CHAPTER 55 – CARROT

The second day after leaving the Hulc village. The first days was camping out, but on the second day, they will be resting at a rest area as planned.
Volsung most likely has a hand for driving a carriage as they arrived slightly faster than planned, so they are now slowly preparing for the night.
Meluerina and Volsung are also busy preparing meal and blankets to sleep the night.
Watching everyone like that, Dirkhert pulls on Meluerina’s clothes while tilting his head.

「Nee, Melu. Are we not sleeping outside today?」

He must have thought that they will be surely sleeping outside again. Dirkhert inquires with a slightly disappointed expression.
Since he has a disappointed expression, it means that he understand that they are sleeping indoors today.
But, now that he asked, I must properly answer him. Meluerina stops her hands, faces Dirkhert and answers him.

「Today, we sleep with everyone in here」
「So it’s not outside」

He says with a bored voice and embraces Volsung who is preparing a meal from the back.

「Uwa, that startled me…… Dirk-sama, what’s the matter?」
「What are you doing, Vol~?」
「I’m preparing the ingredients for dinner」

When Dirkhert peeks at Volsung’s moving hands, he finds several types of vegetables and the jerky from yesterday. And then, when Dirkhert found his hated carrot among the vegetables he frowned deeply.

「Vol, there’s horse-san’s feed mixed in. Dirk will give that to the horse-san」
「Carrot is not horse-san’s feed」
「…… It’s Thoroughbred feed」
「Thoroughbred is a horse isn’t it, too bad there’s not one around」
「Pony’s feed……」
「There’s no pony either」

It appears that this little Maou-sama doesn’t want a carrot in his meal by any means. Volsung wouldn’t really mind his meal without the carrot, but because Meluerina would get scary when she finds about it, he has no way of answering to the little Maou-sama.

「Dirk doesn’t! Want to eat! The carrot!」
「Don’t you always slip it into my mouth anyway?」
「I will give it to you today as well, okay~」
「Yes, yes」

What can I make from the ingredients at hand? Volsung thought while accompanying to playful little Maou-sama.
