"As for what the bottom line is, I believe you understand." The Sustainer gave Yu Jin a meaningful look before stepping into the spatial rift and disappearing without a trace.

Yu Jin stared at the now-silent path for a long time before finally managing to stammer, "I can't get there!"

However, no one was destined to hear these words, because he had just felt the gaze that had been watching him disappear.

Tenri and her four shadows got busy.

"Sigh, this is really troublesome," Yu Jin sighed. He just did whatever came to mind and didn't care about any taboos at all.

Even the "wear and tear" was just something he thought was damage to his soul caused by the passage of time. How could that be considered taboo?

Never mind, if the world's administrators come looking for him again, he can just release Yousui.

Thinking of this, Yu Jin felt relieved again. The world was still vast, and there were still many places he hadn't been to. Why think so much?

Springvale wasn't far from Mondstadt, and even though Ember deliberately slowed his pace, the night was still thick when he returned to Mondstadt.

This was the first time he had ever seen Mondstadt so silent, and Ember felt a playful urge. He began to leap across the rooftops like a wildcat, admiring the city before him.

While enjoying the scenery, you can also deal with the sins committed in the dead of night.

Ember strolled casually through a side alley. Suddenly, he felt a strong gust of wind blowing through the gaps in his armor.

"Clang!" A slender leg wrapped in black stockings kicked towards Yu Jin. Since it wasn't a vital spot, Yu Jin didn't dodge.

"Hmm?" Rosalia frowned, feeling that her attack had no effect.

Seeing that this person's movements were strange, his clothes were peculiar, and he appeared in a secluded alley in the middle of the night, he thought of his duty and decided to give it a try.

But to my surprise, this strange guy without the Eye of God was not simple at all. He didn't budge an inch when I kicked him, as if he were a rock.

At that moment, Ember also saw Rosalia's figure in the darkness. Although he couldn't see her face clearly, Ember could vaguely make out that she was wearing a nun's habit, and immediately started to complain:

"I'm not saying this out loud, but are all the nuns in the Church of the West Wind this fierce? They just kick you right off the bat. How could an ordinary person withstand that?"

[But you're not an ordinary person either!] Rosalind thought to herself before quickly leaving.

She had just deduced from Yu Jin's words that he wasn't a bad person, and seeing how energetic he was, she knew it was all a misunderstanding. To avoid embarrassment, she simply ran away.

"Sir, please don't dress so strangely in the future, in strange places, and at strange times. People will misunderstand."

Rosalia uttered those words and then disappeared into the night.

"I'm going to report this to the Church of the West Wind!" Ember was furious when he heard Rosalia say that his clothes were strange.

Chapter 30 Wendy the Bard

2023-08-28

A new day, new things.

The first thing Ember did upon waking up today was to go to the Church of the West Wind to report that nuns were assaulting people!

The Church of Favonius is affiliated with the Knights of Favonius and enjoys extremely high prestige in Mondstadt. This is not only because the Church of Favonius is a center of faith in the wind god, but also because the Church of Favonius serves as the hospital.

The Church of the West Wind is always packed with people. Of course, the main church, which serves as a place of prayer, is much better.

When Yu Jin arrived at the Wind God Square, he was greeted by a bustling crowd.

However, a significant portion of the visitors came to the Wind God Plaza for leisure. Even so, people continued to flock to the side entrances seeking treatment.

But Yu Jin wasn't there to treat illnesses, so he went straight in through the main entrance.

Upon entering the church, the gleaming, spotless floor immediately caught Ember's eye. He lifted his foot, and sure enough, a large black footprint appeared on the floor.

This caused Yu Jin's momentum to weaken somewhat before he even got off to a successful start. However, no one in the cathedral paid any attention to him; the huge cathedral was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

The church features massive stone pillars, large windows that let in dappled light, and an extremely high dome, giving it a solemn and dignified feel.

Ember had visited this church twice before, and both times it met a bad end: one was demolished and the other was burned.

"What is there about Barbatos that you worship? You won't even show your face... Ah—, I'm so sleepy." A weak voice came from beside Ember's ear.

Yu Jin turned his head and saw a masked man standing weakly on a stone pillar. He had fallen asleep before he could finish speaking.

"Fools!" Ember immediately ran over, his tone unfriendly, and asked, "What are you doing?"

Victor was startled when he saw a tin can appear before him. However, seemingly remembering his place, he regained his composure and said:

"What are you doing? Of course, you're destroying the faith of the wind god Barbatos!"

Ember thought about how he had dozed off earlier and couldn't help but ask curiously, "You're just going to destroy the faith in the Wind God like that?"

“What do you mean by ‘like this’? It’s tiring to repeat the same lines to every person you meet,” Victor argued.

“I don’t think it’s going to work.” Yu Jin pondered for a moment and realized that it would be difficult for him to achieve his goal this way.

"I know." Victor said nonchalantly. Taking a break every day, ah, it's quite comfortable.

Yu Jin gave him a meaningful look. He had thought that the Fools were all cunning and wicked people, but he didn't expect there to be a slacker like Victor among them.

But that makes sense. Once an organization gets big, no matter what the initial goal was, there will always be a few exceptions.

"Alright, then you can continue to undermine the faith of the Wind God." Ember only chatted briefly before parting ways with him.

As the embers walked into the church, they saw that in addition to the worshippers, there were also some nuns sitting on benches, praying intently.

He glanced around and found that none of the nuns seemed to match the figure that had attacked him the night before.

Seeing everyone in the church so focused, Yu Jin thought for a moment and then went outside. After all, he hadn't been injured last night, and the nun hadn't intended to kill him. He could just beat her up whenever he saw her again.

Stepping out of the Church of the West Wind, the area immediately became noisy. Many Mondstadt residents were strolling in front of the Aeolus Square, making it just as lively as the Mondstadt square below.

However, unlike Mondstadt, there are no numerous shops and stalls here; instead, there are many bards.

The bards chanted poems that were of dubious authenticity, and these chants complemented each other, weaving together the song of the wind.

Ember leaned against a stone pillar, silently gazing at the enormous wind god statue before him. It seemed that this Barbatos was quite skilled.

After admiring them for a while, Ember prepared to leave, because he found that the poems seemed somewhat repetitive, which explained why bards had a poor reputation in Mondstadt.

What kind of bard is someone who only knows one poem?!

Yu Jin looked at the "poets" in the square and began to silently complain.

"Hey, what do you think of Mondstadt, you strange stranger?" A boy with a blue whip, a green beret, a lotus-leaf-trimmed cloak, and white tights greeted Ember with a smile.

Although the boy appeared androgynous, Ember immediately recognized him as a boy—because he had met Michaela.

Ember glanced at the boy, then at the enormous wind god statue in the distance. Good heavens! The wind god has shrunk!

He pointed at Wendy, about to call the nuns of the Church of the West Wind, but Wendy suddenly rushed forward and covered his mouth, whispering:

Shh—it's a secret, I'm Wendy now!

"Oh, you can let go now. Covering the helmet won't help. If I wanted to scream, I would have already." Wendy's hand was still covering the mouth of the Ember helmet, but it had no effect whatsoever.

"Huh? Sorry." Wendy heard Ember's voice coming from inside the helmet and realized that his actions were a bit like burying his head in the sand, so he scratched his head awkwardly.

“It’s okay, Mondstadt is fine.” Ember then answered Wendy’s initial question.

Wendy was delighted by Ember's praise. "Hehe, right? I think so too, especially the wine from Mondstadt, it's truly a rare find!"

"You're making my mouth water! Let's go to Angel's Gift for a drink!" With that, Wendy grabbed Ember and ran towards Angel's Gift.

"I don't drink alcohol!"

"Come on, you'll like it once you try it."

Despite Ember's objections, Wendy insisted on pulling him into the angel's gift.

As you open the tavern's door, warm lighting fills the entire space. Even before drinking, you feel a pleasant buzz.

As the best tavern in Mondstadt, many people come here to enjoy the wine, so the atmosphere is less noisy and more pleasant.

This might be why Wendy likes to come here. He doesn't like it to be too noisy when he's drinking.

"Welcome." Bartender Charles looked up at the newcomer, then his eyes showed surprise.

"I didn't expect it to be Mr. Yu Jin. Please have a seat."

"Huh? Do we know each other?" Ember looked at Charles, realizing he had never been here before and therefore had never met Charles.

“The master instructed that if you come here, you should be given special consideration,” Charles explained.

"Master?" Yu Jin began to filter through the wealthy people he knew in his mind.

"Is it Diluc?" Ember was a little unsure, as he seemed to have said that the Angel's Gift was his property.

“Indeed, Mr. Ember, it’s rare for you to come all this way, so let’s treat you to drinks today.” Charles said with a smile as he watched Ember staring at the drink menu.

"Um... thank you." Yu Jin didn't refuse. He had just looked at the wine list and found it to be a bit pricey.

"Hey, my dear friend, it's your turn to treat me this time!" Wendy's eyes lit up, and she immediately jumped up and hugged Ember's neck.

Unfortunately, even when Wendy jumped up, he couldn't wrap his arms around Ember's neck, so he had no choice but to put his arms around Ember's waist.

"Heh, what cheap friendship." Ember didn't reject Wendy. On the contrary, he became quite interested in this unreliable wind god.

The two, like long-lost friends, hugged and sat down at an empty table.

Ember simply ordered a drink, but Wendy across from him was a different story. He stared at the drink menu like a starving wolf, his eyes practically glowing green.

What? Wendy's eyes are naturally green? Oh well, it doesn't matter. She's just very thirsty anyway.

Soon, Wendy ordered a whole host of drinks that dazzled Ember. It was truly an eye-opener for Ember; he had no idea that alcohol could be paired with so many different things.

"Ah! This is so satisfying. I haven't felt this good in a long time." Wendy picked up a glass of colorful liquor, took a sip, and exclaimed.

"Tell me, why did you come all the way to the Cathedral of the West Wind? Is there some trouble you want to confide in the Wind God?"

“Tell me, I’ll definitely help my best friend out of trouble!” Wendy patted his chest. He was happy today that he could allow someone to trouble him.

"I was inexplicably beaten by your nun last night!" Ember said indignantly.

"Hey! What do you mean by 'my nun'? Don't say such misleading things!" Wendy corrected.

However, Ember paid no attention. He pointed at a woman and shouted, "That's her! The violent nun!"

"What a weird nickname!" Wendy exclaimed.
