The fight is about to begin!
Steve shrugged, put his hands in his pockets, and turned to look at the falling leaves outside the window. This was not something he could watch.
Thor chuckled foolishly, waiting for the show to begin, but Lin Bei glared at him fiercely. Thor decisively lowered his head to look for ants, pondering the difference between these little creatures and those in Asgard.
"Stop messing around, you're making me lose all face."
Lin Bei's eyes twitched. He grabbed Yelena's hand, pulled her up with him, and then coaxed her aside like a child.
"Thor, you give it a try. After all, it's your hammer; it can't just keep going around in someone else's hands."
Lin Bei stared intently at Thor, wanting to see if Thor's power was truly sealed, and if it was indeed as depicted in the movie.
Then let's stick to our own script. Don't even think about making Thor a good king.
This small piece of land on Earth is under the control of the Sorcerer Supreme. King Thor doesn't have it, but the fat Thor does.
Odin's disagreement was useless; he took Thor into the Apocalypse Dimension and released him only after he had become a fat man.
Thor was completely unaware of Lin Bei's sinister intentions. He eagerly approached Mjolnir, who had been holding him for several minutes, took two deep breaths, gripped the hammer handle, and pulled hard.
"drink!"
"what!"
"Ouch!"
Thor first used one hand, then both hands, and finally both hands and feet, straddling the hammer with his entire body tense, veins bulging in his neck, and his face flushed red, but he couldn't budge it an inch.
"no no!"
"No, Father, that's not how it is!!"
Thor knelt down, his world collapsing instantly. His tiger-like eyes filled with tears as he looked up at the sky, crying like a child weighing hundreds of pounds.
Not picking up the hammer meant he had lost his right, lost his father's love, was stripped of his glory as Thor, and would never be able to return to Asgard to play happily with Loki again.
Thinking of this, Thor felt as if his heart was being torn apart. He knelt down on the ground in a daze, his soul losing its color, and his whole body turning gray.
An aura of despair hung over Thor like a dark cloud, clearly visible even from hundreds of meters away.
Lin Bei glanced disdainfully at Thor, who looked utterly hopeless.
Having been a brute for 1,500 years, suddenly being asked to learn the benevolence of a monarch is like going from basic addition and subtraction to advanced mathematics – a recipe for disaster for a slacker.
If Thor had this kind of brain, he would have already shown his kingly demeanor!
In Lin Bei's view, Odin's education of his children was a complete failure. Of his three children, Hela and Loki, the only one with a somewhat normal mind, Loki, was rejected by his enemies.
If you want to cultivate a crown prince, then don't let him wander around on the battlefield all the time; keeping him in the palace to handle domestic affairs is the basic operation.
Unfortunately, Loki is in charge of Asgard's internal affairs, and his ambition continues to grow. Hela and Thor are in charge of capturing enemy generals and seizing their flags, and their pleasure is escalating infinitely.
That means Asgard is no longer at war, otherwise Thor would be another Hela. It's a pity that Odin experienced a failed education and didn't learn a single lesson.
"Boss, let's leave here first!"
"What?"
Steve explained, "I ran into people from S.H.I.E.L.D. when I went to get the hammer. They'll be here soon."
"S.H.I.E.L.D., what's there to be afraid of? They're all on our side."
"Uh... there's one that isn't."
"What did you say? There are other undercover agents in S.H.I.E.L.D. besides Nick Fury?" Lin Bei asked in surprise.
Who exactly is this person who has managed to persist until now without being assimilated?
With S.H.I.E.L.D.'s welfare policies, it's unbelievable that some agents are still having second thoughts.
"It's Phil Coulson, a Level 8 agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and he's Nick Fury's confidant."
"So it was him, no wonder." A receding hairline flashed before Lin Bei's eyes.
Looking at the uneasy Steve, he joked, "As far as I know, he's a huge fan of yours, isn't he?"
"Uh, I did ask for an autographed photo." Steve found it difficult to say this, as he recalled that when he first met Coulson, Coulson was just an old, Mediterranean-looking man from Myanmar.
After being invited to Coulson's house again, Steve avoided Coulson whenever possible.
This is a fanatic to the point of being obsessive.
He even wears Captain America-themed underwear.
Lin Bei's eyes lit up and he had a good idea. "Steve, take this opportunity to use your idol's charm to lure Agent Hairline into Hydra, and then give Nick Fury a righteous backstab."
The more he thought about it, the more he felt there was potential in this: "It's settled then, we'll wait for him here."
Steve nearly coughed up blood, his expression contorted as he said, "Boss, don't do this! Phil may be a freak, but he really is a good person!"
"Give me a break~ How could someone who's an eighth-level special agent be a good person?"
And what do you mean by that? That good people can't join Hydra?
Lin Bei scoffed. Agent Philson might be a decent person, but when it came to carrying out missions, he was definitely ruthless and decisive. Otherwise, Nick Fury wouldn't have groomed him as his successor.
In the original storyline, he actually became the bureau chief later on and even got a high-tech arm.
Steve's face turned ashen, and he stammered, "Boss, this...that...I don't know how either!"
"If you don't know how to do it, learn from those underground idols who live a simple life. If that doesn't work, learn about Korean idol culture."
What kind of look is that?
"Alright, alright, I'm leaving!" Lin Bei waved his hand speechlessly, signaling Steve to carry Thor away, and then put his arms around Natasha and Yelena. The two of them were still so close, so close that they were about to start fighting.
After the group left, the still frame in the restaurant suddenly resumed. Jane stared blankly at the empty chair, her mind going blank, as if she had forgotten some important information.
"Wow, what did I just see? I think I saw a Captain America cosplayer! He looks just like him, and he's got muscles!" Louise jumped up and down excitedly. Suddenly, she looked like she had lost out big time and slumped in her seat: "Damn it, I forgot to take a picture and post it on Twitter and get his contact information."
Clearly, their memories had been altered; they only remembered Steve appearing with a hammer and taking Thor away, while their memories of Lin Bei were completely forgotten.
About fifteen minutes later, Agent Coulson, looking travel-worn, arrived at the restaurant. After asking several questions, he called Nick Fury and briefly explained what had happened.
He found the hammer that fell from the sky, which no one could lift. It was then taken away by his idol Steve, who also took away a Thor from Asgard.
On the other side, Steve looked at Nick Fury's call on his communicator and thought to himself that he couldn't avoid it after all. He then started communicating with Fury.
"Chief Fury!"
"Captain, you took two very important things. I need an explanation."
"In Norse mythology, there is Thor and his hammer. Thor is also the crown prince of Asgard. His safety poses a serious threat to Earth. I must send him away as soon as possible."
After Nick Fury put his monocle back on, a very daring idea suddenly popped into his head: this Thor.
Can we recruit the Avengers?
Chapter 242
"Captain, could you tell me more about Asgard?"
Nick Fury is very interested in the forces in the universe.
The reasons stem from his early experiences and the achievements of those idiot members of Congress, such as launching some kind of signal satellite.
The Skrulls, the alien refugees, came here following the signal.
Only thanks to the protection of interstellar law did Earth escape disaster.
Those raiders and alien bandits were not strong enough, plus the presence of the Sorcerer Supreme and the territory nominally belonging to Odin.
It's now Linbei's territory.
However, Nick Fury was unaware of all this; he only knew that there was a figure named Sorcerer Supreme protecting Earth.
How can this be attributed solely to a non-American organization? Even American organizations aren't necessarily all good people; only I am truly righteous.
The root of all this can be traced back to Nick Fury's paranoia.
For Nick Fury, this is a compliment. As the saying goes, where you sit determines where you look, and it's a good thing that the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. is always highly vigilant.
“I once compiled a file about Asgard, which is now at S.H.I.E.L.D.,” Steve said truthfully.
Five years ago, after Steve was unearthed, and three years ago when he unexpectedly joined Hydra, Steve remained true to his original intentions and secretly gathered a lot of internal information about Hydra.
Despite being located in a remote and impoverished corner of the universe, Earth is home to quite a few extraterrestrials, and some even land there by accident.
Most of the aliens that inhabit Earth are peaceful and content with their lives, while a small number are unstable elements, the most famous of whom are the Skrulls.
Hydra's primary mission is to eliminate numerous alien spies hiding on Earth, a task they perform even more professionally than S.H.I.E.L.D.
Steve's compilation of this intelligence naturally caught the attention of the Hydra agents within S.H.I.E.L.D.
I was just worried that there wasn't much lucrative work at S.H.I.E.L.D.
Using the methods for identifying aliens from Steve's intelligence files, these people did some serious work.
This further boosted Steve's popularity within S.H.I.E.L.D.
This file contains information about Asgard, including the Nine Realms and the relationship between Earth and Asgard, all clearly stated in the document.
While the data is not comprehensive and is rather general, it is sufficient for the current situation on Earth.
In Steve's view, it was a good thing that Nick Fury was ambitious, but in fact, he didn't need to worry too much. Hydra, the higher-ups at S.H.I.E.L.D., had already taken care of everything regarding the forces outside of Earth.
Especially in Asgard, the Hydra leader, by virtue of his status as the Sorcerer Supreme, maintained a harmonious relationship with the two sides, and they had been in a honeymoon period for a long time.
Asgard has long lacked war, resulting in a decline in the combat effectiveness of its soldiers. The warriors of Asgard have been actively operating outside the country as Hydra mercenaries. Both sides have their own interests and are practically inseparable.
Therefore, Nick Fury should just focus on his job on Earth; meddling in other people's affairs might backfire despite his good intentions.
For example, Thor's descent to Earth this time concerns Odin, the king of Asgard. Only the Sorcerer Supreme is qualified to participate, and no one else is.
It wasn't that Steve looked down on Nick Fury, but rather that he was simply not qualified enough; Odin probably wouldn't even give him a second glance.
The Sorcerer Supreme is different. Although he is somewhat unreliable in personality and enjoys slacking off and playing pranks, his status is undeniable. He has always been regarded by the Asgardians as the most esteemed person on Earth.
Of course, Steve also knew very well that Odin was willing to give Lin Bei face not because of his status, but because of his strength; otherwise, even if the ultimate mage came, it would be of no use.
Lin Bei's strength was formidable, yet he did not commit any evil deeds. He restrained Hydra with his own code of conduct, and his years of dedication to safeguarding the safety of Earth impressed Steve.
This is also why Steve was willing to join Hydra without rebelling. Apart from messing with the aliens and causing them to complain, it was almost impeccable in other aspects.
As for his unreliable personality, one can only say that no one is perfect.
