"Rem? What did I say?" Shichen's tone was serious.
"I'm sorry, Shichen." Rem turned to face her and obediently bowed her head in apology.
"If you can't block it, why don't you avoid it? Stop being so arrogant."
"I see......"
"Alright, I'll take care of the magical defenses, so don't worry about them. Just take care of them quickly."
"Yes!" Rem swung her meteor hammer.
"Oh, right, leave one person behind, I need him."
"Shichen, why leave someone behind?" Emilia couldn't help but ask.
"It's very simple. These people are just doing the work; the mastermind hasn't shown up yet."
"The mastermind?"
Chapter 529 Sloth
Pushing aside the forest, they leisurely followed a dark figure running ahead.
“Shichen, are you sure he will return to the mastermind behind the scenes?” Emilia asked.
"Of course, what? You don't believe me?"
"Of course not, but is he really that stupid?"
"The Witch Cult members can't be called stupid; they've simply lost their minds."
"What do you mean?"
"They just follow orders without question. Now that the operation has failed, of course they have to go back and report."
"So that's how it is... Shichen, you seem to know a lot about the Witch Cult?"
"Betty told me all of this."
“…” Betty pursed her lips, but did not call him out on his words.
All he knows is how to shift the blame onto her.
“No wonder.” Emilia nodded; she knew how knowledgeable Betty was.
Living for over four hundred years is enough to command respect, since the longer one lives, the more one knows, not to mention that she was the administrator of the forbidden library.
The Forbidden Library—who knows if it contains any secret books, recording incredible events?
“However, I do want to establish my own witch cult,” Shi Chen said with a smile.
"Huh? Why did you form the Witch Cult, Shichen?" Emilia asked in surprise.
"Who told you to keep calling yourself a witch? If I form a witch cult, then I can support you, right?" Shi Chen teased Emilia.
"Ugh~" Emilia rolled her eyes at Shi Chen.
"Time!"
Listening to Shichen and Emilia flirting, Rem, who was lying on his back, couldn't take it anymore. She couldn't help but hug his neck tightly and press her full breasts against his back to make him aware of her presence.
"Rem, what's wrong?" Shichen asked.
"Hmph~ Rem is jealous!" Rem huffed.
"You're jealous? What should we do?"
“Rem needs compensation. Rem just did something amazing, and you didn’t even give her a reward. Rem is very unhappy.”
"A reward? How dare you even mention it? You've lost your mind and are still so arrogant. If I hadn't been watching over you, you don't know how badly you would have been hurt. What would I do if I felt sorry for you?" Shi Chen scolded him impatiently.
"Ugh..." Rem said weakly.
"Do you still want a reward?"
"No, I don't want it anymore..."
"That's more like it. I was planning to punish you when we got back."
"punish?"
"They're so disobedient, they need to be disciplined with a spanking."
"Spanking... Ugh~" Rem wasn't scared; instead, she looked forward to it.
"Rem?" Ram noticed that something was wrong with her.
"Sister, what's wrong?"
"fine......"
It must be an illusion, right?
They chatted casually as they slowly chased after the shadowy figure.
He's already marked him, so there's absolutely no need to worry about him running away.
A slender, dark figure moved through the forest at an incredible speed, as fast as the wind.
As if guided by something, he moved without hesitation or delay through the unmarked forest.
His figure quickly disappeared from Shichen's sight.
They continued walking slowly, and soon they arrived at the place where the shadowy figure had stopped.
A rock wall appeared ahead, its moss-covered surface quite striking, and the wall was so high that one had to look up to see it.
"Did we go to the wrong time?" Emilia asked.
Because there was no opening in the wall in front of us, it meant there was no way forward unless we climbed up.
“I didn’t go wrong.”
Shi Chen shook his head, then looked at Betty who was beside him.
"Betty, are you alright?"
"Don't worry, he's not the person I know anymore," Betty said calmly.
"I see." Shi Chen nodded.
"Shichen, Betty, what are you talking about?" Emilia asked, puzzled.
"Emilia, be prepared for the worst."
Shichen only gave a reminder before carrying Rem forward. When they arrived at the rock wall, he raised his hand and placed his palm on the rock wall.
Om-!
Suddenly, the rock wall that Shi Chen had been pressing down on vanished, revealing a dark passage.
"What is this?!" Emilia finally realized that there was a hidden world inside.
"Let's go." Shi Chen led the way into the cave.
Emilia and the others followed one after another.
The air inside the cave was extremely cold, and the atmosphere was eerily quiet, with only the occasional sound of their footsteps.
After walking for a while, the light inside the cave did not diminish, because there were white minerals in the passageway that were glowing.
"Time..." Rem suddenly spoke, her expression turning serious.
"what happened?"
"It smells like a witch."
"Well, don't worry."
"Yes!" Rem nodded with a bright smile.
Soon, they reached the end of the cave, and the crystal's light became even stronger, illuminating the entire space.
It was a place that was incomparable to any passageway; it could be described as a plaza. And in the center of that plaza stood the malice of this world.
It was a gaunt man, dressed in black robes, just like the last remaining shadowy figure of the Witch Cult beside him.
He was short and incredibly thin, like skin and bones, with dry, lifeless dark green hair.
They were so frail and weak that they seemed like they could be killed with a single slap.
However, his eyes were indeed exceptionally bright, radiating a mad brilliance.
"Oh~"
The man stared at Shi Chen and the others with great interest, his body gradually leaning to the right, his neck bending as he looked directly at them.
"This is really...this is really...this is really interesting~"
“Shichen…” Emilia couldn’t help but move closer to Shichen, grabbing his clothes, her pretty face showing a look of panic.
That man exuded an eerie aura that sent chills down her spine.
"Emilia, did you recognize me?" Shichen held her hand, offering warmth.
"Recognize him? Who is he?" Emilia asked, bewildered.
"is it?"
I almost forgot, Emilia had been asleep for about a hundred years, and she was so young at that time, and her memories were sealed, so it's normal that she doesn't remember.
“Jules…” Betty quietly looked at the man.
Speaking of which, that guy used to be her teacher, even though she's starting over.
But she was calm inside. He was no longer himself; he was just wearing the appearance of an acquaintance.
"There's no response..."
Seeing that Shichen didn't react at all, the man became impatient, put his right fingers into his mouth, and then crunched them to pieces.
"You...you wouldn't happen to be arrogant, would you?" The man asked, seemingly oblivious to the pain despite the blood and flesh hanging from the corner of his mouth.
“Time…” Emilia was startled by his actions.
Shi Chen held her hand, still looking at him calmly.
