Gwen stared in disbelief at the Iron Man costume.

Has this kind of combat suit really been created?

"Squeak!"

The door was pushed open, and Peter and Gwen entered the room.

Kahn has been assigned to Helen's side.

Phantom Cat was taken back to its home by Little Rascal.

Peter was stunned as soon as he entered the room.

Aunt May was sitting on the sofa watching him.

Although the room was dark and the lights were off, the two people's excellent eyesight allowed them to spot Aunt Mei at a glance.

"Aunt Mei?"

Do you know what time it is?

Aunt May asked Peter and Gwen with dissatisfaction.

Gwen glanced nervously at Peter, unsure how to respond.

After all, the two of them had been skipping classes for several days and hadn't been home all night.

Peter's father knows he is Spider-Woman, but Aunt May and Uncle Ben don't know that Peter is Spider-Man.

She was somewhat worried that Peter's identity would be exposed.

"It's three o'clock in the morning now."

Aunt May stood up from the sofa. "This isn't the first time for either of you. I tried to cover for you by saying you were on a school trip to Boston, but I asked your teachers, and you're not in Boston."

"Peter, and Gwyneth, what have you been up to lately?"

Aunt Mei looked at the two of them with a scrutinizing gaze.

"Gwen, you go upstairs first."

Peter told Gwen to go upstairs first.

"Ok."

Gwen glanced nervously at Peter and gave him a reassuring look in return.

After Gwen went upstairs, Peter explained to Aunt May, “Gwen and I have been working for the Daily Bugle lately, you know, Aunt May. It requires us to shoot some important things all the time, so we’re always on the go.”

"really?"

Aunt May looked at Peter suspiciously, "But I've never heard you or Ben talk about this."

"Uncle Ben probably thinks this isn't a very important matter."

Peter made up a lie to explain to Aunt May.

"is it?"

Aunt May strode over, grabbed Peter's arm, and ripped open the shirt covering his arm.

What we saw were some bluish-purple marks.

“You have to tell me, Peter, where you’ve been. Your uncle has been keeping it from you, and I want to hear it from you yourself. My nephew isn’t the kind of kid who lies all the time.”

Peter looked at Aunt May's determined eyes and was speechless.

He didn't quite know how to tell Aunt Mei.

Seeing that Peter didn't speak, Aunt May sat back down in her chair, covering her forehead. "You weren't like this before, Peter."

Peter walked up to Aunt May, knelt down gently, and took her somewhat cold hands in his. "I just didn't want to make you angry, Aunt May, and I didn't want you and Uncle Ben to worry about me."

Aunt May looked up and gazed into Peter's eyes.

"We don't need lies between us, Peter. What secret are you keeping?"

Aunt May's tone was firm: "I swear to God, if you mess around with those shady friends at school or those gangsters in society, I'll make you pay."

Aunt Mei began to suspect that her nephew had gone astray.

“No, of course not, Aunt May. You know, I don’t have many friends except for Gwen and Harry.”

Peter said he didn't have as many friends as he had imagined.

Aunt Mei sighed deeply, "I've had so many sad things in my life, and now I have to sit at home and have no idea what's going on outside."

“It’s ridiculous. I’m just sitting here like an idiot, Peter, not even knowing which ditch outside you’ve died. It’s like a nightmare to me.”

Peter squeezed Aunt May's hand. "No, Aunt May, it won't happen."

"Do you love me, Peter?"

Aunt May suddenly asked Peter a question.

“I mean not because you’re my nephew or because you live here that you’re grateful to me, but simply because of me as a person. Do you think I’m a good person?”

After a moment's hesitation, Peter replied, "Of course."

Peter moved closer to Aunt May. “Of course you’re a good person, and I love you, Aunt May, not because you’re my aunt, or for any other reason, but simply because of who you are.”

Aunt May said, her voice trembling slightly, "I often worry that I'm not doing enough, and I'm afraid of bothering you or making you uncomfortable. Peter, even though you're not my and Parker's child, we've always treated you like our own."

"I know, I know."

Peter hugged Aunt May and gently comforted her.

He wasn't a heartless person; he could feel the love that Aunt May and Uncle Ben had for him.

"only."

Peter said to Aunt May, "There are some things I need to take care of. Aunt May, I'm destined not to be an ordinary person."

He was just short of telling Aunt May that he was Spider-Man.

However, these things need to be done slowly, and Aunt Mei needs to accept them.

“You are just like your father, Peter.”

Aunt May held Peter's hands, "But being a hero is too tiring, and the price is always too high for people to bear."

She had already guessed what Peter meant.

She had always suspected that Peter was a superhero wandering the streets, but now that Peter had said he couldn't be an ordinary person, she was even more certain of her guess.

“I don’t want to be a hero, I just want to protect you, Uncle Ben, and Gwen.”

He had previously instructed Helen to protect Aunt May and Uncle Ben.

During his absence, he also ensured the safety of both of them.

"You've grown up."

Aunt May reached out and stroked Peter's face. "No matter what, I will be proud of you."

She stood up and said, "I have something to give you."

Aunt May took out a small storage box and handed it to Peter.

The storage box contained some odds and ends and videotapes, which looked to be quite old.

"This is.?"

“This is what I found in the box in the basement, along with some other things. All of these things belong to you.”

Looking at the contents of the box, Aunt Mei said with a sigh, "These things all belong to your father and my dear sister."

As she spoke, Aunt May placed her hand on Peter's shoulder and her other hand on her chest.

“I originally planned to give you these things when you were older, but I think you are already grown up now.”

Aunt May's eyes were filled with tears. "Peter, you will eventually become a man like your father."

In the room, Peter turned on the videotape.

Laughter and cheerful voices immediately filled the dimly lit room.

Peter glanced at the television screen, then got up, walked to the door, and opened it.

Sure enough—Gwen was standing outside, looking at him somewhat awkwardly.

"I'm sorry, Peter, I didn't mean to eavesdrop. I... I just wanted to see if you were alright."

Gwen had just overheard Peter and Aunt May's conversation.

Her nose felt a little sore.

"Of course I know you didn't mean it."

Peter opened the door and gestured for Gwen to come in.

"Otherwise, I wouldn't have opened the door."

He said to Gwen, "Want to see some videos of me when I was a kid?"

Although it was supposed to be from his childhood, after his soul transmigrated into Peter Parker, he had no recollection of these memories belonging to his predecessor.

So he dragged Gwen along to watch it.

Gwen showed great interest in Peter's childhood.

The two sat on the carpet watching a videotape.

All the lights in the room were turned off, and the only sound was the hissing of the videotape spinning inside the machine.

Peter never imagined that this old VCR, which had been sitting idle for years, could still be used.

"Hey Peter, look this way!"

"I wrote an article about emperor penguins at school, Dad."

The television screen showed a scene of camping.

In the bright spring sunshine, the family happily frolicked on the grass.

Peter Parker Jr. excitedly showed off his achievements to his father.

“Wow! But did you know, Peter, that there are 18 different types of penguins?”
