Finding his long-unused backpack, Kitahara Sosuke unzipped it, waved to the little flower, and said, "Come to my bowl!"

This calico cat didn't seem to hold grudges. After being fed and playing with the Kitahara siblings last night, it had become quite familiar with them. It nimbly jumped into the backpack, turned over inside, and meowed twice at Kitahara Sousuke outside.

Alright, having made sure to leave a breathing hole for the little flower inside the bag, Kitahara Sosuke slung the bag across his chest, changed his shoes, and went out.

"I am leaving."

"Nissan, be careful on the road!"

"Remember to bring Dafu back."

Pets are generally not allowed on trains in Japan, but the Japanese are quite tolerant of cats. Kitahara Sousuke hid his calico cat in his bag, and the security personnel only glanced at it before letting him through.

Having avoided the rush hour, the subway wasn't too crowded. Kitahara Sousuke found an empty seat, unzipped the backpack he was holding a little, and Sanhua's head quickly popped out.

Unlike many pet cats that are afraid of traveling and struggle in the bag, its fluffy head looked at the other passengers in the carriage, its two front paws resting on the edge of the zipper, revealing half of its cute paws, and its pair of delicate heterochromatic eyes shining with curiosity.

"Onii-chan, is this your cat?"

Cute plush animals always capture a girl's heart. The girl sitting next to Kitahara Sousuke was drawn to the little flower's movements and leaned closer to ask.

"Yes, that's right." Kitahara Sousuke glanced at the other person, who was wearing a blue and white dress, with long black hair tied in a ponytail, and a delicate yet innocent face; she looked like an elementary school student.

"Can I touch it?" A little shy, but unable to resist the movements of the three flowers in Kitahara Sosuke's arms, the girl sitting next to him asked with a blush.

"Of course." He handed the bag in his arms to the girl, who exclaimed "Wow!" in surprise.

"Thank you, Onii-chan."

Kitahara Sousuke watched for a while as the girl played with the little three flowers, her face flushed, before lowering his head to play on his phone again.

"Where are you going, Onii-chan?" After playing for a while and getting a little tired, the girl with the black ponytail asked while holding her little flower.

“Take it for a check-up.” Kitahara Sosuke pointed to the calico dog purring in the girl’s arms.

"Hey, is the kitten sick?" The little girl hugged the kitten in her arms even tighter.

"No, it's just a routine check-up." Kitahara Sousuke carefully chose his words, trying his best to sound like a bad guy. "So, uh, where are you going?"

"My name is Katsura Shin, you can just call me Shin-chan, Onii-chan." The girl lifted the kitten in her arms, rubbed it against her cheek, and then tilted her head to look at Kitahara Sousuke.

"Xin wants to run away from home today. Her sister is angry. How scary!"

"Oh? Running away from home?" Kitahara Sosuke looked at the earnest little girl and asked with amusement, "Where are you planning to go?"

"Xin plans to spend the day at a friend's house. When her sister can't find Xin and panics, Xin will suddenly appear. That way, her sister will be happy and forget about Xin's prank!"

Gui Xin said with a grin.

"What prank did you play that made your sister so angry?"

Kitahara Sousuke asked curiously.

"Hehe, you can't tell, my sister will kill me."

"..."

How terrifying! Hearing the word "murder" from a little girl's mouth? It must be a joke, right?

"Then be careful, and come home early if you get tired of playing." Kitahara Sosuke smiled and patted the little girl's hair. "Okay, I've arrived."

"Oh, what a pity. I wanted to talk to Onii-chan more." Kokoro reluctantly handed the backpack containing Mikasa to Kitahara Sousuke, looking regretful.

"Anyway, let's talk again next time. Goodbye." Kitahara Sousuke took the backpack and slung it over his shoulder.

"Onii-chan is so kind. Add me on Line. I'll go find Onii-chan next time I run away from home."

Gui Xin shouted loudly.

"..."

Suddenly, everyone around them turned to stare at Kitahara Sousuke and Katsura Shin, as if they were watching a lolicon abducting a criminal. Kitahara Sousuke quickly covered his face and ran away.

Even after the train doors closed, Kitahara Sosuke could still see the girl smiling and waving at him through the glass.

Chapter Sixty: Public Execution

After leaving the station, Kitahara Sōsuke walked for about ten minutes and arrived at the hospital where he had made an appointment the day before. As soon as he entered, the nurse at the front desk quickly came up to him.

"Hello, how can I help you?" the young woman in the white nurse's uniform asked politely.

“I want to give it a check-up. I picked it up from the neighborhood.” Kitahara Sosuke unzipped his pants and took out the little calico cat, which was blinking its curious heterochromatic eyes as it looked around the hospital.

"Okay, this way please."

The doctor who received Kitahara Sousuke was a man in his thirties. After asking a few simple questions about the cat's health, he asked a nurse to take the calico cat for a check-up.

Blood draw, tests, injections. After all that, Xiao Sanhua was exhausted. She hadn't eaten breakfast and didn't even have the strength to resist. As soon as it was over, she crawled into her bag and refused to come out.

While waiting for the test results, Kitahara Sousuke also had a brief chat with the doctor about how he found the kitten and what he needed to be careful about when raising a cat in the future.

The details cannot be explained in a sentence or two, but Kitahara Sōsuke benefited greatly from the brief experience shared.

"The test results are in, and everything is healthy except for some kidney weakness. It's probably because the food I ate when I was homeless wasn't very healthy."

The doctor at the desk browsed through one prescription after another that Kitahara Sousuke couldn't understand, prescribed some deworming medication, and gave a fairly good result.

"Is there anything I should be aware of?"

"It's not a big problem, but you should feed your cat less ham, rice balls, and the like from home in the future. Human food is too high in salt, which puts too much strain on a cat's kidneys."

“Okay, thanks for reminding me. I’ll be more careful in the future.” Kitahara Sousuke nodded.

"Oh, by the way, your cat is almost a year old, right? At this age, it's recommended to have it spayed or neutered as soon as possible," the veterinarian dropped another bombshell.

"sterilization?"

He glanced at the little florid girl who was blinking her innocent eyes and staring back at him. Her pure eyes were full of naivety, and she hadn't yet realized the seriousness of the situation.

"By the way, is my cat male or female?" Kitahara Sousuke asked curiously.

"If it's a calico cat, it's usually a female cat, right?"

The doctor sat behind the table and tapped the medical examination form in front of him with his pen. He wanted to reach into the bag to take the kitten out to check, but the kitten was gripping the inside of the bag tightly and wouldn't let go, so he had to give up.

So Kitahara Sousuke had no choice but to leave the calico cat at the hospital, along with his backpack. Pets that have been vaccinated need to be quarantined for a period of time, and since the hospital Kitahara Sousuke came to had a boarding service, he paid for two days of boarding there.

After settling the calico cat, who is now his pet, Kitahara Sousuke bought some cat food, cat litter, and other commonly used items from the veterinary hospital.

So tens of thousands of yen disappeared in an instant; raising a cat really isn't cheap.

There's no rush to sterilize her. The doctor also suggested that it's best to take her home and let her rest for a while first, since her previous life as a stray has made her body a bit weak and not suitable for immediate surgery.

Kitahara Sousuke took a train to the shopping street near his home. He found a fairly well-decorated shop. Although the shop was small, he finally managed to buy a keyboard and mouse that suited him. Then he picked up a copy of Jump at the entrance of the bookstore.

While muttering to himself about his unexpected expenses this month, Kitahara Sousuke suddenly noticed some noise behind him. There were quite a few people pointing and whispering on the street, who looked like high school students.

The crowd's attention was drawn to a girl squatting on the ground. Underneath a blue sun hat were long, satin-like golden hair. She wore a light green hoodie and brown hot pants, with her fair thighs peeking out from between her black knee-high socks and the hot pants.

"She looks familiar... Is that... Eriri?"

Kitahara Sosuke quickly recognized Eriri, who had changed her clothes.

……

"Eri, let's go shopping together this weekend?" a few close female friends invited.

"I'm sorry, the art club has an event this weekend, so I probably can't go tomorrow." Maintaining her elegance, Eriri declined with a smile.

"Oh, okay."

Shopping? No time for that. Nothing beats staying home reading comics and playing games. Eriri thought to herself as she changed into her disguise at home and rode her bicycle.

Eriri wouldn't want to go out if her drawing tablet hadn't broken. But it just so happens that she needs to buy some new notebooks. It's not that she wants to read them herself, but... yes, to learn from their art styles and broaden her thinking.

Of course, this kind of thing can't be discovered by classmates and friends.

There were too many people in the shopping street, making it difficult to ride a bike. Eriri parked her bike a short distance away, easily found a familiar store, and bought a new graphics tablet.

Then, he glanced furtively at the bookstore next door, lowered his hat brim, and went inside. When he came out, he was carrying a black bag.

Walking along the sidewalk towards the exit of the shopping street, Eriri was greeted by the two girls who had invited her shopping yesterday. Oh no, don't panic! She pulled her hat down low to hide her face; they wouldn't recognize her, Eriri thought to herself.

"Eh, Eriri-san, Eriri, are you done with the art club stuff?" Just what I feared most happened, Eriri's attempt to fake it backfired spectacularly.

"Uh, I just finished something. My graphics tablet broke, so I stopped by to buy a new one." Eriri guiltily gestured to the graphics tablet in her hand and subtly covered the other side with her body.

"Hey, let's go shopping together. It's so rare to run into Eriri-san." The other person was exceptionally enthusiastic, even grabbing Eriri's hand that was carrying a black bag and shaking it.

"Uh, no, that's alright, I have other things to do." Eriri hurriedly tried to pull her hand back.

As it turns out, chatting in the middle of the street is definitely not a safe thing to do. In the flow of people, Eriri was bumped by someone, her hand slipped, and the book in her bag fell out.

Eriri hurriedly squatted down, trying to pick up the things.

"I'll help," the girl opposite quickly knelt down to help Eriri pick up the scattered notebooks. "Eh, what's this...?"

The girl who helped picked up the notebook, still wrapped in plastic. The cover showed a girl in a very short, low-cut maid outfit, handcuffed to a bed, staring at her with tearful eyes.

The girl hurriedly threw what she was holding on the ground, grabbed her companion's hand, and looked at Eriri with some surprise.

"No, no, this is actually..."

Eriri waved her hands in a panic, her face turning pale as she watched the increasingly strange looks from her classmates and the crowd of onlookers gathering around her. Her strength seemed to gradually disappear from her limbs.

Chapter Sixty-One: Just My Toy

"Look, that girl's bag is full of notebooks."

"So erotic, and all of them are humiliation-themed."

"Is this girl a prostitute? I wonder how much she charges."

"With such a beautiful face, she's worth any price!"
