"What are you yelling for? Even when you're angry, you've hardly ever spoken to me since we were kids. And now you're trying to scare others. Can't you just ask me directly?"
Anda's mouth clearly cannot function properly for objects with the suffix "son".
The other sons were all lost and found after being taken in; they had already grown up.
Old Ma was always there to supervise when they were being disciplined. He would scold and beat them, but they got through it.
He felt awkward, wondering if his inability to communicate normally with his son was due to the future battle with Horus, which had affected countless versions of himself across different timelines.
It's still a genetic issue—
Anda hardened his resolve; the future would require Primarchs to act as tools, and he couldn't hesitate because of the present.
Even if it means deceiving Erda into coming back to help him in the future.
He simply ignored Aaron's question and said:
"Let's get back to the main point. That Erster is most likely the possessor of the war demon we're looking for."
Marum finally found a topic he could bring up, and respectfully said:
“Master, once the location is confirmed, I will destroy the demon’s physical manifestation.”
Anda coldly said:
"You think you're Titan? Although you did well, when I'm bored, it feels like I'm watching a bunch of blurry, pixelated battle scenes."
"But the demons that were able to intervene in the early development of Terra's civilization, and were able to influence reality before even stirring up a storm in the warp, are of extraordinary strength."
Marum said confidently, "That's why its power could never be too great in the real world. Its real-world vessel is still just a mortal."
Anda's voice grew increasingly cold:
"The Ultramarines are always so optimistic about the situation, so when Guilliman jumped ship without hesitation, I didn't want to say anything."
"Listen carefully, that thing is very cautious, we can't alert it. Follow my plan."
Aaron could understand; that subspace was the domain of the demons.
As for Guilliman's defection, he couldn't understand it; it seemed like something that would happen in the future.
It has nothing to do with me.
Aaron complained:
“Father, I was just following your plan to stall for time and seek clues. Look, the reason we were able to find information about Erst so easily today is precisely because of my choice.”
"And you're perfectly fine now, not lying on that priest's bed."
Adachi's face, which had finally calmed down, turned ashen again.
"Enough! Rest now. If you dream about those rebellious sons tonight, don't bring anything back!"
"This world is fair; what comes, goes!"
But I am not a fair trading partner, my sons. I need to start preparing myself mentally now so that I can be ready to abandon you.
With a gloomy face, Anda went to the corner of the tent and lay down.
Marum looked at Aaron, who was also unhappy.
This father is utterly incapable of uttering a single human word.
"Go to sleep, go to sleep. My brother speaks so nicely, and he even cares about me and covered for me when I left."
Aaron turned over and fell fast asleep.
Only Marum remained, lying silently in the middle.
"Father, great Guilliman, please bless me so that I may successfully complete my mission."
As for why the object of prayer is not the emperor.
For the first few days after Marum arrived, the daily prayers of Astartes continued, and then Anda would wake up from his sleep with a startled look on his face, telling him to get lost.
He also cursed which bastard wrote those prayer documents, muttering them in his head like the snoring of that idiot Ruth after he'd had a few drinks and was asleep—it went on and on!
Chapter 23 The Trick of Eribas
Aaron opened his eyes and looked around; all he saw was a gray ruin.
Flames roared everywhere, and deep smoke swirled and twisted, gathering in the sky.
It just so happened that the weather was gloomy.
"Cough cough, did they burn down a city?"
Aaron looked around. The fortress had a strange style, with murals depicting filth, violence, and blood and flesh everywhere.
Countless human skeletons were subjected to unspeakable tortures, being arbitrarily pierced.
It was a fortress for the believers of darkness, thankfully, it seems to have been destroyed by the younger brother.
He struggled to climb out of the ruins and reach the highest point of the building.
Based on past experience, my younger brother is probably facing some kind of difficulty right here nearby.
Hopefully, this wasn't a serious injury caused by the battle; no, it would be best if I didn't get injured at all.
Aaron climbed to the top of a crumbling watchtower and finally saw a clearing outside the ruins, where a group of ascetics in robes were guarding his brother, Loka Aurelion.
The giant was somewhat tired and sat on the ground, one hand resting on the hammer.
A look of bewilderment appeared in his eyes, but he kept his head down and did not show it to the others.
Irebas, the bald man whom Aaron disliked, was driving another group of elderly and weak people, whose hands and feet were bound, to stand in front of Lojia.
Iribus's voice should have been clear and pleasant; he was a promising hymn singer, a handsome young man who could stand at the front of the stage during performances and be liked by everyone.
But when that voice spoke, Aaron instinctively felt disgust.
"Holy one, this fortress has been conquered by you. According to the guidance of the one true God, these are the children of darkness, the sinful people who provide support to the believers of darkness."
"We hereby offer you the power to execute these sinners."
Iribas bowed respectfully and offered up the snake-scale whip he was holding.
Aaron took a robe from the corpse of the only true God follower on earth, put it on, and held the corpse's hand in apology:
"May, uh, may Loka bless you with peaceful sleep. My father is unreliable; in mythology, the god of the underworld and Zeus didn't get along well either."
“Loga is clearly more like a god than I am, his older brother.”
Aaron couldn't find a god to bless these deceased people in a short time, so he had to let Loka come by himself.
As for asking his father to bless him?
Well, never mind. I have a feeling that if my father were to come and bless the deceased, something terrible would happen.
Not knowing whether his prayers would work, Aaron changed his clothes and slowly blended into the crowd, observing the changing world.
This was already the final stage of the war. The younger brother didn't seem to be injured. So what trouble did he encounter?
The sounds ahead grew clearer, and he looked at the old and weak, whose bodies were not adorned like the dark believers he had seen before.
They were just skinny humans who hadn't eaten enough.
Only the elderly and children remained, all staring blankly at everything before them with numb expressions.
Was it because the adults were considered fighting force and were killed?
Aaron looked at Loja, who was sitting on the ground. The latter silently got up and raised the hammer in his hand.
"Enough killings today. They are not worth being chosen by the Dark Gods, nor are they worth executing by me."
“Build sanctuaries on the spot, and conquer and contain them with our doctrines.”
After Luo Jia finished speaking, he turned around and prepared to leave.
Irebas became anxious:
"Luo Jia! You can't be so merciful anymore?"
Luo Jia turned his head: "Mercy? I killed hundreds and thousands of people today, and my heart never wavered when I shattered their skulls."
Irebas hurriedly explained:
“We can’t go on like this. Capturing a fortress, building a sanctuary, and spreading our doctrines is too slow. We should destroy all the fortresses of the Dark Believers in one fell swoop and unify Colchis!”
"Otherwise, while we slowly advance, countless people on this land will still be suffering torment from the dark gods."
Aaron frowned. It sounded like Loka's style of doing things was to take things slowly and methodically.
After conquering a city, they insist on completely transforming it before they will continue to advance.
Iribus pointed to the elderly and infirm: "I have no right to interfere with your decision regarding these people; everything is guided by the one true God. But I hope we can speed things up."
"If you wish, I can lead an army to charge ahead and expand our territory."
Aaron took a breath. Oh, so they want military power.
It turns out that dealing with the elderly and infirm was not the main issue; rather, it was that Iribas needed independent command of the army.
What is this guy up to?
Based on previous reactions, Aaron felt that Iribus was a guy with strong execution skills but also ambition.
Irebus's performance continued:
"Let us, in the name of the one true God and in the name of the saints, quickly resolve the suffering of our people trapped in darkness."
“At least you can trust Cole Fallon, give him an army, and you can trust me just as much!”
Luo Jia remained silent, and it was impossible to know what he was thinking.
After a moment, he put down the hammer and looked up at the sky:
"Your vanguard now begins, independent of my command. Erebas, may the one true God guide us on the right path."
With trembling hands, Irebas knelt down and then prostrated himself, demonstrating his faith and loyalty.
But who could know what he was really thinking?
Yes, that's it.
A large portion of the future Legion of the Cursed Sons will be led by him and Cole Fallon.
