The priest nodded to Ke Ling, then asked the question directly.

"Any identity is acceptable?"

Ke Ling asked curiously, "You can actually choose your own identity? I thought it would just be a matter of registering your household registration."

"If you want to become the mayor of Night City directly, you definitely have no chance."

The priest smiled and shook his head; he wasn't actually that powerful.

"A normal identity is fine, at least I don't want the NCPD to arrest me as soon as they scan me."

Ke Ling laughed too. Being the mayor of Night City was no easy job; he wouldn't even want to be one.

"No problem, what's your new name?"

The priest readily agreed; giving a scannable identity to an unregistered person of unknown origin was not a difficult task for him.

Actually, there are many people in Night City who can handle this service, but most of them charge a fee. Jack brought his men to him simply because he wanted to save the money.

The priest didn't think there was anything wrong with it. Jack was a child he had watched grow up. He had never been married and had no children. Jack was like a son to him.

"Um, let's call him Ke Ling, no, let's call him Daiwo Collins."

Ke Ling originally intended to keep her identity unchanged, but then she thought, what's the point of showing off if I don't have the ability? I might as well put on an alias first.

When you're out and about, it's important to have a disguise. That way, if someone wants to find you, they can scan your profile and it will show you as Devor Collins.

Then he could simply say, "The person you're looking for is named Ke Ling. What does that have to do with me, Daivo Collins?"

“Very good. Starting tomorrow, you will be Mr. Davo Collins of Night City.”

The priest noted it down. He completely understood why Ke Ling wanted to register a fake name, as not many people register their real names.

"So what should I call you from now on? Daiwo? Or Keling?"

Jack Wells chuckled and chimed in, saying that he was the type who never changed his name or surname, and never adopted a nickname or anything like that, unlike V.

"Call me K? Or L?D?"

Ke Ling smiled. This single-character name just sounds a bit strange.

"So, according to you, I should be called J? Or W?"

Jack Wells was overjoyed, and then he thought of a friend of his.

"I do know a kid named V."

The priest spoke, which surprised Jack Wells. He didn't expect the priest to know V, but Ke Ling wasn't surprised.

Street V already knew the priest and had a good relationship with him, receiving a lot of care from him.

But what's Jack Wells doing? Shouldn't he be a stranger to V by now? Ke Ling wondered.

"Father? You know V?"

Jack Wells asked in surprise, as far as he knew, V and Haywood shouldn't have much interaction.

"Of course, it's a girl from Haywood, I haven't introduced you to her yet."

The priest spoke as if it were obvious; the V he mentioned was clearly the one Ke Ling had met at the Wild Wolf Bar.

However, the "V" that Jack Wells mentioned seemed to be different, and a possibility couldn't help but pop into Ke Ling's mind.

“Well, it seems we’re not talking about the same person. I also know a girl named V, but she’s not from Haywood.”

Sure enough, Jack Wells shook his head; the V he was referring to was not the same person that Ke Ling and the priest were talking about.

Ke Ling understood; he had guessed correctly. The V that Jack Wells knew now could only be a former corporate employee.

V, a street girl who also hangs out in Heywood, doesn't know Jack Wells, even though their lives actually overlap a lot.

Company V, which came from a wealthy family but later fell on hard times, should theoretically have little to do with Jack Wells, but they did know each other long ago and had a pretty good relationship.

There are two V's!

Ke Ling exclaimed in surprise, "How fortunate is Night City? To be served by three living devils at the same time?"

"It seems that quite a few people do use letters as code names."

Jack Wells also remarked, but his and Ke Ling's sentiments were clearly not in the same direction.

"Yes, quite a lot."

Ke Ling chimed in, "Who knows, we might meet another one named V in the future."

After all, we already have V who came from a corporate background and a street kid, so why would we be short of a third V who came from a homeless background?

"Father, is there any work available lately? I'm a little short on cash and need to earn some money to spend."

Jack Wells asked the priest, and although he heard that there was someone with the same name as his friend, Jack Wells didn't pay much attention to it.

There are plenty of people with the same name, let alone just a nickname.

Please read my new book! It's really important! Thank you so much, dear readers!!

Chapter 24 A hero saves a beauty?

What kind of job do you want?

As Heywood's middleman, and for quite some time at that, the priest certainly didn't lack work.

"Of course you can make a lot of money!"

Jack Wells flashed his bright white teeth. He was short of money lately and had been wanting to get a new car, but he was simply strapped for cash.

"You kid."

The priest chuckled and cursed, then a glint flashed in his eyes, and a task and a contact method were sent to Jack Wells and Ke Ling.

Ke Ling also has a fixed way to contact him, a "phone number," all of which were packaged and installed for him by Lao Wei.

I have to say it again, Lao Wei, you're so thoughtful!

Ke Ling's caller ID picture was a goat demon head, and the contact's name was "Going Out for a Walk." Using a code name was indeed necessary.

He glanced at the mission; it wasn't complicated: eliminate a group of cleaners, and if any of the captured people were still alive, rescue them as well.

There was no other way but to rescue them as well, since once they were captured by the Cleaners, the chances of them surviving by the time someone came to rescue them were not very high. But it would be good to help them get revenge.

"Whose contact information is this?"

Jack Wells was a little confused. The task itself was fine; he loathed the cleaners and was willing to do the job. But why was he given an extra contact number?

“It’s V’s; I’ve told her about this.”

The priest explained that he had just remembered this incident after V was mentioned.

"She said she was going to Atlanta. I don't know if she's left yet. You can try to contact her; she'll be a good help."

The priest thought V probably hadn't left yet; if the child were leaving, he would have come to say goodbye.

"She hasn't left yet. I met her at Wild Wolf this morning."

Ke Ling began to speak, thinking that the reason V hadn't come to say goodbye to the priest or left for Atlanta was probably because he had influenced V.

"That's great, I'd like to meet this V."

Jack Wells' curiosity was piqued. Ke Ling had only been there for a day, yet he had already seen V, even at the Wild Wolf Bar. How come he was the only one who had never seen him before?

It has to be said that this is a magical fate, a fate that will be missed forever.

"I'll contact her; after all, we've met once."

Ke Ling took the initiative to contact V, and Jack Wells naturally had no objection to this; there was nothing to fight over.

"Du~~~"

Ke Ling dialed V's number. Having a phone number meant she could make calls even without adding him as a friend.

"Click."

However, the call was not answered and was immediately disconnected, which made Ke Ling feel a little embarrassed.

This V is wrong, isn't it?!

V, who dares to watch Mewtwo if he picks it up off the street, and who dares to insert any random chip into his brain-computer interface, would actually not answer calls from unknown numbers?!

Given V's personality, shouldn't she answer the phone and chat with whoever calls her?

Ke Ling refused to believe it and played it again. He was determined that V wouldn't answer. After harassing her like this, she would definitely answer and yell at him before she would stop.

Sure enough, the call connected this time, and then V's voice came through.

"I don't care who your mother is, I'm fucking too busy to answer the phone right now! Got it?!"

V's roar rang in Ke Ling's ears, accompanied by incessant gunshots. Before Ke Ling could reply, V hung up again.

Jack Wells and the priest watched Ke Ling with some doubt in their eyes. Had the call gone through or not?

"She seems to be in some trouble and is having an intense discussion about marksmanship with someone."

Ke Ling shrugged helplessly and gave a simple explanation: V was obviously in a gunfight.

"Ha, isn't this a coincidence? First meeting and he comes to rescue the damsel in distress?"

Jack Wells raised an eyebrow and joked.

Jack Wells wasn't surprised that V was in a gunfight; isn't that what they do every day?

"I'll ask her."

Without hesitation, the priest dialed V's number.

V might ignore a call from an unknown number like Ke Ling, but it's a different story when it comes to his calls.

Sure enough, V answered the phone immediately after he dialed it, without any hesitation.

"Father! I'll call you later if it's not urgent!"

After the call connected, V was still in a hurry, responding to the priest while continuing to curse under his breath.

"Die! You bastard!"
