Looking at the Kamar-Taj complex, with its courtyards, temples, towers, and other buildings interwoven together, Harvey posed a profound question.

Hermione, equally stumped by the question, looked at the distant Mount Everest range with a bewildered expression.

As she watched, Hermione suddenly felt a surge of anger and punched Harvey in the shoulder with her small fist.

"You useless, big idiot! Can't you even ask someone for directions?"

"Ouch!" Harvey rubbed his injured shoulder, speechless at being blamed.

Who did I offend?

"How could you be so violent? Don't you know that witches are supposed to be elegant from a young age..."

"boom!"

Without saying a word, Hermione punched Harvey again.

Harvey behaved himself after that.

Harvey rubbed his shoulders and walked forward, intending to ask someone for directions, he thought to himself.

I need to think of a way to alleviate Hermione's violent tendencies, otherwise how will I be able to stand it in the future?

The two walked for about a hundred meters and passed a courtyard with a sign that read "Training Ground" in Sanskrit.

"Shall we go in and take a look?" Harvey asked Hermione for her opinion.

Hermione didn't answer, her face showing some timidity, but she shoved Harvey.

"Then let's go in and take a look!"

Harvey, confident that he had the Ancient One's backing and extensive connections, fearlessly led the little girl into the training ground.

Chapter 16 Teasing the Mage King

It's midday now, and the sun is high in the sky.

Many monks dressed in gray robes were practicing under the scorching sun.

Let's practice close combat with sticks.

"Clang clang clang!"

The sound of wooden sticks clashing rang out one after another.

The two stood at the door for a while, then Hermione leaned close to Harvey's ear and whispered:

"These people are so hardworking, but do all the sorcerers in Kamar-Taj fight with wands?"

Harvey laughed when he heard the question.

"They're not holding magic wands!"

Hermione: “???”

Harvey explained, "They were just carrying ordinary wooden sticks, mainly used for close combat training."

"Close combat training?" Hermione was stunned.

"Mages...don't they all fight using magic?"

“Of course not!” Harvey shook his head and explained, “The sorcerers of Kamar-Taj practice arcane magic, which is fundamentally different from wizards like us.”

"First, to learn arcane magic, one needs to establish a spiritual link with Vishanti, the god of white magic in this world."

"Then, through meditation or prayer rituals, one can borrow the magic of Vishanti in order to use arcane magic."

"The magic of a wizard comes from within himself, and the use of magic, or spells, requires almost no cost."

Hearing this, Hermione couldn't help but interject, "So, using arcane magic comes at a price?"

Harvey nodded with a serious expression.

"That's right, the price can be lifespan, flesh and blood, soul, or anything of value."

"Therefore, the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj will not use arcane magic lightly unless absolutely necessary."

"Therefore, they usually train in close combat, and mages will not use magic to solve problems that can be solved with swords and clubs."

"That's it~"

Hermione felt she had learned something new.

There is actually magic in this world that requires a price to use.

Knowing that Harvey's goal was to learn arcane magic, she couldn't help but ask:

"Aren't you worried about paying a price for practicing secret arts and magic?"

Harvey was also stumped by this question.

After considering it for a moment, he said uncertainly, "A wizard's magic comes from within himself, so in theory, he shouldn't have to pay a price."

Hermione's pretty face was full of worry. "But if there's a price to pay, should we still learn arcane magic?"

Harvey replied without hesitation, "You don't have to learn it, but I have my reasons for having to."

"Why?" Hermione didn't get an answer.

A fat man dressed in monk's robes, with a typical East Asian face, yellowish skin, and a round face, walked over quickly.

The other person questioned with a stern face: "Where did you sneak in from? How dare you, at such a young age..."

With someone backing him up, Harvey, who fears nothing, interrupted directly, saying, "Sorry, I may have disturbed your training."

"But we came to Kamar-Taj to learn magic with the permission of the Ancient One."

"This is Hermione Granger next to me, and I am Harvey Ferguson."

"We'd like to ask how to get to the library?"

The Dharma Master Wang was taken aback and asked, "Have you paid your respects to the Venerable One?"

“Of course!” Harvey replied without hesitation.

"The Ancient One was moved by our sincere attitude towards learning and agreed to let us study magic in the library."

Staring at the two children who weren't even as tall as his shoulder, the mage king asked with a hint of disbelief, "Such young children, would the Venerable One really let you teach magic on your own?"

Seeing the suspicious look in the other person's eyes, Harvey had no choice but to draw his wand.

"Tarantella dance!"

A beam of orange light shot out from the tip of the wand.

The sorcerer was caught off guard and struck by the spell.

He started dancing a strange dance out of control.

In the training ground, many mages who were training saw the king dancing in public and cast curious glances at him.

Wang, looking embarrassed, quickly called out, "That's enough! Stop now! I believe you're here to learn magic."

Harvey crossed his arms and watched the fat man's comical dance moves for a while. Only after hearing the other man admit defeat did he leisurely wave his wand.

"The curse stops immediately!"

Having regained control of his body, Master Wang coughed twice and gave his fellow disciples, who were secretly laughing, a stern look that seemed to say, "What are you looking at?"

"What are you laughing at? I was just joking around with the kids. Keep training!"

Once all the other sorcerers had obediently turned back to continue their training, the Sorcerer King looked at Harvey and Hermione with a solemn expression.

He had made a fool of himself in front of his fellow disciples, and he never dared to underestimate these two children with wooden sticks again.

"Come with me, I'll take you to the library."

"But you are not allowed to attack me with the sticks you have!"

The monk Wang now has a psychological aversion to the wooden stick that points at him.

Seeing this, Harvey laughed and put the wand back inside the lining of his wizard's robe, apologizing in a suppressed laugh.

"Sorry, pfft! Haha! I just wanted to prove that we weren't ignorant kids who sneaked into Kamar-Taj. Your Majesty, you won't be angry, will you?"

Hearing Harvey address him by his first name, making him feel inexplicably inferior, the Mage King's expression turned somewhat unpleasant, and he raised his voice several decibels.

"It is impolite to call me by my first name; you should address me by my title."

Hermione, who had been too afraid to speak, saw that the king had a round face and seemed to be a kind person, so she mustered up the courage to ask a question.

"Master Wang, what position do you hold in Kamar-Taj?"

The monk was speechless.

Finally, he could only say in a bad mood, "I am the Supreme Being's assistant, and also... the librarian of Kamar-Taj."

"So, we should call you—Administrator Wang?" Harvey said with a mocking expression.

"Hmph!" Wang decided not to argue with these two sharp-tongued kids and walked towards the door of the training ground on his own.

Harvey and Hermione followed him toward the library halfway up the mountain.

"I'm sorry, Master Wang, I embarrassed you just now..."

Harvey apologized sincerely once again; he didn't want to upset Wang.

He might come to the Kamar-Taj library often in the future. If he doesn't get along well with the librarian, how will he borrow certain "banned books"?

For example, there is the Book of Cagliostro, which records the secrets of the Time Stone; a copy of the Book of Darkness; and the Book of Vishanti.

Harvey had long coveted these banned books, which had all been prominently featured in the original timeline.

On the way to the library, Wang accepted Harvey's apology, his expression softened considerably, and he began to inquire about the two men's backgrounds.

“I have never seen the magic you just used before. Even in the vast history of magic, there is not a single record of this kind of magic.”

"I'm quite curious about the origins of your two children. You wouldn't happen to be from outer space, would you?"

Wang had ample reason to suspect that the two children were from outer space.

After all, even if he hadn't seen all the mages on Earth, he had at least heard of the types of magic they used.
