Chapter 4 Muggles? Are they edible?
After hearing Harvey's story, Hermione quickly waved her hand, indicating that she was welcome.
Then, with her beautiful green eyes fixed on Harvey, she asked expectantly, "Can you take me to see that world?"
Harvey shook his head and said, "I'm sorry, we haven't learned magic yet. It would be too dangerous to go to that world rashly. It would be best if we learned magic first, and then I'll take you to explore that new world."
"Learn magic?" Hermione keenly noticed the key point in that sentence.
"You mean we can learn magic? Like the magic of the legendary Merlin...?" Hermione asked incredulously.
Harvey deliberately spoke mysteriously, "Of course, I believe you have also noticed your own unusual behavior, which is the magical surge that every wizard experiences in their childhood."
Hermione was now quite certain that what Harvey said was true, because she herself did have something extraordinary about her.
Her eyes darted around as she began to reminisce and murmured, "I discovered when I was seven that I could control objects to float, but this ability was unreliable."
"And now, I haven't succeeded in a long time, but just now, I succeeded again..."
As he listened, Harvey noticed the particular time, 'just now'.
Harvey asked somewhat uncertainly, "What you're saying is likely that I just experienced a magical surge, which means I also have magical talent?"
"Great!"
As he spoke, his expression became noticeably more excited.
Hermione asked, bewildered, "You only have magical talent when there's a magical surge? Doesn't everyone have that?"
“Of course not!” Harvey patiently explained to her, “In the wizarding world, those without magic are called Muggles. Only those with magical talent have the possibility of becoming wizards!”
Hermione asked, half-understanding, "Muggle? I've only heard of pumpkins and watermelons. Can you eat Muggles?"
Harvey explained, half-laughing and half-crying, "This is a term that specifically refers to ordinary people without magical talent."
"In the magical world, there are many special terms."
"For example, the discriminatory term 'Mudblood' specifically refers to wizards from Muggle families."
"There are also 'Squibs,' specifically referring to people born into wizarding families who lack magical talent."
"Death Eaters" specifically refers to the followers of the Dark Lord.
"The 'mysterious man' is a general term used in the magical world to refer to the Dark Lord because mentioning his name would trigger a tracking spell.
"The wizarding world has many strange and specific terms. You can learn about them gradually through several encyclopedias of the wizarding world, such as *Hogwarts: A History of the School* and *A Modern History of Magic*..."
Hermione listened intently, then asked with a face full of curiosity, "Who is this Dark Lord? Why can't we even tell him his name?"
Harvey deliberately adopted a cautious attitude, carefully looking around.
On the off-white walls of the room hung several childish doodle paintings by Hermione, and the wool carpet on the floor was soft, comfortable, and spotless.
The gentle afternoon sunlight shone through the curtains onto the several cute dolls on the bedside table.
Hermione's room is decorated with a touch of girlish innocence and romance.
Harvey scanned the room back and forth, seemingly checking for eavesdroppers, until he had piqued everyone's interest before feigning difficulty:
"I can't say. Although the Dark Lord has fallen, his name is an absolute taboo in the magical world! Unless..."
Hermione's curiosity was piqued, and she pressed on, "Unless what?"
Harvey pointed to his face and leaned closer until he could clearly see the fine downy hairs on Hermione's delicate face.
"Unless you kiss me, I won't tell you the Dark Lord's secret!"
Hermione's pretty face immediately flushed red, and she angrily reached out to slap Harvey's face, the force not too light or too heavy, probably more out of shyness than anger.
"I would never kiss you! Mom says kissing is something only lovers can do."
Harvey adopted the most sincere attitude he had ever shown and began to deceive: "There is a very magical spell in the magical world called the 'Loyal Heart Charm'."
"The principle behind this magic is that the caster hides a secret in someone's soul, and that person becomes the keeper of the secret."
"As long as the person keeping the secret doesn't reveal it, even the most powerful wizard won't be able to discover it, and others will ignore it even if they see the place where the secret is hidden."
"The only way to break this spell is to kiss the person keeping the secret on the cheek, and they will involuntarily reveal the secret!"
Hermione was stunned. Harvey's words made perfect sense, and she, who knew nothing about magic, couldn't find any flaws.
"But... is this really the only way?"
She hesitated, she hesitated!
This means there's a chance!
Harvey pressed his advantage, feigning nonchalance as he said, "Oh, if you don't want to know the Dark Lord's secrets, then forget it."
"After all, this secret is not suitable for too many people to know; it's a secret that concerns the safety of the entire magical world!"
Hearing this, Hermione's curiosity was piqued, and she hesitated for a moment.
A kiss shouldn't be a problem, right?
Anyway, don't I often kiss my dad and mom too?
And a cheek kiss is also a kiss on the cheek...
Barely managing to find a reason to convince herself, Hermione gritted her teeth, stared at Harvey's handsome face, and wanted to quickly stamp the document and be done with it.
Harvey seized the opportunity and deliberately turned his head to the side.
Before Hermione could react, she hated Newton's first law of physics more than ever before in her life, and due to inertia, she kissed him on the lips.
"Hmm..."
Hermione, her eyes filled with terror, struggled to push Harvey away.
Harvey, looking pleased with his successful prank, laughed heartily and teased:
"It's sweet, and it even has the aroma of strawberries from dessert. Aren't you afraid of getting cavities from eating so much fruit?"
Hermione covered her burning face with her small hands, so embarrassed she wanted to disappear into the ground. But then she remembered that the culprit was right in front of her and dared to laugh at her so brazenly.
Having seen how Hermione deals with her annoying father, she instinctively twists Harvey's waist hard!
"Hiss... Ouch!"
Harvey let out a scream.
The little girl's hateful blow made him cry out in pain.
Seeing Harvey clutching his waist in obvious pain, Hermione gave a smug snort and said triumphantly, "See if you dare to tease me like that again next time?"
"One day, I will make you know what pain is called childbirth..." Harvey vowed to himself.
Now that she had calmed down, Hermione's intelligence returned to its former heights. Her delicate eyelashes fluttered, and she asked with some suspicion, "Your secret isn't also a lie, is it?"
Harvey drawled out his words, feigning mystery, "Of course not! I do know some secrets that cannot be told."
Hermione crossed her arms, narrowed her eyes slightly, and stared at Harvey with ill intent, threateningly saying, "If you don't hurry up and tell me the secret, hmph..."
“I surrender!” Harvey raised his hands in surrender.
Chapter 5 Letter from Hogwarts
"The secret I know is that the Dark Lord, whom the magical world generally believes to have fallen, is actually not dead at all!"
"As for more, I really can't reveal any more, because this secret concerns the safety of the entire magical world."
"You should know that the last Pureblood Revolution launched by the Dark Lord already resulted in the deaths of thousands of wizards, and tens of thousands of innocent ordinary people were killed or injured."
"If the Dark Lord hadn't caused such a terrible impact, how could he have become a taboo in the magical world?"
"The Dark Lord could return at any time and try to start a second pure-blood revolution."
"Because the Dark Lord's targets are half-blood wizards like us from Muggle families!"
"Once the Death Eaters find out about your existence, your Muggle parents will likely be the ones to suffer!"
Hearing that the Dark Lord had cruelly killed so many lives and might even endanger her parents, Hermione was still a little scared.
She lowered her voice and asked with a serious expression, "It sounds like the Dark Lord is a 'fallen painter' who started World War II?"
Harvey said with slight surprise, "Your analogy is quite apt. The Dark Lord wants to eliminate all non-pure-blood wizards and create a new world in which pure-blood wizards rule over Muggles."
"Is this insane?" Hermione thought the wizarding world was truly madness; how could anyone want to imitate the 'fallen painter' and commit a massacre?
Harvey put on a serious face and said, "In the magical world, as long as you are strong enough, it is not impossible for the Dark Lord to succeed in slaughtering all of humanity."
But then, changing his tone, Harvey adopted a more masculine air, patting his chest and saying:
"But Hermione, you don't need to be afraid. Even if this world is ruled by the Dark Lord, I can take you to live in another world."
But the purple sweet potato spirit in the Marvel universe is even more terrifying than the Dark Lord...
Harvey silently added a sentence in his mind.
"No matter how terrifying the Dark Lord is, I will not be a deserter!" Hermione was young, but her eyes were full of determination. "I believe that evil will eventually be defeated by justice, and someone will always stand up to be the savior!"
Harvey was defeated by Hermione's naiveté, but the point was, I can take you to live in another new world!
Forget it.
He smiled helplessly and then told a funny story.
Do you know who the last savior who defeated the Dark Lord was?
"Who?" Hermione tilted her head and stared at Harvey with her beautiful pale green eyes.
Harvey said quietly, "It's a baby who's only seven months old!"
Hermione: “???”
A seven-month-old baby defeats the Dark Lord?
Even fairy tales wouldn't dare to write something like this, would they?
Hermione said she couldn't understand.
Harvey was about to explain when he caught a glimpse of Granger standing in the doorway.
“Um, Ms. Granger, I’ve come to discuss my studies with Hermione…”
