The arrow shot out, leaving a trail of flames as it struck Superman's body.
With the enhancement of the goddess of the hunt, and infused with all his power, this arrow was enough to pierce through anything!
But to Apollo's utter surprise, the seemingly indestructible arrow snapped with a crack against the steel-like body. The fiery energy wrapped around the arrow, now without its anchor, swirled and seeped into the opponent's body.
Apollo's mouth dropped open, revealing an expression of utter disbelief.
Not
How can this be?
That arrow was no creation of mortals. Although it could not be considered a top-tier divine weapon, it was still made by the god of fire.
It broke?
How hard must this person be?
But that wasn't the end of it.
The arrow broke, flames entered, and then the red glow covering Superman's body intensified.
The domineering energy, shaped like an arrow, shot back from where it had entered!
Then Apollo was hit in the knee by an arrow.
For the rookie Superman, this was the first time since his debut that he had encountered an energy overflow state, with his strength and defense increasing dramatically. However, he clearly hadn't adapted to this temporary change, so Apollo's sneak attack felt to him like a mosquito bite on his back—something he felt, yet also something he didn't.
He instantly killed the giant beast in front of him, turned his head and saw Apollo kneeling on the ground with his arms wrapped around his knees.
"What's this?" Superman quickly moved away from where Apollo was kneeling and looked at him strangely.
Why did the sun god perform such a grand ceremony?
Apollo forced a smile despite the pain: "I'm just a little tired, I'm stopping to rest for a bit."
Noticing Superman's suspicious look, he explained, "Oh, this is a custom of us Olympians. Sometimes when we're tired, we like to rest on our knees, which is probably different from you mortals."
Superman blinked. That was quite strange.
“Okay.” Superman held out his hand. “Then I can carry you on my back.”
"Don't come here!"
Seeing that he was about to approach, Apollo instinctively shouted and shrank back.
Even Superman was startled and withdrew his hand, wondering what was going on.
Realizing his lapse in composure, Apollo coughed and said, "Oh, I meant... you should go first. I suddenly feel like staying here so as not to delay your business."
He had just thought about it and suddenly realized that he had no grudge against this big blue guy, so it wasn't worth risking his life for him.
Alright, today's target is the Eye of Argonautica, so let's let him off the hook for now.
The thoughts of "this kid must not be allowed to live" had completely vanished. Now, Apollo's mind was filled with nothing but the sheer terror of this child, and the thought of getting as far away from him as possible.
“I can’t leave you here,” Superman said earnestly.
"So you're not leaving, right?"
Apollo snorted heavily, stood up, stamped his foot, and flicked his sleeve.
"Okay, then I'll go."
After saying that, it couldn't wait any longer and shot into the sky with a loud bang, leaving a burning trail of flame before disappearing into the void.
Superman watched his retreating figure, somewhat puzzled.
"Diana's brother has a really bad temper. What did I do to offend him?"
Two updates today, more tomorrow.
Chapter 168 Medusa
“The magic signal is strong; we are about to reach our target,” Pal’s voice rang in my ears.
“Very good. Mark it on the map, and also show the areas we’ve already visited.”
Shen You followed the magical features resembling those of the Olympian pantheon, believing that the so-called Eye of Argonautica was quite likely just ahead.
"Friendly detection detected, signs of combat."
Parr pointed this out, while also marking the coordinates on one side of the map.
"Based on the combat reaction, it is speculated that it may be Wonder Woman."
"Did Diana get into battle?"
Shen You thought for a moment, glanced at the map, and it seemed to be on the way.
“Change the navigation route, Pal. Let’s check it out on the way.”
"Okay, sir."
The mobile armor accelerated forward, leaving a trail of lightning in its wake, speeding through a series of islands toward the marked location.
boom!
A tremendous impact, an unparalleled force, slammed into a floating island. The land cracked, mountains collapsed, lava spewed out, and a raging wind whipped up by divine power carried destructive might, sweeping away everything in its path.
Wonder Woman was sent flying backwards through the storm, performing a series of somersaults in mid-air, stepping on floating debris and broken wood to regain her balance, and then using her flight ability to hover in mid-air.
Before her, a giant shadow nearly ten meters tall slowly broke through the smoke and emerged.
A long, venomous snake coiled around its head, its red eyes gleaming with menacing power. Its green skin, covered in scales, resembled that of some kind of upright serpentine creature.
"Medusa."
Diana spoke in a low voice, glancing to the side out of the corner of her eye.
Another Gorgon, with her arms crossed, flew to the side, smiling sinisterly.
“Eureya is here too. So, I guess the last of the Gorgon sisters, Sissina, is here as well?”
Diana looked around but didn't see the remaining person.
"You got separated? That's unfortunate."
“You can only be stubborn for now, Princess. There are no Amazons or gods this time, only you,” Euryale sneered. “You can’t escape from us.”
“Actually, to correct you,” Medusa scoffed, “I am enough on my own. I have a feud with this princess to settle.”
"If you're referring to the time I cut off your snake head, I'm sorry."
Diana drew her sword without any expression.
"But you brought that on yourself."
Enraged, Medusa roared and lunged forward. With a flick of her right hand, she drew her sword and unleashed a swift, transparent slash towards Diana.
Diana had fought her before and knew the power of the Gorgon's petrification ability; even the twelve Olympian gods were wary of this move. But unlike Superman, who was either encountering it for the first time or being ambushed, Wonder Woman already had some experience in dealing with this move.
As long as you are careful not to look up, and avoid looking into the other person's eyes and that eerie snake head, you will not be petrified.
But this also means that she must rely solely on her limbs to judge her opponent's moves and actions, without being able to look up and make eye contact with her opponent for even a moment. This immediately doubles the difficulty of the battle.
Diana blocked Medusa's slash with her sword, using a hanging defense. The two swords clashed, sparks flew, and the impact of the divine power shattered the giant rock of the floating island beneath them.
Medusa roared, swinging her sword down with even greater force. Diana flicked her sword tip, raising it upwards, the blades clashing to deflect the downward strike. Transparent ripples spread again, successfully deflecting the attack, but the heroine felt a slight numbness in her arm. The Gorgon was not only enormous in size, but also possessed considerable divine strength.
Diana, who had fought Medusa before, knew that Medusa was a formidable foe. She had struggled to win even in a one-on-one fight, and now the Gorgon had a sister watching from the sidelines. If the two attacked together, her chances of survival were slim.
But Amazons are naturally warlike and never fear battle. The stronger the opponent, the more it fuels her fighting spirit. She doesn't think about the consequences; she emptys her mind and focuses all her attention on the present, unleashing all her divine power and skills to the fullest.
The two swords clashed rapidly, each strike accompanied by superhuman reflexes. In the blink of an eye, they had exchanged several blows. Medusa had the advantage in strength, but her swordsmanship was clearly lacking, and in a short time, she found herself on the defensive rather than on the offensive.
She dodged Diana's horizontal slash, then shouted and seized the opportunity when Diana hadn't exerted enough force to counterattack with a slam of her sword.
Diana knew that Medusa's sword strike was powerful and heavy, and she was trying to use her strength advantage to break the deadlock. Therefore, she did not meet Medusa head-on, but instead used her sword along the outer edge to deflect the attack. This sword strike was not a forceful parry, but rather a deflection by borrowing the force. Medusa's all-out sword strike immediately missed its target. The transparent sword energy wrapped in divine power exploded, as if splitting the heavens and the earth, and the sword cleaved the entire island beneath them in two.
With a perfectly executed strike, Diana dodged Medusa's attack while simultaneously advancing, closing in on the inside, and leaping forward to aim her sword straight for Medusa's head.
Medusa's pupils contracted, and she tried her best to step aside, but the sword tip still managed to leave a deep bloody gash on her face.
But in her rage, she hissed and, taking advantage of Diana's approach, activated the venomous snake on her head. A small snake twisted its body and shot forward, biting Diana's arm.
Diana had already launched a surprise attack, and she deliberately avoided looking at her opponent's head. By the time she realized she was being attacked, it was too late. The snake bared its sharp fangs and bit her snow-white arm.
Diana gave a soft groan, clutched her arm, and pulled back. Two small holes had appeared on her arm, from which blood was gushing out.
"It's over," Medusa sneered. "My venom has entered your blood. Now, submit to my will and look into my eyes!"
A wave of intense dizziness washed over Diana, making the sword in her hand feel a hundred times heavier. Her strength drained away like water, and an almost irresistible, seductive voice echoed in her hazy mind.
She felt her body slowly slipping out of her control, her eyelids involuntarily opening, and she slowly looked up in Medusa's direction.
She knew that once she made eye contact with Medusa, it would all be over.
That's only a matter of time.
There is only one choice.
Diana gritted her teeth, raised her longsword, turned it upside down, and pointed the tip at her eyes.
Even Medusa couldn't help but show admiration when she saw her intentions.
She wanted to blind herself.
Just as the princess's sword fell, its tip almost touching her eyeball.
Lightning seemed to pierce through space, flashing forth from the depths of the void with ripples of time and space. A silver, steel hand emerged from the lightning, firmly gripping the heroine's wrist and stopping her actions.
"It doesn't have to be this way."
A reassuring voice rang in her ears.
"I am coming."
Chapter 169 The Moving Sun
"An outsider?"
Medusa was secretly startled when she saw Shen You suddenly appear out of nowhere. Even with her lightning-fast reflexes, she couldn't tell where he had come from.
That's why she held back for the time being and observed carefully.
