CHAPTER 51 – CAMPING

It takes about three days from the Hulc village to the town of Lease by carriage.
In the meanwhile, although there is a place to rest on the second day, they have to camp outdoors on the first day.
Approximately five hours after leaving the Hulc village, when the sky turns dark, the drivers stop in the shadow of a big rock.

「We will be camping here today」

Hearing those words, everyone got off the carriage one by one and started preparing for the camping.
Dirkhert and others get down the last and place down their baggage near the rock wall. And then, while they were preparing to camp just like others, one of the drivers called out to them.
That driver has informed them that since they have a small child with them, they have the first priority to stay in the carriage over the night. But, Meluerina has refused that proposal, saying that they will sleep outdoors.

「Dirk-sama, this is also a lesson. Today, we will sleep outside with everyone」
「Eh…… Outside?」
「Yes, outside」

Wouldn’t small children typically start crying after hearing that they will be staying outside all of sudden? Hearing Meluerina’s words, the driver couldn’t help but stare at the sole child riding in the carriage in worry.
Dirkhert restlessly looks around then he looks overhead.
The sky has changed to two halves where one half is illuminated with the shining stars, while the other half is still in a beautiful orange color. That gradation is very beautiful. Dirkhert looked up so much he could fall down at any moment.

「I see~ Outside~」

Saying that, he finally turned his neck from up back to the front. Holding the three stuffed animals in his embrace, he excitedly pyokopyoko jumped around.

「Sleeping outside sounds fun~! It’s full of exciting things like the sound of insect-sans, the swaying of leaves, the scent of grass and soil, the ceiling full of big stars!」

The driver’s worries were apparently needless. It seems that this little child has no experience of sleeping outside yet and can’t help but to look forward to it.

Hearing Meluerina’s words, the driver shot gaze to Volsung who answers him「No problem」. He lightly bows and leaves afterward.
As far as he could see, the two guardians were used to sleeping outdoors. And in case, there are two adventurer guards and other adults, it will work out somehow, he thought.
After that, the driver turned towards the elderly couple who have the second priority.
