Could this be the legendary "aid from a friend"?

"Help you my foot!" Yuan Shang gasped for breath, looked up at the two enormous dragon lizards, jumped up, and tapped one of them on the knee.

"Take your companions and leave this place! Don't get entangled with humans!"

"Friend, are you asking me to spare the humans?" The purple dragon lizard tilted its head and asked Yuan Shang with a puzzled look.

“Pretty much. Shouldn’t you be looking for the dragon now? There’s no need to waste time here.” Yuan Shang nodded and played his trump card, “Finding the Dragon.”

Unfortunately, the giant lizard wasn't having any of it. It shook its head, then clenched its claws and said angrily, "That used to work, but not now!"

"Why?" Yuan Shang was taken aback, not understanding why. Wasn't finding the Dragon King something the dragon lizards had always longed for?

"Because of this!" The two large dragon lizards were clearly enraged, and they turned around, revealing their hedgehog-like backs.

"Those despicable humans are targeting me!" the two giant lizards said angrily, pulling the arrows from their backs.

Why target only these two when there are so many lizards attacking together? Are they looking down on the other lizards?

"This..." Yuan Shang was speechless for a moment, because he felt that what humans did was actually not wrong.

The principle of "capture the king first" is something even he understands, let alone humans.

Unfortunately, the dragon lizards didn't realize that humans were showing contempt for them. Otherwise, how could they explain attacking only the leader and not the others when they were all causing trouble together?

"Forget all that nonsense. If you don't leave now, you'll all die when human reinforcements arrive!"

Yuan Shang spoke with a heavy tone; he wasn't trying to fool the dragon lizard. Humans have always been the protagonists of the world, a fact even the Abyss Order had to acknowledge.

While thousands of dragon lizards are certainly very powerful and capable of biting off a piece of flesh from a human, what would be the price?

To bite off a piece of human flesh and then be trampled to death by humans? It doesn't seem worth it at all.

"Huh? Death? What's that?" The dragon lizards looked up at the abyss, their eyes filled with confusion.

"Yeah, what is death? I've never heard of it."

"It's as if humans and other things are considered dead when they stop moving."

"To remain still is to die? Then I die all the time."

The dragon lizards' discussion about "death" suddenly became heated.

Seeing the dragon lizard showing no fear whatsoever, Yuan Shang finally realized what was happening.

The dragon lizards seem to be even more fearless than the Abyss Order.

Chapter 553 Looking for someone

2024-03-18

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The dragon lizards were launching countless elemental missiles into the sky, and those colorful orbs of light exploded between the cliffs, on the highlands, and on the ground.

Explosions echoed incessantly, and the chaotic elemental forces made it difficult to breathe. Intermittently, numerous specks of light, shimmering with various colors, would fall from the sky.

This is an alchemical potion made by humans, but it is more unstable, which is why it can be used as a bomb.

The dragon lizards screamed and ran around in all directions as they were bombarded by the elemental bombs.

Yuan Shang walked aimlessly, his head bowed and his eyes vacant. He picked at his ear, finding the surroundings incredibly noisy.

Before they knew it, the surroundings had become much quieter. Yuan Shang squatted down on the ground, the flames on his body burning away the last remaining vegetation.

"These guys... I don't know what to do." Yuan Shang looked into the distance, where the dragon lizards were still full of life, and the occasional counterattacks from humans seemed to have no effect on them.

However, Yuan Shang knew very well that these guys would be wiped out by humans sooner or later; it was just a matter of time.

"Yuanyou, what do you think I can do now?" Yuan Shang looked at Yuanyou behind him and asked subconsciously.

Of the four of them, Yuan You was the smartest.

"Don't be sad for them. They don't have a concept of death anyway." Yuanyou couldn't think of any better ideas, so it could only comfort Yuanshang in this way.

"Sigh—they don't know death, but I do. They've been with me in the Abyss Palace for so long, and I'm not willing to watch them go to their deaths!"

Yuan Shang sighed and stood up from the ground.

"What are you going to do?" Yuan You and the others watched Yuan Shang's actions, afraid that he would act impulsively.

"What are you doing?" Yuan Shang paused for a moment, then pulled out a huge club from the void.

"Of course we should save them! Knock out a few, and we'll save a few!" General Yuan brandished his club with fierce power.

Since neither humans nor dragon lizards can be relied upon, Yuan Shang can only rely on his own strength to save the dragon lizards!

Whether they agree or not, just throw them underground! No matter how bad they are, it's better than them all being killed by humans!

After making up his mind, Yuan Shang began looking for a target.

"I inexplicably thought of someone."

"I bet we're thinking about the same person."

Two distinctly different yet somewhat familiar female voices came from Yuan You, startling the group on Yuan Shang.

"Stop looking. I'm here." Yuan Shang felt someone pat his shoulder. He turned around and saw Ying jumping up.

"It's you?!"

"it is me."

Ying and Paimon stared at the stick in Yuan Shang's hand, their deadpan eyes instantly appearing on their faces.

Yuan Shang is a quick learner; he even learned one of Yu Jin's "special skills".

"When did you become so strong?" Yuan Shang looked down at Ying, who was only up to his waist, with disbelief on his face.

How long has it been? Ying's strength has increased to the point that he can no longer even see her shadow.

"You're not bad either," Ying said modestly, waving her hand, though her little nose was practically pointing to the sky.

"Enough with the nonsense, so many giant lizards...did you guys create this?!" Paimon pointed to the dragon lizards fighting fiercely in the distance and questioned them.

"If I had caused this, would I have gone back to knock them out?" Yuan Shang waved the stick in his hand, causing Paimon to retreat behind Ying in fear.

If she were hit with that big stick, she wouldn't be able to take it.

“I bet you don’t have the guts!” Paimon said smugly, craning his neck as he huddled behind Ying.

"What a coincidence! Since you're so strong, you must be able to speak well among humans, right?"

Yuan Shang withdrew the stick from his hand, his scarlet eyes fixed on Ying.

You have to understand that although Yuan Shang doesn't like fighting and killing, he is still an Abyss Singer and a true backbone of the Abyss Order.

Judging from Ying's performance just now, she's probably been here for quite some time. The fact that I didn't even notice her shows just how powerful Ying is.

"Ha...haha, this..." Ying scratched her cheek awkwardly. If she were in Liyue or Mondstadt, she might be able to say a few words based on her experience of running around doing chores.

But as for Inatsume... she and Paimon only spent two days at the festival before Inatsume returned to normal, and they didn't even have time to do anything!

Speak? On what grounds? On what grounds? On their status as illegal immigrants, like Paimon?

"No way? How did you manage to pull this off? Is all that strength fake?" Yuan Shang saw Ying's evasive eyes and knew that his plan to use Ying to say a few words to the human community had failed.

"That's not how it works. Human society is very complex. Fighting and killing won't make a difference."

"Yes! Fighting and killing, that's what you monsters like to do!"

Paimon immediately agreed with Luminous, finding her words quite reasonable. If humanity were all about fighting and killing, then she would probably be even lower in status than a slime.

"That seems to make some sense." Yuan Shang was successfully lured into Ying's trap, and he nodded thoughtfully.

Humans are numerous and have diverse purposes, so they cannot be simply understood.

"That being said, if I try hard enough, I might be able to say a few words to the important people here."

"So, is there anything you want to tell me?" Ying changed the subject and agreed to Yuan Shang's request.

Strength is not everything, but it is certainly the most important factor. Ying's strength is undeniable and cannot be ignored by anyone.

If Ying wanted to, it would be quite easy for her to meet with Inazuma's superiors a few times.

"Don't speak halfway; you might get beaten to death one day." Yuan Shang quipped to Ying, then pointed to the colorful lights in the distance and said:

"Do you see that dragon lizard over there?"

“We saw them, a very fierce group.” Ying and Paimon nodded.

They had originally planned to wander around Haiqi Island for a few days, but the commotion here was so great that they were drawn to it.

"Could you send a message to the humans and ask them to give the extermination of these dragon lizards a little more time?"

Ying looked at the cratered cliffs and then at the devastated land. The surging elemental energy reshaped the ground, and the remaining vegetation was blown away.

"..."

"I don't think I have that much face." Ying took a few steps back and quickly shook her head.

This level of conflict can already be described as a new war, and one between humans and different species.

Ying felt that as an outsider, she thought she was overestimating her own importance by trying to influence the judgment of Inazuma's senior management with just a few words.

"So you just want to watch your humanity suffer heavy losses?" Yuan Shang said angrily, his eyes wide.

He now realized that the Deep Sin Baptist's move was going to be difficult to handle. In a clash between humans and dragon lizards, regardless of the outcome, the victor would undoubtedly suffer heavy losses.

However, if the gods here were to personally intervene, it would play right into the hands of the Baptists of Deep Sin. The Abyss would not stand idly by after the Baptists of Deep Sin had caused such a commotion.

Its real oversight was probably that it didn't realize it was a double agent.

But how can this be called a traitor? Yuan Shang glanced at the Intiwatt on Ying's hair. He was trying to leave a good impression on the future "Princess"—that's how Yuan Shang convinced himself.

"Hiss, now that you mention it..." Ying suddenly felt things were getting tricky, based on her experience of wandering around as an illegal immigrant for so long during the time of the closed-door policy...

The dragon lizards could take down the shogunate soldiers with ease, if not one kick at a time.

Fuchigami and Hikari were suddenly caught in a dilemma. But just as the two were deep in the quagmire of "thinking," Paimon spoke.

"I remember Ember was in Inazuma. Why don't you go find him?"

The quagmire disappeared in an instant, and only then did Yuan Shang realize that the Baptist of Deep Sin had not simply overlooked something, but was simply unable to calculate it at all.

After all, if even the problem has been erased, what can be plotted against?
