted, and the members of Scepter-4 followed Munakata away.
