Granger did not lie, nor would he lie about this matter.
Just as the two were lost in their own fantasies, Mrs. Pince suddenly appeared from the bookshelf corridor.
"No eating in the library!" She glanced at Crookshank and the cookie crumbs on Nietzsche's shoulder. "I'll let you off this time, but remember not to do it again next time, or I'll kick you out with a broom!"
“Mrs. Pince?” Granger suddenly looked up, staring blankly at the other woman.
Her eyes gradually reddened, as if she had suffered some great injustice. Nietzsche noticed her change and came to a less than favorable conclusion in his mind.
Mrs. Pince panicked immediately. She looked awkwardly at Granger and then at Nietzsche.
"Um... I just wanted to say something, cough!" He then gave Nietzsche a very strange look.
She wondered, wasn't it that little girl who usually read books with him in the library? Why is it someone else today?
But Mrs. Pince dared not linger there, and hastily left a message saying, "Come find me when you need to borrow books," before going to inspect other areas... What a mess! It made her feel like a criminal.
Granger kept his eyes on her until she turned a corner and disappeared down the corridor before he snapped out of his daze.
“I hope you’re fully prepared before you continue with your own plans,” Nietzsche said silently, popping a licorice stick into his mouth and using it to release the pressure.
In this respect, he is similar to Hermione: it's always good to have a basic plan for whatever you do.
“Don’t worry about it,” Granger said aggressively.
But this one day not only didn't allow her to return home quickly, it also worsened their mood.
Granger, preoccupied with his own thoughts, left the book in Nietzsche's bedroom and then disappeared without a trace; Nietzsche was in an even worse situation, as he now not only had to mediate between Granger and Hermione, but also had to find time to study alchemy.
More importantly, he always felt that he could no longer go back to the way he and Hermione were when they first started playing around!
There are always eyes watching me... Wait, he didn't do anything wrong, why should I be afraid?
However, there was one advantage: perhaps out of guilt or as a bargaining chip, Hermione, who was under the Illusion Charm, would occasionally stand beside Nietzsche during the afternoon runic lessons and point out where he had translated something incorrectly.
If the tone were a little better, it would be perfect.
Because every time she corrected the translation of the runes, she would always say, "That's it? I memorized the whole book back then."
While acting as a teacher, he also incorporates a touch of Professor Binns's unique ghostly voice—he always suddenly speaks out just when he has settled down to think, scaring people half to death.
(Regarding 'Granger', I will write about him in more detail later. As for his romantic relationships, you can rest assured that I won't include any angst-inducing plot points.)
Chapter 159 The Dark Magic Defense Makes its Debut
Granger's knowledge is truly impeccable.
Aside from alchemy and divination, which are niche subjects and not required courses in England, the knowledge related to the compulsory courses at Hogwarts can almost be called a 'walking encyclopedia', and even includes her own personal insights.
In later alchemy classes, Granger was even able to help him take notes—though from other people's perspectives, Nietzsche appeared to be manipulating a magic quill pen.
But Wednesday morning was the most exciting.
“What are they celebrating?” Granger sat at the table, tugging at his arm and pointing towards the food he needed.
Early in the morning, she could see that these Slytherins were more excited than anyone else. Even when the Gryffindors next door were still yawning, they were already shouting and discussing the dark magic they were good at.
Nietzsche didn't know how to reply, so he could only wrap the soft bread in oil paper and turn his head to ask the others.
He repeated Granger's question to Theodore beside him.
"I heard that the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is from Durmstrang..." Theodore chuckled. "That place is famous for producing masters of the Dark Arts."
Although they learned some skills at the Duel Club, because of Hermione, they had very little practice with most of the dark magic, since they didn't know the Ironclad Charm and didn't have a proper protective mechanism.
But now that there's a new professor, they can start practicing their specialty, dark magic, without any restraint.
Nietzsche glanced at the invisible Granger, raised his eyebrows, as if to say: That's how it is.
As they rushed to the classroom, Granger finally couldn't hold back any longer.
“Professor Lupin couldn’t possibly be a master of dark magic!” She scratched her head frantically, utterly bewildered. “He certainly couldn’t be a Durmstrang graduate; he met him at Hogwarts…”
"Who do you know?" Nietzsche noticed that she suddenly stopped.
Granger was captivated by the smiling faces of Narcissus and Leterlin surrounding Nietzsche.
In the river formed by the young wizards, she was like a piece of driftwood, being carried forward. In that instant, Granger was not someone from another parallel universe, but one of the students.
Granger raised her hands above her head, turned sideways, and pressed herself against the stone wall until everyone had entered the classroom before she came to her senses.
“It’s nothing…” She had never forgotten Hogwarts.
The classroom was still the same classroom, with everyone sitting inside holding books and talking to each other, while a huge old wardrobe stood on the teacher's desk.
Granger stood behind Nietzsche and saw the wardrobe handle being twisted frantically, while the white-haired old professor, whom the students called 'Grendel,' was bracing himself against the wardrobe with one hand.
It seemed like there was some ferocious animal inside, and the students were worried that the old professor would be hit and thrown into the air.
“Why did you bring books?” Grindelwald said. “Put all your paper and pens away. Now, all you need is your wands. Professor Lupin and I agree that practice is what you need.”
“Boggart…” Granger murmured to himself.
"what is that."
"A creature that can see through people's hearts and is born with the ability to steal minds and thoughts."
This piqued Nietzsche's interest.
They had taken practical lessons before, but last year they were taught by Nietzsche and Hermione, along with Professor Lockhart who led the group into the Forbidden Forest, and the time they ended up shouting encouragement from inside a flying car.
Grindelwald suddenly looked in Nietzsche's direction and shouted, "Alright, everyone sit down and wait. Professor Lupin should have just woken up."
Nietzsche thought her Disillusionment Charm was comparable to the Invisibility Cloak and the Invisible Beast, but the professor saw through it at a glance—it seems Dumbledore's 'old friend' is truly genuine.
Nietzsche looked up at Granger, who was still reminiscing about the beautiful past.
"You've been discovered."
So Granger, eyes wide and panting, pushed Nietzsche against the wall and quickly sat down.
She said doubtfully, "Are you sure? He didn't even look at me."
“When he spoke, he deliberately emphasized the ‘S’ syllable,” Nietzsche explained in a low voice. “Although he wasn’t staring at you, he was reminding me that you followed me in!”
This has left Granger completely bewildered.
go?
If she left now, she wasn't sure if 'Grendel,' who was explaining the nature of dark magic to the wizards, would make a move. So she could only sit bored in her chair, observing this group of Slytherins who weren't quite Slytherins.
Nietzsche took out the bread he had prepared that morning and pushed it towards her with his arm.
"Gryffindor flavored, without Snape's special poison."
As the 'madwoman' pinched the oil paper with her fingertips and peeled it off silently, she would deliberately make a disgusting remark.
Professor Lu Ping finally arrived.
He wore a faint smile and nodded to the young wizards who were looking over. His clothes were tattered and ragged, but there was no odor. His whole body was etched with the word 'poverty'.
"Don't worry, there's only one scary Boggart inside." The professor's first action was to reassure the student.
Two professors teaching the same class at the same time is something that has never happened before.
However, Draco's attention was focused on Grindelwald. Perhaps in his mind, if he were sent to Durmstrang by his father, he could become as elegant and powerful as the old professor.
"After discussion, Professor Glendale and I agreed that you should prepare your basic defense before you learn how to attack."
Offense is the best defense.
That's right, but there's a premise to this statement—that is, the traditional defense is already perfect, and the offense is most cost-effective under this condition.
“You will learn to deal with all kinds of dark creatures and black magic counterspells, and temper your minds!” Grindelwald slammed his hand on the cabinet, focusing his gaze. “And the Boggart can elicit a person’s deepest fears…”
Here comes the point.
Grindelwald clearly intended to do more than just teach his students how to counter spells; he wanted to maximize the potential of the Boggarts.
“I learned something before I came to the school… You not only have to control your inner fears and defeat the Boggarts, but you also have to learn to hide your emotions, understand the Boggarts’ operating logic, and write a paper on it for me.”
Now everyone hesitated; no one was willing to be the first volunteer to provide laughs.
But Lupin didn't give them time to consider or nominate anyone. Instead, he randomly picked up the list... The little snakes, who never prayed to gods or Buddhas, all started making the sign of the cross on their shoulders and chanting Merlin's name.
"The first person---Brace Sabini."
Please welcome the first victim~
Blaise's face was expressionless because his skin was very dark...
“Don’t tell us what you’re most afraid of, it’ll be revealed soon enough anyway.” Grindelwald’s smile was wicked. “Remember, the knockback spell is a ‘funny spell,’ so when you use it, remember to recall some funny things.”
Use a happy mood to stimulate your thinking.
It turns something that is supposed to be scary into something fun and funny. In Muggle terms, it turns a horror movie into a nonsensical comedy horror movie.
Blaise Sabini could only walk forward from his seat, while the two professors stepped back to the walls on either side, leaving a spacious platform. Blaise swallowed hard and glanced back at the remaining people.
"Three, two..." Lupin began to count down, "One!"
Grindelwald crossed his arms, snapped his fingers, and the wardrobe door on the podium suddenly opened.
Even Granger put down his breakfast and watched the spectacle with curiosity—a woman dressed as a servant emerged from the wardrobe, covered in dust, holding a feather duster in her left hand and a deflated purse in her right.
This is Blaise's fear.
He feared that he would become poor overnight, and that his 'poison widow' who frequented the rich would become an ordinary maid.
“Slippery—funny—funny, funny!” Blaise raised his hand and shouted sharply.
A crack of a whip echoed through the classroom, and the lady staggered backward, tearing off her maid's outfit with both hands to reveal a magnificent gown and a diamond-encrusted necklace underneath.
She pointed at Blaise and laughed loudly, "You actually believed it... Haha! Darling, you've been tricked by me."
"Next up, Daphne Greengrass!"
The girl didn't step out of Draco's group for the first time; she walked forward with her neck slightly raised.
Nietzsche saw the 'Madame Sabini' staring at him, then she disappeared, replaced by the blood-stained corpse of a girl.
The girl was Astoria, a freshman this year and Daphne's younger sister.
“Hilarious! Hilarious!” she roared.
