The tall shadow's tone suddenly rose.

"This world will all become ours!"

Chapter 7 Anomaly Coordinates

Batman, the Spirit, and Mysterio basically dominated the headlines of all major and minor media outlets in Gotham. As a result, news about "helpful citizens rescuing kidnapped children" was relegated to a little-noticed corner.

That night, Shen You fired a shot at the demon spirit and gained a wave of experience. At the same time, his eyes recorded a unique energy fluctuation from the demon spirit.

Following the similar eerie fluctuations, he quickly found an abandoned warehouse in Gotham Port. Tearing open the door, he found the children who had been missing for the past few days inside.

To be honest, Shen You was quite surprised when he went in. The poor children were listless, their heads drooping. They were tied to crooked crosses, their faces smeared with strange patterns of blood, a horrifying sight.

Fortunately, it was only somewhat horrifying to look at; the children were all unharmed. Based on their description, it was clearly the work of a demonic spirit; it didn't communicate with the hostages at all, simply locking them up and then ignoring them. However, the scene appeared to be related to some kind of cult ritual.

The following night, the shop welcomed two enthusiastic guests.

A mother and daughter. The mother was in her thirties. Although the pressure of life made her look a little haggard, she maintained a very good figure and still had her charm. If Prime Minister Cao were here, he would probably exclaim that it was wonderful.

The daughter looked to be about seventeen or eighteen years old. Although she hadn't fully grown up yet, she had already inherited her mother's good looks, with an oval face, fair and tender skin, and her bright blue eyes filled with gratitude.

"I really don't know how to express my gratitude," the woman said, tears streaming down her face. "Ever since we heard that the leader of the Iron Mask Gang was hospitalized, they haven't come looking for us again."

I really don't know what to say. Johnny left us too soon, and for many years no man has been able to teach us how to protect ourselves, especially in a place like Gotham.

That old house is all our mother and daughter have left. What if we get kicked out?

Shen You remembered. The woman's name was Tess, and her daughter's name was Casey. The Johnny she mentioned was her deceased husband, who apparently had been beaten to death by the mob.

It is said that the Iron Mask Gang wants to buy the apartment building where they live for some reason. Some residents refuse to move out, which leads to some unpleasant conflicts.

Shen You quickly interrupted, "No. I'm very happy that your matter has a happy ending, but that unlucky guy from the Iron Face Gang broke his leg while skiing, it has nothing to do with me. That's what he told people himself."

The little girl, Casey, burst out laughing.

Tess also warmly invited Shen You: "If it's alright, we hope you can take some time to come to our home for dinner."

As she spoke, she winked, and her expression and eyes gave the impression that she had something else to say besides dinner.

Shen You was taken aback. He thought to himself, even if he had heard that the people here were unrestrained, wasn't this still a bit outrageous? Your daughter is watching over Madam, isn't that inappropriate?

Then I noticed that the little girl next to me was also looking at me expectantly.

Shen You suddenly realized that he might not fully understand Gotham.

Many things that seem outrageous in civilized society are probably commonplace here.

He casually took a couple of steps, avoiding the enthusiastic Tess, and politely declined her opportunistic invitation.

The woman looked disappointed, and her daughter looked even more disappointed.

Even after finally seeing Tess out, Casey lingered in the store, reluctant to leave, turning back every few steps.

The mother stood at the shop entrance for a while, then said half-jokingly, "If you don't leave now, I'll give you away as someone else's daughter and you'll never come back."

Casey's eyes widened, a glint of light flashing in them.

It's like saying, "Huh? Such a good thing?"

But in the end, Shen You still sent him away.

The young man sitting near the door in the shop looked on with envy and resentment, shaking his head repeatedly: "What a waste! What a waste! Boss Shen really doesn't know how to appreciate things."

This man's name is Tom, a regular customer at the store. He's a young man who recently graduated from university, can't find a job, and spends his days idly, but dreams of being a writer.

He spends all his time holed up in his filthy rented room, banging away, and nobody ever looks at what he produces, yet he always feels good about himself.

Sometimes he would come to the shop, order a cup of coffee, and sit there all day, claiming he was gathering material.

Shen You glanced at him: "I heard the new book flopped again?"

Tom's face instantly turned red.

"Who said that? I'm still gathering material, the book hasn't even been published yet, how can it be said to have flopped again?"

"Your alternate account has been exposed. What's it called, 'This time, let's cut the upside-down airplane again'?"

Tom's face turned even redder: "Writing a book... can that be called cutting? You've played video games, right? Don't games have the concept of 'padding the enemy'? This book of mine is meant to be used as padding, so it can't be considered cutting!"

Shen You looked at him with a half-smile.

The young man finally gave in to the barrage of glances, his face flushed as he ran out without looking back, shouting, "You guys wait, the next mission is about to take off!"

The store was instantly filled with a cheerful atmosphere.

However, when Shen You touched his face in front of the mirror, he couldn't help but fall into deep self-reflection.

Maybe I made too many subtle adjustments to look handsome when I transformed back into human form?

After transmigrating, his true form is now Ultraman, not human. However, due to his innate racial talent and the help of some school courses, he can transform himself into any human form.

He chose to retain his original appearance from before he transmigrated. He felt it was just a minor adjustment, but his charm seemed to be higher than he had expected.

After last night, the bracelet's energy increased slightly again. Theoretically, this should also improve Shen You's own strength, but the increase was small and there was no progress bar to show it, so he couldn't feel it.

It may only be intuitively felt when enough has been accumulated to achieve a qualitative change.

In fact, this not only affects the strength of his Ultraman form, but also the physical strength of his human form.

Yes, the human form also possesses extraordinary powers. Just like the super strength and superhuman motor skills that Zero Rabbit exhibits in its human form, including the near-instantaneous super speed that Director Hikari of their Science Bureau displayed in his human form during his early appearance in the TV series.

Even more exaggerated is Orb's human form, Kaigo. In his normal human form, he possesses incredible strength and super speed, even able to withstand beam attacks from gigantic monsters and aliens with his bare hands. This led some viewers to believe that Orb's Ultraman form was simply a giant Kaigo stuffed into a suit, or perhaps even weaker.

Like Kai Ge, Shen You's true form is non-human, possessing at least an invulnerable body, super speed invisible to the naked eye, and basic super strength.

Unless the opponent is too threatening, Shen You doesn't need to transform to deal with them.

The DC world is dangerous, but it's never short of opportunities to grind experience.

For example, the fact that Maroney had a bat spirit on him last night was quite bizarre. Logically speaking, there shouldn't have been any such supernatural elements in the early Batman stories; the criminals in Gotham at that time were mostly normal criminals, or at most, normal criminals with mental instability.

What appeared last night was clearly a bit beyond the scope of the curriculum. It felt like calculus appearing in an elementary school math exam—obviously designed to mess with the ego of the students.

"Ding."

The energy crystal on the bracelet suddenly flickered and reacted for some unknown reason.

Shen You's eyes lit up.

Could it be that some new feature has been activated?

He quickly took a look, but immediately realized that wasn't the case. This wasn't a reaction from the bracelet; rather, it was the bracelet's built-in spacetime compass being triggered by some unknown spatial behavior.

In other words, the bracelet detected some abnormal spatial fluctuations in the surrounding area.

Could there be other visitors from another world besides myself?

Who could they be? Did they also come from their own world?

With a thought, Shen You activated the bracelet's function. It immediately projected a map of Gotham City, with a red dot prominently marked among the intricate network of buildings.

Those are the specific coordinates where the anomaly occurred.

New author, new book, still eagerly awaiting your reading!

Chapter 8 The atmosphere has been built up to this point.

A hazy, overcast sky shrouded the city, with massive, leaden clouds covering the horizon. Gothic buildings rose from the ground, their silhouettes stretching endlessly under the gloom, as if shrouded in dark magic. A gray, chain-like atmosphere permeated the entire city, slowly swallowing weary, fallen souls.

This is Gotham, a city where darkness reigns even in the daytime.

Shen You changed into night clothes and followed the direction marked on the bracelet to a dark and dirty alley.

Sewage overflowed onto the street, and the fragile windows were covered with a thick layer of dust, as if accumulated over millennia. Even the lights at the alley entrance appeared dim and gloomy.

A dead end.

Shen You stopped in front of the alley and checked the coordinates again. The marked location was indeed here; he hadn't gone to the wrong place.

“If I were you, I would leave there, child.”

An aged voice sounded from behind. Shen You turned around and saw an old man appear at the alley entrance behind him.

His emaciated body, his dirty coat, made him seem to blend into the shadows. His face was thin and aged, the crisscrossing wrinkles silently telling the story of a life weathered by time, and his deep hooked nose was covered with the marks of years.

He appeared to be dressed like a homeless person, yet he exuded an inexplicable air of authority.

"Leave here, now."

The old man spoke sternly, his tone more like a command than a request.

"While you can still walk, child. Otherwise..."

Before he could finish speaking, a strange "hehehehe" laugh echoed from the shadows.

“Oh, damn it,” the old man said, his brow furrowed, “it’s too late.”

The shadow at the alley entrance seemed to flow like a fluid, quickly rising and forming a strange black shape.

The creature had a human-like physique, but carried a huge, dark green carapace covered in dense, bristly hairs. Its fluorite-like eyes gleamed in the darkness, and its legs resembled hundreds of slender, silver tentacles, sending chills down one's spine.

"A demonic spirit, a lackey of dark magic," the old man scoffed. "Since when even a nobody like you dares to face me?"

"Even when you're so weak you can't sit firmly on the throne of the Rock of Eternity, you old man."

The demon chuckled strangely twice.

"Nine thousand years have passed, and every day you've grown older and weaker. Finally, you're not as formidable as you used to be? Old man?"

Good heavens, nine thousand years old! He's even older than me, Ultraman! Shen You thought to himself.

The Rock of Eternity, the wizard. He seemed to have a vague idea.

This old man is probably the old wizard who granted Bulge Batson seven divine powers in the movie "Shazam!", the original Shazam.

This old fellow is no ordinary person; he's one of the world's most powerful wizards. In both the original work and the movie, he's so old that he's searching the world for a successor with the purest heart to inherit his divine power.

Basically, it's a magical American comic version of a traditional Xianxia story where "a master is about to die and urgently needs to find a disciple to give him nine thousand years of cultivation for free".

The wizard snorted in a deep voice: "I may be old, but I am still the guardian of the Eternal Rock, the master of all magic in the world, and the suppressor of ancient magical beasts!"

Who do you think you are to oppose me? Get out of my way at once!

With a loud shout, the wizard raised his right hand, and light and electricity immediately appeared in his palm!
