“Alright, I will give Peter and Black, along with these two memories, to Fudge…” Dumbledore said.
"Can I go see Harry now?" Black didn't feel joy at being exonerated; instead, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“Not yet. You have to wait until Peter’s trial is over and your criminal status is cleared by the Ministry of Magic,” Dumbledore coaxed. “That way, you can greet him in the best possible condition.”
Black is still reported in the newspapers as a murderer, and if Harry goes out now, he will have an extra layer of unnecessary trouble.
Nietzsche glanced at his dean and noticed that after using some unknown magic to interrogate Peter Pettigrew's head, he was still glaring at Black with hatred. Clearly, things were far from over.
Or rather... this is just the beginning...
“A normal person? I don’t think so,” Snape said somberly.
“It’s all over, Severus.” Professor McGonagall looked at him questioningly. “If it’s because of that stupid thing you did back then, it shouldn’t have come to this…”
"That's the problem! You, you, and you! You're always like this, indulging your own college and your chosen 'good students' without any limits. I finally understand... she was killed by you!"
Snape went mad, and he unleashed his hatred on everyone in the room except Nietzsche.
The birchwood wand was pointed at Dumbledore, who was protecting Black behind him, and rudely interrupted McGonagall. In the dim light, Nietzsche could see the snake nerves inside the wand tip.
“If he hadn’t changed his mind at the last minute, she wouldn’t be dead! And Voldemort wouldn’t have found their house!” he roared.
“Severus, but we didn’t know beforehand that Peter Pettigrew was an undercover agent within the Order of the Phoenix.” Dumbledore frowned and patiently advised, “Black only meant well but did something wrong.”
"Really? Even if he already knew Peter was a coward?"
Although Black had always regretted the incident, Nietzsche found himself inexplicably angry when Snape brought it up now.
He said, "If the plan had succeeded, everyone would have come to me, not a cowardly rat hiding in the sewers... He betrayed Potter, and that was his mistake!"
"Yes, it's his fault. His mistake was making friends with someone like you."
Snape's humiliation left Black feeling utterly ashamed.
Peter Pettigrew, unconscious and drooling, was caught between the two of them. He became Snape's weapon and Black's most unpleasant past.
“Admit it, you sinner, you're the one who pushed them up there,” Snape said through gritted teeth.
"Me? You saw his brain and actually started to sympathize with a rat? If it were Remus..."
“It was I who made the medicine for Lupin, it was I who endured everything—endured you, endured Dumbledore’s repeated requests, not you!”
After a few seconds, Blake glanced sideways at Nietzsche, then seemed to have made up his mind.
"Look at yourself... no wonder Lily left you!" he suddenly roared in retaliation.
"boom!"
"Iron armor protects the body." "The house collapses and the ground sinks."
Before he could finish speaking, Snape and Dumbledore attacked simultaneously, and the spell caused an explosion in the office. The potions on the shelf shattered instantly, and glass shards and potions were swept into the smoke along with several angry roars.
Everything happened so suddenly that Nietzsche could only bend down and squat behind the dean's desk, the shockwave from the magic making it impossible for him to even lift his head.
At the same time, he also realized how big the gap was between professors and students.
The light flickered in the smoke, signifying something unbelievable—Dumbledore and Snape had clashed.
“Calm down... Severus, aren’t we heartbroken by what happened to Lily?” Dumbledore said.
"He knows perfectly well what kind of person Peter Pettigrew is!" Snape roared. "The Shadowless Swordsman!"
Immediately afterward, Dumbledore used some kind of spell; a silver light whistled through the smoke, and Nietzsche saw Snape stagger backward, crashing into the wall...
The noise gradually subsided, and Nietzsche cautiously peeked out from behind the table, only to find that Peter the Pettigrew was gone, and that there were several deep scratches where Sirius had just stood.
Snape was panting heavily, gripping the armrests of the chair tightly.
Nietzsche really wanted to ask who 'Lily' was, but considering the dean's crazy behavior just now, he thought it best to keep his distance.
"Professor? What did you see in Peter Pettigrew's mind?"
Snape sat in the chair, just shaking his head repeatedly, helplessly holding his head in his hands, his fingers gripping his scalp, his head lowered, letting his greasy hair cover his face.
Nietzsche opened his mouth, but in the end, he didn't say anything to interrupt.
“Reparo.” He stepped in and mended the cracks in the office.
After a long while, Snape finally spoke in a hoarse voice.
“Peter Pettigrew… how could they possibly try to understand a coward, hmph… knowing full well what kind of person he is, and still doing it, just because of some so-called 'trust,' Gryffindor?”
"It was because of their boring trust tricks that Voldemort was able to take advantage of the situation."
Snape seemed to be talking to himself, and Nietzsche had to lean closer to hear what the Dean was saying.
Clearly, the dean felt that Black bore a much greater share of the responsibility than Little Star—Peter was Black's friend, and knowing full well who Black was, he still went and did it.
“You’re right…” Snape raised his face in a daze.
Nietzsche had never seen Headmaster Slytherin like this. His face, which had once been etched with coldness and disgust, was now utterly bewildered. He felt no joy after his revenge was achieved; instead, he was filled with emptiness.
"Trust, love, honesty, honor... everyone is playing that game. If only we broaden our horizons just a little bit, that's all we need."
That way, none of this will happen.
"What did you see?" Nietzsche asked again softly after feeling sorry for the medicine spilled on the ground.
“I saw Peter’s life, Holmes’ life, the life of a mouse.” Snape’s eyes grew lifeless with each breath, his tone eerily calm. “He feared Voldemort would kill him, kill his mother…”
"So Voldemort and the Death Eaters threatened him with his family?"
Snape ignored him and continued recounting everything he had seen in his mind:
"I saw a powerless man, despised by the professor and ridiculed by his friends, who of course dared not defy Voldemort; I saw a pitiful wretch forced to move forward, with no one willing to let him make a choice."
"Everyone is caught up in a fantasy, thinking they'll become heroes... The magical world is rotten, rotten! You're right."
Nietzsche had mixed feelings; he hadn't expected that Snape would be the first person in the entire school to understand his thoughts.
Looking again at the dean's slightly trembling lips, it's hard to tell if he's laughing at himself.
"Behind Black and Potter are families with deep roots, behind Lupin is Dumbledore, behind Sherlock Holmes... what's behind those ordinary wizards, swept along by the times?" Snape asked, lost in thought.
“We’re here, Professor,” Nietzsche said with relief.
Chapter 198 The Humble Lu Ping
After resolving the issues with Sirius Black and Peter Pettigrew, Dumbledore hid the two of them in a place unknown to anyone.
Harry Potter, on the other hand, seemed carefree, always carrying his Firebolt and rushing to the Quidditch pitch whenever he had a spare moment... Sometimes when Malfoy saw him, he would glance at him a couple of times, perhaps thinking about the wealth he once possessed.
Although the news about him has subsided, the students are not relieved, especially the third graders, who have twice as much homework this year as last year!
Even Nietzsche spent the entire Easter holiday catching up on his homework.
"Have you thought this through yet?" Hermione, between doing her homework and reading, also had to squeeze in a discussion about white magic. "I've already explained the core of the Patronus Charm to you, understand? You need to look directly into your heart..."
"I know, but that's all that's left an impression on me!" Nietzsche buried himself in dealing with the basilisk's scales.
He had been honest enough with himself; throughout the Easter holiday, he had searched his mind thoroughly, and was quite certain that, aside from complex ideals and theoretical knowledge, the only thing that could be described as exciting was this:
Hermione, the cat-like girl at Lady Patiffe's Tea House.
Unfortunately, that fleeting excitement only made the tip of his staff flash briefly.
But the Guardian Charm can't be forced; it's not something you can master just by practicing more. So Nietzsche simply put aside white magic for the time being and shifted his focus to alchemy.
"It's okay. If you encounter Dementors in the future, remember to stand behind me." Hermione patted his shoulder helplessly, deliberately provoking him.
If she were a cat, her tail would be wagging right now.
The biggest change was in Snape. Ever since he and Dumbledore got into a fight over Black, his mind has been wandering far away. In class, he just stiffly reads his textbook and doesn't even bother Gryffindor anymore.
Strangely enough, the Gryffindors, suddenly no longer bothered by Snape, were actually feeling a bit out of sorts...
"Could he have been possessed by Professor Binns?" Seamus couldn't help but gossip.
His voice wasn't quiet, but surprisingly, Snape ignored it, mechanically reciting the contents of his textbook without even bothering to open his eyes.
To be honest, this was the most boring Potions class they had ever taken. Compared to the monotonous, spell-like teaching, all the Slytherins and Gryffindors would rather Snape curse a few times, or even just let out a few cold laughs.
At that moment, Neville's crucible exploded.
Everyone watched excitedly as Snape walked towards them step by step... He's coming, he's coming...
However, he simply waved his wand silently, cleaning up the messy table without even frowning. The whole process took less than half a minute, and then he immediately turned around and continued reading.
“It’s over,” Neville said disappointedly. “Snape must think I’m hopeless. He’ll definitely scold me for doing something wrong.”
"Forget it, it's good if it can shut him up."
Ron sighed, unsure whether it was because of his friend or because of Potions class.
As soon as the bell rang, the others immediately shouldered their backpacks and left the classroom with suspicion in their hearts.
Nietzsche had originally planned to leave, but Hermione insisted on keeping him there. However, Snape didn't seem to care why the two of them stayed in the classroom after class. He simply threw down his book and went to the potions storeroom to tidy up.
At that moment, the most unexpected person entered the Potions classroom—Professor Lupin.
“Severus…” He looked at the two sitting between the Slytherin and Gryffindor tables.
Because the two of them were sitting on the dividing line between their respective houses, with Gryffindor to Hermione's left and Slytherin to Nietzsche's right, it seemed quite peculiar to Lupin.
After being at the school for so long, Lupin's body was no longer as thin as before, but he had at least regained his human form.
Nietzsche watched as he stood at the doorway with his head down, peering in for a long time before finally walking along the wall and tiptoeing to the storeroom door... presumably, he needed a potion again.
Hermione, however, suddenly tensed up and looked at them nervously, as if she was about to attack the professor.
"Have you forgotten about this month's potion..." Lupin said gently.
“That’s all.” Snape said without turning his head.
Lupin was taken aback by the decisive refusal, then sighed deeply. As he turned his head, Nietzsche and Hermione immediately lowered their heads, pretending to be practicing making potions for their final exams.
It is known that 'Snape and Potter, Lupin, Black and Peter do not get along well', and there is a 'she' between them.
"Really? After making potions for me for months, you suddenly ran out today?"
"Yes, that's right."
