"What?" The riddle-maker was indeed intrigued.
“Batman,” the Poison Scorpion Spirit coaxed, “Aren’t you curious about who’s behind that mask? The one who appears and disappears unpredictably, always one step ahead of you.”
The person who has solved all your riddles and can always see through the clues you leave behind.
That man, who is like a mystery to himself, aren't you curious?"
The demon's voice echoed ethereally in the darkness, growing increasingly deceptive.
For a fleeting moment, the riddle teller seemed genuinely moved.
His eyes gleamed with that thirst for knowledge unique to this mad genius.
“That’s right,” the demon pressed, “Embrace the darkness within you, and we will grant you power.”
"Thanks, but no thanks." The riddle-maker shook his head. "But my wish is still to destroy that Ultraman."
Demon Spirit: "."
No, you did this on purpose, didn't you?
"I'll solve Batman's problems myself. There's no point in solving a mystery if you don't do it yourself," the Riddler said.
The demon spirit, unable to bear it any longer, surged with black energy and raised its claws behind the riddle-maker, almost ready to tear the idiot apart to vent its anger.
Then the Riddler changed the subject: "However, after thinking about it, accepting your help isn't out of the question. I am indeed planning a showdown with Batman, a mystery of the century."
But you're right, he always solved my riddles before, so I might need some backup plans.”
Just before he turned his head, the demon withdrew its claws, which it had almost lost control of, and pretended to be nonchalant.
"I'm glad we reached an agreement," it said with a chuckle. "Don't worry. With us here, that bat is already a dead bat."
Back at the base, the Poison Scorpion Demon Spirit breathed a sigh of relief.
"That human is mentally unstable," it mumbled incoherently. "Do we really need to cooperate with such a madman?"
“This is necessary, Kreiss.”
A shadow emerged from the darkness; it was the Owl Demon.
“Edward Nigma may be a madman, but he’s a madman with ideas, at least among humans. He can help us lure out that ‘Batman.’ After all, capturing that ‘Batman’ alive is the real goal.”
"I don't understand this either. Isn't he just a cross-dressing psychopath?" the Poison Scorpion Demon wondered. "What do we need him for?"
"He possesses something that ordinary people lack. This makes him the perfect nourishment and sacrifice."
It was personally designated by 'that person'.
As he spoke, the owl spirit gave him a cold look.
"Do you dare question that lord's opinion?"
"No, I wouldn't dare," the Poison Scorpion Demon Spirit said, bowing its head.
The owl demon sneered, "It will be soon. The day of our descent will arrive. When that great one reigns, anyone who dares to block our path will face certain death!"
Chapter 52 says just that.
The dim streetlights cast a faint, hazy glow, illuminating the deserted streets. A piercing meow shattered the silence of the night, and the streets grew increasingly deserted, even in the relatively bustling commercial district.
Red and silver armor swept silently across Gotham in the night.
"All systems of the new armor are functioning normally, and energy efficiency has been significantly improved," Pal said in his ear.
"Very good. What about the scanning and positioning of our bracelet?"
"It's marked on your monitor, sir."
A map of Gotham popped up in Shen You's field of vision, clearly locating a certain coordinate among the city blocks.
"Is there a match in energy frequency?" Shen You asked.
"Yes, sir."
As Pal spoke, the monitor displayed a wavelength recorded by the armor and compared it with the currently monitored energy wavelength. After overlapping, they found that they matched perfectly.
"Based on previous battle records, this should be some kind of magical frequency energy. It has similarities to the magic of the demons I have fought several times in the past."
"Wow, I was wondering who it was. It's those little cuties."
Shen You had a pretty good impression of these monsters; so far, both lone ones and groups of them had given him a lot of experience points. Seeing these monsters felt as familiar as slaying dozens or even hundreds of slimes during the early stages of certain games.
Following the direction of the location, Shen You flew into the sewers, slowed down his armor to maintain levitation, and explored deeper into Gotham's intricate sewer system.
“The spatial fluctuations are intensifying.” Pal marked the new readings on the monitor. “It seems to be some kind of spatial magic that manipulates phases, creating a temporary magical space within the existing reality. It cannot be seen visually because it is in a different phase from reality.”
Shen You understood: "Just like the senior's 'Meta Domain'."
The Ultra race is not without similar methods, and Shen You is no stranger to them.
“The principle is somewhat similar,” Parr said. “The scan data shows that this space was probably not formed on the first day; it may have been here for a while.”
"Then why didn't we notice it before?"
“Previously, the energy of the Time-Space Bracelet was too low, and the scanning range and accuracy were insufficient to detect this anomaly.”
Shen You suddenly realized. It was because he had leveled up these past few days, which had also upgraded his equipment and enhanced its functions that he was able to discover this trick.
Noah is the expert in space technology, while Shen You isn't. But that's alright, he has the bracelet.
The Land of Light boasts countless advanced technologies, and the development of various bracelets is undoubtedly a key focus. Take, for example, the famous "bracelet launcher" Ultraman Jack; even the main character joked that "without his bracelet, he's just a nobody." The funniest part is in one episode where his bracelet was hacked by aliens, and Ultraman couldn't even beat his own unmanned bracelet in a one-on-one fight—that's just so awkward!
From then on, the nickname "Bracelet Stand" was basically confirmed. Of course, Shen You only dared to think it in his heart; when he met a big shot from the Land of Light, he still had to respectfully call him "senior." Calling him "Bracelet Stand" was a joke; he knew that the big shot from the security force could easily take down an Ultraman like him with one punch.
The Time-Space Bracelet was activated, and a ripple quickly appeared in the seemingly empty space of the underground pipe.
The magical subspace became disordered. Shen You seized the opportunity, raised his hand, and with the help of the bracelet, the light energy was converted into spatial attributes, continuously pouring into that faint spatial rift.
At first, the space resisted. The crack was narrow, tight, and offered tremendous resistance.
But as the old saying goes...
The resistance lasts only a moment.
Move around more, and it will naturally become more spacious.
Sure enough, after being forcibly injected with the immense light, the crack finally deformed irresistibly and was stretched wider.
When he estimated that it was about enough, Shen You stopped attacking.
He straightened up.
Squeezed in.
The scorpion demon followed behind the owl demon. They passed through the dark hall and arrived at the deepest part of the magical space.
The darkness was suddenly illuminated, creating a sacred and solemn atmosphere. Statues and paintings hung on both sides of the narrow stone corridor, and the light and shadow effects cast down on them made it exceptionally solemn.
The light source came from the surrounding braziers, bathing the space in a golden glow. The solemn stone pillars and murals shimmered with a dark light in the firelight, adding to the mystery. Ancient symbols, now unrecognizable, were carved on the ancient altar—some sinister and intricate, their meanings enough to drive one to madness.
"Uh ah ah!"
The scorpion demon screamed, its entire body convulsing. The flickering, dim firelight cast its distorted shadow on the wall, the ever-changing image resembling some kind of twisted monster.
The Poisonous Scorpion Demon knelt on the ground, panting for a while, and looked at his hands in disbelief.
"Wow, what incredible power!" it exclaimed excitedly, looking up at the owl spirit beside it. "This power... could it be..."
"Yes."
The owl demon could not hide its excitement.
"The power of 'that great one' has already appeared in the mortal world," it said. "However, it cannot directly operate in the mortal world for the time being, and can only temporarily intervene in reality through our magical domain."
Or, as just now, grant us power far exceeding that of the past.
"I feel that there's no need for that lord to take action personally anymore. I'm so strong now that even I'm afraid of myself!" The Poison Scorpion Demon was still immersed in his newly acquired power. "I feel that it will be soon, and I will be able to avenge the Yusak brothers!"
If I were to face that Ultraman again right now, I could simply slide tackle him.
"Stop sliding, wake up."
The owl demon didn't hesitate to pour cold water on it.
"Think about that giant's posture, the way he threw a punch, and that world-destroying light. Then consider your own situation. What do you think?"
Upon hearing this, the scorpion demon calmed down. It carefully sensed its enhanced magic power and compared it with the image of the giant's attack in its mind.
“If I slide in, I’ll probably die,” it said calmly.
“That’s right.” The owl spirit nodded. “So our strategy remains unchanged. We’ll avoid direct confrontation for now, and we must find a way to bring ‘that person’ down with us, no matter what.”
That sir said that 'Batman' is an excellent sacrifice among humans. His presence should expedite the descent ritual."
"Ok."
The Poisonous Scorpion Demon nodded, then made a resentful expression and sighed to the sky.
"Brother Yusak, if you can still hear me, bring that despicable Ultraman to me! I will avenge you!"
boom!
The words had barely left his lips when a deafening roar erupted. The two turned their heads simultaneously to see that one side of the hall's wall had been blasted open from the outside by energy. A suit of red and silver armor emerged through the dust, the crystal on its chest refracting a path of azure light through the grime.
The two demons were stunned for a moment.
Half a second later, the Poison Scorpion Demon Spirit spoke weakly.
"Actually, I was just saying that."
Chapter 53 Pretending Not to See
The moment Shen You stepped inside, he knew he had won the lottery.
The warp magic seemed to be interfering with the armor's sensors to some extent, making it difficult to detect from the outside. But once inside, everything became clear.
Several heat sources were marked one after another, settling in various areas of this subspace. Shen You was already quite familiar with that kind of fluctuation frequency.
They are all demons.
Hence the present scene.
Flames flickered in the eerie hall, and afterimages flew everywhere. All sorts of bizarre demonic spirits surrounded the red and silver mech, like a chaotic dance of demons.
