Yes, I saw it.

The future was revealed in the little guy's eyes and through his touch.

I saw one bustling city after another, and I saw those little guys grow stronger and more beautiful.

Even though the struggle continues and the negative aspects persist, more people are becoming happier and stronger. They are moving forward, no matter how many detours they take or how much they pay, they are truly progressing step by step, becoming hundreds or thousands of times stronger than when they were still alive.

And I truly felt the gift they gave me, which existed within them and in the soul of every single one of them.

The faint light gathered, from sparse starlight to dazzling starlight, until it filled the entire world, gently shimmering with every breath and heartbeat.

"Look, your gifts have already been delivered to us."

"So let's trust us and believe that we can usher in the future."

Then, with that gentle voice, the last regret was finally let go, and she was finally able to close her eyes and no longer exhaust herself as she continued to wait.

I'm sorry, little ones, I can't walk with you any further...

We have given you everything we could before...

From now on, I will no longer be able to watch over you, nor will I be able to help you anymore...

May you overcome all obstacles on your future path... May you... truly embrace... the future that belongs to you...

……

The last wisp of longing shattered silently.

With the last lingering attachment, he finally found peace.

Gao Hai closed his eyes, feeling the touch that gently caressed his cheek, feeling the gentle aura left over from ten thousand years ago, and felt only a sense of loss and bewilderment.

He had touched upon their last remaining thoughts and lingering obsessions.

He saw the fragmented memories they had preserved from those long years.

He told them everything he could tell them.

So they finally turned and left.

And so they ceased to exist.

Even if they eventually return to the cycle of souls on this planet, they will not return as themselves, but as just an ordinary life among the masses.

However, they don't need to come back again.

Because Gao Hai believes that the future destiny of mankind will be as beautiful and happy as they pray for.

So let me take care of the obstacles in our path.

Click——click——

The pitch-black world has begun to crumble.

The last force holding this world together has faded; the sinners have been punished in the inferno of the Black Watch, while the innocent souls have found release and peace. All of this has finally reached its end, its conclusion.

Gao Hai could hear the calls of Zhen Fei and the others echoing in the mental link. They had found the exit from this gradually collapsing world and the way back to the real world.

Therefore, it's time for me to leave.

As Gao Hai was thinking this, he suddenly felt a surge of power. Accompanied by a barely audible "Thank you" voice, which was a combination of a male and a female voice, he discovered that a new summonable person had appeared on his rescue team badge.

The new team members are a man and a woman, both of whom are ghost hunters.

Hmm, I didn't expect them to be a pair. And this feeling... it seems that these two team members can only be summoned together, not one of them alone. Moreover, the distance between the two individuals after they are summoned cannot exceed forty meters. If it does, they will dissipate and return to their badges.

"I didn't expect to get this much in the end, and why does it feel like the new team members are showing off their relationship a bit?"

Gao Hai, who had casually made a sarcastic remark, immediately activated Andres's Blessing and teleported to Zhen Fei's side. Together with the others, they traversed the only bright passage in this pitch-black space and began to escape this instance that was gradually heading towards destruction.

In the light that gradually enveloped him, Gao Hai saw something.

He saw the bewildered child wobbling as he learned to walk, and he saw the parents carefully supporting the child from behind, following closely behind.

The children laughed and giggled, encouraging themselves as they slowly familiarized themselves with the steps. The parents laughed along, encouraging their children's movements and carefully protecting them from injury.

And in a more distant place, they were also watching this scene, silently observing the child's unsteady steps.

Perhaps this is an incredibly profound part of their memories? So profound that even after they have departed, Gao Hai can still see this scene from the past in the end.

One day, their gaze will be gone, and they will no longer be able to watch over the children's steps.

But those faltering steps will continue, one step at a time, no matter how treacherous the road ahead, no matter how much it costs.

Just like the cacophony of countless voices echoing through the world today, like the wailing of an infant, we continue to tread toward a future whose ending is yet unknown.

Gao Hai knew that no matter what he would face in the future, he would continue to move forward without hesitation.

So he walked forward in that light.

Holding the hands of the girls beside him, he took a step forward with everyone.

After the last vestiges of darkness in the dungeon shattered, he was greeted by warm sunlight streaming in through the window, the sounds of pedestrians and vehicles on the street, and the ordinary, everyday life of the world, just like yesterday.

Volume 4: The Village of Infants' Cries

Finish

Conclusion of Volume IV

This concludes the fourth volume of the book, "The Village of Crying Infants."

Ah, finally... another volume has ended, finally... finally another milestone has been reached...

From March 12th to August 5th of this year, after more than 3 days, almost five months, this volume has finally come to an end. This is also the longest volume of the book to date, with a total of 160 chapters and 8 words. Although it only has a few more chapters than the second half of the third volume, it has almost 75 more words, which is quite an exaggerated amount of length.

To be honest, the sheer length of this volume surprised me as well. Although I mentioned in the conclusion of Volume 3 that the expected number of chapters was around 180 to 200, that was without intentionally writing long chapters. But with Volume 4's 750,000 words, if we calculate it based on the usual 2,000 words per chapter on Maoke (a Chinese online literature platform), it's already over 375 chapters. Hmm, that seems even more exaggerated now...

In short, I need to control this situation a bit, as writing longer and longer volumes is actually a considerable burden for me.

Regarding the story of Volume Four itself… well, I think I still need to reflect on it. There are actually quite a few parts of this volume that I'm not entirely satisfied with. While the setting of the three villages of Little Black Mountain with their thousand-year history is extensive, there are still many shortcomings in the specific plot arrangements. Some plot points are, to a certain extent, somewhat out of control, whether it's the arrangement of the Blood Flower plot or the protagonist group's exploration of the story and changes in strength. Many of these problems only became apparent after I started writing, resulting in numerous flaws in their subsequent handling. In this regard, I think I need to seriously reflect and consider.

As for the root cause of these problems, I think it might be because the story in Volume 3 is too long, and the fact that Volume 3 itself, divided into three parts, takes up too much space in the book led me to subconsciously want to make Volume 4 even grander than Volume 3, hoping to match the length and pacing of the massive Volume 3. This resulted in the loss of many details. I personally feel quite regretful about this, and it may also be related to the fact that this is the first time I've written a single work exceeding three million words. I still have much to learn and experience to gain in managing long-form serializations.

I wonder what everyone's impressions are of this volume. After all, everyone's opinions are different. I hope that this story, which I personally am not very satisfied with, will suit your tastes. If it can reach 70 points out of 100, I can breathe a sigh of relief.

Regarding the issue of horror, many readers have indeed raised it in this volume, a point that was actually discussed in the second half of the third volume. In fact, in my original outline, Blood Flower was expected to make a side appearance around the third playthrough, but because the protagonist, Gao Hai, had grown so much stronger, I ultimately decided to bring Blood Flower out in the second playthrough. Subsequent plot developments have proven that without Blood Flower's appearance, creating sufficient horror within the story is quite difficult. We could still find a solution to this problem in the fifth volume, but for the sixth and final volumes, we'll have to take it one step at a time.

Now that the storyline is more than halfway through, there's not much left to cover. It's estimated that the book will be completed sometime next year. To all the readers who have accompanied me this far, I hope you will continue to support this book until its conclusion.

So, finally, there's the question about Volume 5.

After carefully considering the pacing of Volume 4, I decided to divide Volume 5 into two parts. However, unlike Volume 3, the two parts of Volume 5 are continuous, without intermissions. In essence, the entire volume is interconnected, simply divided into two segments. This is primarily to avoid making each volume too long, and also to distribute the focus of the plot to some extent. The current naming conventions for the two parts of Volume 5 are as follows:

Volume 5 (Part 1): The Collapse of Reality

Volume 5 (Part 2): Emergency Admission Notice (Tentative)

Note: The title of the second half of the volume has not yet been completely decided. If any readers have any ideas, please feel free to leave a message here.

Some readers may have already sensed something amiss from the volume titles. Indeed, starting with the fifth volume, the story's pace will gradually pick up, and the slice-of-life interludes will decrease. It's fair to say that the interludes after the fourth volume were essentially Takami's last respite before his imprisonment. From now until the final volume, even if there are still interludes, they won't be the kind where the protagonist can truly relax and enjoy life.

Well, based on current estimates, I expect the first part of Volume 5 to be around 50 chapters long, and the second part to be around 100 chapters long. Compared to the excessive length of the second part of Volume 3 and Volume 4, I will try to control the length of the plot as much as possible this time. I hope I can succeed.

That's about all for now. Let's move on to the usual preview.

Why is my transmigration into the anime world a strange tale of rules?
