"Well, my friend doesn't have many requirements for her pet's companion, she just needs it to be strong enough in combat."
"Because that golden retriever's way of life isn't very suitable for combat, my friend wanted a strong companion to protect it."
Arthur seemed to regret it as he said:
"Sigh, looking back, I should have chosen a more powerful path for you. However, this path would also become very strong in the mid-series, it's just a pity..."
After hearing his words, Arthas twitched his ears and muttered with some skepticism:
"I feel like you're just trying to fool me."
"However, I don't care whether it's true or not, because..."
Arthas sat upright, raising its front paws and bringing them together in a gesture similar to hands clasped in prayer.
Then, with a solemn and dignified expression, it said:
"I no longer have those worldly desires."
Arthur: ...
Can anyone tell him why this little guy doesn't learn anything serious, but learns the witty remarks he casually utters so quickly?
"You little brat, you've lost those worldly desires, huh!?"
Somewhat exasperated, Arthur shoved the puppy down, making it lie on its back on his stomach with its belly exposed.
"Hehe, I'm getting impatient." Arthas was still unaware of the seriousness of the situation and was repeatedly teetering on the edge of disaster.
"hehe......"
Arthur glanced at the puppy's lower belly with ill intent, then grinned sinisterly:
"Since you no longer have those worldly desires, then why not..."
Arthas suddenly shivered and quickly gave a French military salute:
"I was wrong! I surrender!"
"Hmph! You brat, now you know you're wrong? Too late!"
Arthur wasn't going to let the little thing off so easily. He held the puppy down and gave it a good rub before finally letting it go.
Arthas quickly ran to the side, muttering angrily:
"You wretched Arthur, if you dare to bully me again, I'm going to get angry."
"Oh? How exactly are you going to get angry?" Arthur teased.
“I’ll wake you up after you fall asleep,” Arthas threatened.
"Hiss~ You're actually this ruthless?"
"Hmph, scared now?" Arthas looked a little smug.
"I'm scared, this move is too ruthless."
Arthur picked up the puppy again and said:
"Dear Mr. Arthas, please don't disturb me when I'm sleeping later."
"Like last time?" Arthas asked curiously, tilting his head back.
"That's right, so you'll have to keep watch for me for a while."
"Alright then." Arthas quietly lay down on Arthur's stomach.
At three o'clock, Arthur saw the crimson tide engulf him.
Meanwhile, Arthas, who was on his stomach, murmured:
"The mysterious ruler above the gray fog... Hmm... I heard that again..."
Chapter 86 Guidance
Queens Backlund.
At this moment, Audrey seemed somewhat restless in her room.
She had previously asked Fors and Hugh to help investigate Zillingus, but unexpectedly, they almost stumbled into a trap set by the cunning Hurricane General during the investigation.
Hugh and Fors nearly faced mortal danger as a result, which left Audrey feeling both guilty and flustered, as it was the first time she had experienced such a perilous situation.
Therefore, she had no choice but to decide to suspend the investigation.
She didn't want Hugh and Fors to be in danger again, nor did she want to expose herself and implicate her family.
After careful consideration, Audrey accepted Fors's suggestion and used the available intelligence to deduce Zillingus's purpose.
Once you understand what Zilingus truly wants to do, no matter how he disguises himself with "wriggling hunger," he will eventually be exposed.
However, given her lack of experience, it was clear that she couldn't accomplish this task.
Therefore, Audrey ultimately decided to seek help from the members of the Tarot Club.
Of course, it was mainly thanks to the help of Mr. Chariot and Mr. Hanged Man.
Because Little Sun is clearly still young, and Mr. Fool doesn't care about such mundane matters.
Three o'clock arrived quickly, and the rich, deep red color overwhelmed Audrey's vision.
When she regained consciousness, she saw the enigmatic Mr. Fool, along with three other members of the Tarot Club.
Audrey's worries and anxieties were instantly soothed, leaving her feeling calm and at peace.
With Mr. Fool's help, and Mr. Chariot and Mr. Hanged Man offering advice, she had no need to fear Zillingus.
Audrey straightened her back and cheerfully greeted Mr. Fool and the three members.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, she didn't rush to bring up the matter of Qilingus, but instead asked with concern:
"Dear Mr. Fool, I wonder if your servant has received the 300 pounds of compensation?"
Klein naturally wouldn't mention that he had repeatedly confirmed that the anonymous account had an extra three hundred gold pounds.
This was a timely financial boost for him, as he needed to use gold to create the Yangyan Talisman.
“I haven’t been paying attention to this matter,” he said casually.
At this point, Audrey said to Alger, "Mr. Hanged Man, there's been progress on the Ziringus matter."
Alger immediately perked up and asked, unable to hide his joy:
"where is he?"
Upon hearing his question, Audrey recounted the intelligence she had gathered over the past few days, focusing on Hugh and Fors's experiences and explaining their subsequent thought process.
Alger nodded and said:
"I will keep a close eye on this matter and find out what Zilingus's purpose is as soon as possible."
He also didn't figure out why Zilingus had suddenly come ashore, or what that magical item that Zilingus coveted so much was.
Therefore, he needs to conduct further investigations to confirm this.
"Mr. 'Chariot,' do you have any ideas?" Audrey asked at this moment.
What kind of ideas could he possibly come up with with so little information? He's not a prophet... Alger muttered to himself.
Although he acknowledged the wisdom of this Mr. Chariot, he did not believe that the other party could make any useful deductions based on such limited information.
Even someone as knowledgeable as him as Ziringus couldn't see anything, let alone Mr. Chariot.
To Alger's surprise, the man in the chariot beside him let out a soft chuckle.
He looked at Alger and said:
"You said before that Zilingus suddenly came to Backlund with unclear motives, and that he would also obtain a powerful item, right?"
“Yes,” the Hanged Man replied.
"So, can we make a bold guess that he came because he received a mission?"
"Could that powerful item be his reward for completing the mission?"
These words made the other three people, except for Little Sun, fall into thought.
And soon, they all came to agree with Arthur's conjecture.
Because, as things stand, this conjecture is the most reasonable.
At this moment, Audrey asked:
"Even though we know that Zilingus came because of a mission, we still don't know his purpose."
Alger looked at Mr. Chariot, knowing that the other man must have more to say.
Sure enough, Mr. Chariot asked with a smile:
"Miss Justice, since the reward for this mission is so high, do you think it might be easy?"
“Of course not, it will definitely be very difficult,” Audrey replied without hesitation.
"So, the target of Zilingus's mission must be a high-value target, right?" Arthur asked, trying to persuade him.
He's actually misrepresenting the issue here, because the Zilingus mission doesn't necessarily have just one objective; it could be a combination of multiple different missions that results in such a high reward.
However, under Arthur's guidance, the others temporarily ignored this possibility.
Once the incident involving Qilingus comes to light, Arthur's prediction will be proven incredibly accurate, and no one will care about this minor flaw anymore.
“High-value targets?” Audrey murmured.
“That’s right. So, Miss Justice, what high-value targets do you think Backlund has?” Arthur asked with a smile.
“If we’re talking about high-value targets, the three major churches should be the first choice, but Qilingus wouldn’t dare to mess with the Church of the True God,” the Hanged Man said with a frown.
A pirate admiral sounds impressive, and he certainly was a formidable figure at sea.
But in the face of the true church, he is not much of a threat, let alone the fact that he has left the sea and come to land.
“No, that’s not all,” Audrey said at this moment.
"Hmm?" Alger asked, somewhat puzzled.
“Mr. Hanged Man, have you forgotten that besides the three major churches, there are many noble officials in Backlund?” Audrey said seriously.
