The Embers of King's Teyvat Journey
Page 142
Looking at Ember, who was looking around, and Lance Sandks, who was idly fidgeting, a feeling of helplessness and exhaustion welled up inside her.
"What are you doing here? I haven't done anything lately. If any of your men have committed any offenses, point them out and take them away!"
The woman's voice was filled with helplessness and resignation; she didn't look like an executive at all, but rather like a doormat.
"Clang!" In the silence, someone's weapon fell to the ground. The woman turned to look and saw her stunned subordinates behind her.
"Hoo—" She took a few deep breaths, trying to calm her shame. The lady no longer cared about saving face; now she just wanted to get rid of this plague, Ember, as quickly as possible.
"Why are you so nervous? Am I some kind of scary person?" Yu Jin pointed to himself, seemingly puzzled by the woman's reaction.
“It’s not scary! So, what is it? Speak quickly!” The woman gritted her teeth and braced herself to continue Yu Jin’s words.
“Alright, don’t be nervous.” Ember waved his hand. He glanced around the hall and roughly estimated that there were several hundred Fools crammed in there.
I never expected that the Goethe Hotel, which usually keeps a low profile, would house hundreds of burly men. That's quite something.
Ember couldn't help but swallow hard. So many health potions! These were all nutrients for the Golden Tree.
Thinking of this, he rubbed his hands together and asked the lady with anticipation, "Ma'am, would you be interested in learning about the free medical check-up?"
Upon hearing this, the woman's lips twitched. She was 100% certain that the "free medical check-up" that Yu Jin mentioned was definitely not something legitimate.
"I'd like to ask, what would happen if I said no?" The woman felt she still needed to put up with it.
"Lance Xunx!"
"Ouch!"
Lance Sanx let out a wolf howl, and then his head transformed into an ancient dragon's head.
The sharply defined rock scales, the dragon's mouth spewing out a smoky aura, and the sharp teeth gleaming with a cold light... all of these exerted immense pressure on everyone present.
"Crack!" Tiny pieces of debris fell from the ceiling and hit Lance Sanx on the head.
"Change back! You've pierced through the ceiling!" Yu Jin looked up and saw that most of Lance Sank's gilded dragon horns had pierced through the ceiling of the hall and reached the second floor.
"Huh? When did this happen? I didn't feel anything at all!" Lance Sanxton panicked immediately. The ceiling was broken? Why didn't she feel anything?
Lance Sanx transformed back into human form. She looked up and saw the two rather conspicuous large holes in the ceiling.
"Oh, it's not my fault. Human buildings are too fragile. Besides, didn't you tell me to reveal my true form, Your Majesty?" Lance Sank scratched his head and then shifted the blame onto Ember.
"If the lady hadn't been so tactless, would I have let you reveal your true form?" Ember declared that he wouldn't take the blame and pinned it on the lady.
The woman glanced around and realized she didn't seem to have anyone to blame, so she could only silently take the blame.
"Well, because of your hesitation, your Fools have incurred another debt. Make a decision quickly before further losses occur!" Ember naturally attributed the losses to the lady.
"Hurry up!" The woman gave up struggling, closed her eyes, and waved to the embers.
The woman felt a profound sense of powerlessness.
"Great!" Ember was so happy he almost jumped for joy. It would be even better if the Fools would cooperate obediently.
If they put up a stubborn resistance, these few hundred people could be quite a problem. After all, even with a few hundred pigs, tying them up and bleeding them is a difficult task.
"Everyone, stand still and line up one by one. Don't push!" Yu Jin moved around the hall, constantly saying something.
The fools in the hall were astonished to discover that anyone who strayed from the main group would be immediately pulled back by a tremendous force.
As everyone looked at the embers that were now just phantoms in the hall, their last remaining will to resist vanished.
There's no way around it; with that kind of strength, if someone wanted to do something to them, they wouldn't have a chance to resist at all.
Looking at the lady with her back to them, the Fools seemed to understand their executor somewhat.
"Alright, the line is all set up, we can begin!" Yu Jin stopped, looking at the neat line in front of him with great satisfaction.
Then he took out a large water vat and a large wooden table, on which was a pile of things that looked like needles.
“This is…” Lance Sanx looked at the conical needles rolling on the table and felt that they looked very familiar.
“It’s the mouthparts of a swamp mosquito,” Ember whispered into Lance Sanx’s ear.
The border region is a land of outstanding people and abundant resources; even the mosquitoes there are enormous. Their wingspan is estimated to be half a person's length.
Their mouthparts are also over ten centimeters long, more than enough to be used as syringes.
Hearing Ember and Lance Sanx's conversation, the woman covered her face in embarrassment. If she could, she would want to escape this place of trouble as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, she couldn't; after all, she was the head of the Mondstadt Fools. And most of the Mondstadt Fools were here.
"Didn't you say it was a medical check-up? Why do you need all this weird stuff?" The woman walked up to Yu Jin and said weakly.
"A physical exam?" Yu Jin turned around. "Never mind that, let's get a blood sample first!"
After saying that, Yu Jin grabbed the woman's arm and inserted a needle.
As the woman watched her blood flow from the dark syringe, her vision went black, and she collapsed to the ground.

"Holy crap, you're trying to scam me!" When Yu Jin saw the woman collapse to the ground, his first thought was that she was trying to extort money from him.
The woman fainted right after the blood was drawn. Yu Jin simply couldn't believe that an executive officer would be so weak.
It's impossible that it's a problem with the mouthparts. The items taken out of the embers' body were all sterilized at high temperatures, so there couldn't be any toxins or anything like that.
Therefore, in conclusion, the woman is definitely trying to extort him!
"Trying to extort me? You're still a ways off!" Yu Jin looked at the woman with her eyes closed, squatted down without saying a word, and started pinching her philtrum.
"Hiss—" The woman was awakened by a sharp pain on her lips. Then she saw Ember crouching beside her.
"What did you do to me?" The woman covered her mouth and rolled to her feet. She carefully sensed the changes in her body—she was afraid that Ember had done something to her body again.
"You look so weak, you fainted just from a blood test. Let me give you some first aid." As Yu Jin spoke, he pulled out a dressing mirror, which reflected the woman's face.
The woman looked at her swollen upper lip. She felt like crying. Why had she gone to Yu Jin's side? Wouldn't it have been better to just wait for him to finish his business and leave?
"Just a blood test?" The woman sensed for a while and found that everything in her body was actually normal, which she found hard to believe.
"Really? Isn't it common sense that a physical exam requires a blood test?" Yu Jin nodded seriously, completely unaware of the woman's strange gaze.
"Do they really need to draw this much blood?!" the woman screamed inwardly as she looked at the thin layer of bright red blood in the tank.
Although she has never had a physical examination, anyone with a brain knows that the blood drawn during a physical examination cannot possibly be this much!
"Don't look at me like that. My diagnosis is very accurate, so it's understandable that I drew a little more blood, right?" Yu Jin seemed annoyed by the woman's glare and explained casually.
"I can tell you're not in good health. You've been staying up too late. And you keep getting burned. Be careful in the future!" Yu Jin glanced at the blood in the water vat and gave his diagnosis in a very logical manner.
The woman's expression changed slightly upon hearing Yu Jin's words. To some extent, Yu Jin was right. Could it be that he really came here for a medical check-up out of kindness?
Thinking this, the woman took a few steps back. She wanted to observe further before drawing conclusions.
Seeing the woman back down, Yu Jin nodded in satisfaction. Patient cooperation, doctor's happiness—a win-win situation!
Although he was neither a doctor nor the woman a patient.
"Come on, everyone! Come on over here! Can't you see that your executive officers are setting a good example? What are you all standing there for?!"
When Ember saw the Fools behind the lady looking dazed, he shouted.
The Fools remained still, watching the lady silently, awaiting her instructions. She sighed again and then nodded.
The group began to move, and the blood in the water tank started to increase. However, Ember's mood did not improve.
"What? Are you a mutated water slime? There's so much water elemental power in your blood?" Ember asked in surprise, looking at the incredibly fat Fatui Water Guard in front of him.
"What? So that's how it is! No wonder I always have drool in my mouth when I wake up!" Mizutsuhiro Shigeo scratched the back of his head and suddenly realized.
"That's not a problem with the water element, it's your own problem," Yu Jin pointed out.
"Doctor, what should I do?" Mizutsu Shigeo asked anxiously. Actually, the inability to stop drooling was a minor problem; the real problem was that he had been experiencing a strange feeling of suffocation lately, as if he had fallen into the water.
This is a problem unique to the Water Guard unit. Based on past experience, he either retires to his hometown or drowns silently in his sleep.
I heard there's a solution, but the cost is unbearable for a lowly soldier like him.
"Here! Take this. Hold it while you sleep every day, and when it stops getting hot, you'll be fine." Yu Jin took out a warm stone and handed it to Shui Tong Chong Wei.
"Oh, right, don't do this kind of work after you get better, or it will get worse." Yu Jin seemed to remember something and reminded him.
"Thank you... thank you, doctor!" Mizuto Shigeobu held the warm stone in his palm as if it were a precious treasure, expressing his deepest gratitude.
"Alright, alright, let's go! There are still people behind us!" With a wave of his hand, Yu Jin understood and pulled the Water Guard away.
"Give me your hand." Ember burned the used mouthparts and took out a new one.
Then a trembling, delicate hand reached out.
Ember then raised his head to look at the newcomer. A deep purple cloak, a mask covering half of his face, and a lantern shimmering with a faint purple light at his waist—who else could it be but a Thunderfire sorcerer?
"Hello, Doctor." Lei Ying, the sorcerer, greeted Yu Jin as he looked at her.
Doctors are respected everywhere, not to mention this doctor who is not only highly skilled but also doesn't charge fees.
Lei Ying, the sorcerer, thought of her colleagues who had walked past her earlier, their tone still carrying the youthful vigor unique to new recruits.
The Fatui's technology is very advanced, allowing each soldier to fight using elemental power. However, elemental corruption has always been a problem.
The Fools had no good solutions in this regard. Those herbs that could absorb elements were priceless treasures, and the Fools neither could nor had the resources to provide such items to every soldier.
Of course, there is another way—that is to become the owner of the Eye of God. Once you possess the Eye of God, the corruption of elements will no longer be a problem, and you can even use the Evil Eye without worry.
The Eye of God, the one watched over by the gods, is also the true protagonist of this world.
However, this method has an even lower success rate than the previous one, so most of the Fools' soldiers either end up receiving their pensions and returning to winter with hidden injuries to spend the rest of their lives, or they die in battle and from the erosion of the elements.
“You’re not good.” Yu Jin grabbed Lei Ying’s wrist. Her arm was covered in a layer of dead skin that made one’s scalp crawl, like fish scales standing up.
The mouthparts were inserted, and a trickle of blood flowed from them. The blood was thin and its color was closer to pink than bright red.
Upon seeing this, the embers withdrew their mouthparts and stopped bleeding.
"Doctor, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing, I'm afraid you'll die from exhaustion if I bleed you any more." Yu Jin looked at the evil eye on Lei Ying's waist and reached out to take a look.
"Wait! Don't touch this!" Upon seeing Yu Jin's movement, Lei Ying immediately took a step back and covered the Evil Eye at her waist with her hand.
Her speed was so fast that it's hard to imagine that her outstretched hand was still trembling.
