The Embers of King's Teyvat Journey

The streets were teeming with people, but they were all utterly panicked. The distant sky was stained red, and the expanding darkness and the sudden appearance of cubes in the void instantly engulfed the space.
"Red, squares, and pitch black... what was that just now?"
The man frowned. He could feel that everything about him had completely changed from this moment on.
"You saw the cubes too?" someone exclaimed upon hearing a scene that resembled their own memory.
"Does everyone remember this scene? I think I even saw winged creatures in the sky at the end," someone else chimed in.
Without any prompting, the newly awakened survivors of Kanria, upon discussion, discovered that their last impressions of Kanria were remarkably consistent.
The sky was dyed red, blocks bulged out of the void, and monsters raged from all directions.
"It seems your memories are stuck at that moment five hundred years ago." Kong nodded to the crowd. Memories of the Hilichurls are usually hazy, unless something unforgettable has happened. The Hilichurls of these people seem to have had rather uneventful lives.
Five hundred years ago?
"Yes, that is, the moment when Kanria was destroyed."

"Kanria, destroyed?" Upon hearing Kong's words, the faces of everyone present were stunned.
“That’s right, the country that once stretched across the earth has now turned to dust.” Seeing that everyone found it hard to believe, Kong emphasized it again.
"No... that's impossible, isn't it? Kanria is so powerful, even if the seven nations joined forces, they couldn't possibly erase it from the map."
Some people still couldn't believe it. They recalled the immense power of Kanria in their memories. It was a kingdom without gods, yet its strength surpassed that of any kingdom with gods!
This is undoubtedly the greatest pride of a person who has no God in his heart, but now Kong says that this pride has been defeated. How can anyone believe it?
"The Seven Kingdoms? They're at best accomplices." Kong shook his head, pointed to the sky, and said in a deep voice:
"It was the gods of Sky Island who made the move. The gods of Sky Island, together with the seven gods on Earth, wiped out Kanria."
"The black cubes in your memory are the power that comes from the sky."
The crowd stopped arguing, because the scene in their memories matched Kong's words so perfectly that they had no choice but to believe it.
"But the gods' atrocities don't stop there. Do you know how you traveled five hundred years into the past to get here?"
The survivors of Kanria present looked at each other and shook their heads. Only after Kong's reminder did they understand the point of doubt.
They are just ordinary people, what merit do they have to transcend five hundred years of time?
Seeing this, Kong knew it was time to move on to the next step. So he raised his hands and clapped them vigorously.
"Clap! Clap! Clap!"
"%@#..."
A lively, strange cry rang out, and led by an Abyss Mage, a line of neatly arranged Hilichurls began to dance joyfully in front of the crowd.
"Great! Wonderful!" someone couldn't help but shout, but this did not affect the Hilichurls' dance moves at all.
"Ya!"
After the dance ended, the group of Hilichurls were thrown all at once near the abyss.
The people in front of them were still immersed in the Hilichurls' "wonderful" performance. After clearing their throats, they continued:
"How does it feel to see the dance moves that your past self is showing to you now?"
These words immediately made everyone feel that something was amiss. After a moment's thought, many people realized what was going on.
"You mean... we... were once Hilichurls too?"
The others asked with bitterness. Only then did they realize that the Hilichurls they had always looked down upon were actually humans in disguise.
This curse, however, descended upon the Kanriyans five hundred years ago.
"That's a good understanding. As the gods have done countless times before, they used a curse to turn the people of Kanria into Hilichurls."
"But what they didn't expect was that Kanria was more resilient than any of the civilizations they destroyed, and even after the curse was cast, many of its people still preserved their power."
"See those 'monsters' around you? They're just Kanriyans, different from the ones cursed by you."
"The method to reawaken you is what they figured out."
He lied without batting an eye, and then went on to introduce the abyssal monsters that had come to visit.
Abyss mages and abyss apostles—these demonic creatures are composed of a very diverse range of elements.
Some are the founding elders of the order, and should rightfully be called "Apostles of Fate"; others are the transformations of early Kanriyan people who received the grace of the abyss to escape the curse...
Of course, the largest number of them are those who awaken on their own from the power of the abyss, accounting for more than 90% of the cult's members.
“That’s absolutely right. They helped me a lot when I first started to establish myself.” Other Kanria people who were watching the commotion chimed in with a few words of agreement.
"So...they really are our companions?" Just like that, without realizing it, the abyssal monsters around them became much more pleasing to the eye.
The Abyss Mage has become much cuter, and the Abyss Apostle has become much more handsome.
"That's right! They are not only companions you can rely on in the future, but also an important asset for the restoration of Kanria!"
He gazed at the sky, his words filled with urgency and longing.
"To restore Kanria, what do we need to do?"
Upon hearing that the Abyss Order's goal was to restore Kanria, everyone was eager to contribute.
The people of Kanria came from all over the world; they were all atheists in their respective countries. Kanria sheltered them, and they fully respected Kanria.
"It's enough that you have this intention. Everything is just starting out. You should rest and recuperate here. Once we've established a firm foothold, that's when you'll be able to make a difference."
He turned his back, uttered a few profound words, and then prepared to leave. Why wouldn't he leave now that these people had already accepted the Abyss Cult?
There's still a huge pile of stuff on the table waiting for him to deal with!
However, just as Kong was about to take a step away, he saw an Abyss Singer rushing over in a flurry.
Upon closer inspection, who else could it be but Yuan Shang?
Seeing that Yuan Shang wasn't carrying any of the newly purified Kanriyans, Kong Xin felt a surge of secret joy.
Could it be that the purification above the abyss has finally stopped?
It's no wonder that Sora thinks that way; Abe's efficiency has been just too high lately.
People were being thrown out of the Abyss Passage in a continuous stream. Who could stand that? At first, Kong thought the Abyss Order could handle it, but he soon realized he was wrong.
As the population grows, the demand increases exponentially. The resources the Abyss Order has swindled and cheated out of human supplies are almost completely depleted.
"What? Have all the Hilichurls in the Deep Rock Abyss been purified?" Kong asked, not even noticing the hint of anticipation in his voice as he looked at the panting Abyss.
"Huh?" Yuan Shang raised his head, then shook his head violently. "Your Highness, it's far from over!"
"Then what are you doing here?" Kong's eyes became alert. He looked at Yuan Shang, and a bad feeling began to linger in his heart.
"I'm here to remind Your Highness that the number of people purified will increase in the coming period!"
Yuan Shang nodded to Kong. Yu Jin had now summoned the remaining Fatui from the Layered Rock Abyss to move the Hilichurls, and their clearing range had gradually expanded from the inside of the Layered Rock Abyss to the outside.
In short, more Hilichurls were carried to the altar.
"What?!" Kong was shocked. The people in the cult were already making things difficult for him. If there were more people, wouldn't it be even more difficult?
"Does Your Highness mean that I should take a break?" Yuan Shang asked, puzzled by Kong's surprise.
Didn't the order say that as many people as there were, everyone should come? It seems that's not the case?
The doubts weren't limited to Yuan Shang; they also included the Kanria survivors behind Kong, who had only recently awakened.
They also saw Sora's performance, and as a result, all sorts of gazes fell on Sora's back.
These gazes were filled with either confusion or suspicion, and many others were not. Kong sensed the various gazes behind him and immediately realized what was happening.
"Cough cough cough! What I mean is... why are there still so few people! Can't there be more?!"
The gaze of the people behind him turned to admiration, but the price was that he had to grit his teeth when he spoke.
"Huh? This is already the fastest speed, it can't go any faster." Yuan Shang saw that Kong was still not satisfied, and immediately shook his head.
This relieved Kong; he was really afraid that Yuan Shang would agree.
"That's settled then! You can continue with your work." Fearing any further accidents, Kong said a few words to Yuan Shang and then disappeared in a flash.
"Why does His Highness seem a little flustered?" Yuan Shang scratched his head and muttered to himself, watching Kong's hurried departure.

Kong stood on the steps, looking down at the cult below. What was once just a relatively open underground plain had now begun to take the shape of a settlement.
Only Kong knew how great the price was. The Abyss Order's camp location was not particular; whichever place could connect to the most teleportation nodes was chosen as the camp.
Therefore, when Kong chose this place as his camp, he did not consider the possibility of it developing into a human settlement.
Now, all the drawbacks are beginning to show. First, it's desolate; even underground plants don't grow here. Second, it's arid; groundwater doesn't circulate at all.
However, none of this was a major problem for the Abyss Order. If there were no plants, they could transplant some; if there were no rivers, they could dig them.
These things were hardly difficult for the Abyss Apostles who controlled elemental forces.
What truly troubled Kong was the scarcity of various resources. The Abyss Order did not have the habit of stockpiling resources; after all, in the past, this organization genuinely did not need any resources at all.
The members don't need to eat or wear anything; all they need is a place to sit and rest.
Therefore, once someone arrived, the cult's recreational reserves were instantly depleted.
Everything in the camp is just beginning, and there is still a long way to go before it can be self-sufficient.
Kong looked down and saw the Abyss Apostles idling in the camp. They had previously been assigned manual labor such as clearing land and removing boulders.
Land is limited, and so are boulders, so they are now idle.
Kong closed his eyes and pondered for a moment, then nodded emphatically. It was time to expand the Abyss Order's operations!
……
As night falls, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the last place in Mondstadt to turn off its lights will once again be the Knights Tower.
