191. Extra Chapter 1 Little Watermelon

Translator: Lena

Little Watermelon had been reluctant to have a brother before Little Candy was born.

However, the boy finds he likes his younger brother when he gazes at Little Candy through the glass. His little brother is like a new-born ugly monkey with wrinkly skin!

Little Watermelon feels relieved because such a homely child won’t steal daddy’s love.

Therefore, he starts channeling unlimited passion into his new-born brother till Little Candy becomes a plump and cute boy. Little Watermelon’s love towards his little brother ebbs away.

The elder boy even doubts that his brother has been changed by others in the hospital. He rushes towards Bo Yu who lies in bed decadently with a picture of his brother drawn by him. “Daddy, let’s go to the police office.” Says the boy seriously.

Bo Yu squints at the boy, asking feebly, “Why?”

“My brother’s been changed. I should find him.” Little Watermelon gesticulates, “My brother’s ugly, but this one is pretty. He can’t be Little Candy. I need to find my brother!”

‘Little Candy’s so ugly that no one will take him home. He might starve to death.’ Considers Little Watermelon.

He’s compassionate. Tears well up in the boy’s eyes. He crawls into bed and lies on his stomach, begging, “Daddy, Little Candy will die.”

Bo Yu almost jumps to his feet before Little Watermelon finishes his words, ‘My son’s been stolen!’ He doesn’t recover from a spasm of panic until his elder son ends his sentence.

Song Shilin enters the room with a thermal container in hands. He just observed how a nurse feed his son with milk. The man plans to feed his son by himself. He doesn’t come back with Bo Yu’s lunch until his little son is full.

Song Shilin is confused when seeing Little Watermelon be upset, “What’s wrong with him?”

Bo Yu takes his phone. Hearing this question, he burst out laughing, “He thinks his brother has been stolen. Jesus! Where are those photos… Tsk, I find them. Come here, Little Watermelon.”

The boy cranes forward to see those pictures. He is taken aback as he notices that there’s an uglier kid, “Who’s he, daddy? God, he’s disgusting!”

Bo Yu throws Little Watermelon a complicated look, “That’s you, remember?”

The boy is dumbfounded. He immediately shakes his head to deny that, “No, he’s not me! I, I’m good-looking. Trust me, daddy! Look at me, please!” Words fly out from his mouth like bullets.

Song Shilin hasn’t seen those pictures. Hearing that, he is curious. The man walks over to appreciate Little Watermelon’s “ugly photos” on the phone.

Staring at Bo Yu in an astonished face, the kid waits for the man to deny that. He wishes it’s a lie. Hope fills his eyes.

However, Bo Yu shakes his head, “It’s you. You were ugly. That’s real.”

Little Watermelon replies stubbornly, “No way. I couldn’t be that awful. Stop joking, daddy. It’s serious.”

After saying that, the boy lunges at Song Shilin for fear that Bo Yu won’t believe his words. Holding Song Shilin’s hand, Little Watermelon looks up at his father, “Father, that’s not me, right?”

“It’s you.” Song Shilin responds without hesitation. He is heavy-headed recently, so he doesn’t notice that Little Watermelon snaps when hearing the answer.

Bo Yu who keeps an eye on the boy’s face finds that. He laughs out loud in an instant. However, he explains after seeing that Little Watermelon’s face gradually turns pale, “No worries, Little Watermelon. That’s normal… Well, let me explain.”

The child, pale as death, gazes at Bo Yu. His eyes don’t sparkle anymore.

‘How come I’m that hideous boy?’ He roars inwardly.

“In fact, all new-born babies are ugly. Well, how can I make it clear? You father and I were ugly when we were born. No one could tell we would be so handsome.” Bo Yu is running out of his words, so he elbows Song Shilin who is checking his phone.

The latter raises his head in confusion, “What?”

“Your son is about to cry. Just explain the reason to him.” Bo Yu scratches his head. He starts to regret that he skipped biology in school because of laziness… ‘Wait, I’m a student of liberal arts which doesn’t contain biology.’

He remembers that he studied biology in junior school, but the teacher didn’t tell him why a new-born baby could be so ugly.

Bo Yu is stuck in an endless loop of biology.

Song Shilin glances at Little Watermelon, while the kid stares back at him. After the two look at each other for a few minutes, Song Shilin opens his mouth indifferently, “That’s the rule of nature. The boy in the photos is you and your brother is in the next room.”

‘This is the most accurate explanation.’ Considers Song Shilin.

Song Shilin’s explanation is the last straw, which breaks Little Watermelon’s heart. The boy sets his mouth in a grim line. He tries his best to hold back his tears, which is adorable.

“Daddy, will my brother become ugly again?”

The boy lowers his head to mourn for his life for a while. Suddenly, he looks up at Bo Yu with hope sparkling in his eyes.

Bo Yu misunderstands that the child is worry about his brother’s future life, so he replies without hesitation, “Look, appearance is given by parents. The Bo family doesn’t have an awful kid. Look at me. I’m gorgeous, right?”

Song Shilin squints at Bo Yu.

The latter continues confidently, “Your father isn’t ugly. Even if a mutation occurs in your father’s family, your brother will be handsome. Just look at your face!”

Little Watermelon bubblers out of the blue.

Bo Yu is in a daze, ‘What’s wrong with him. I just said he’s handsome.’

Frowning, Song Shilin doesn’t know what happened to the kid.

Little Watermelon can’t utter a word for a sense of crise engulfs him. He wipes his eyes and stretches his hands towards Bo Yu, sobbing.

Bo Yu impassively points at his belly, indicating that he just gave birth to a child.

The heartbroken boy turns to Song shilin. The man then scoops Little Watermelon up.

The child buries his head in Song Shilin’s arms, weeping for a long time. However, his eyes are full of depression even when he stops crying.

‘Alas, Little Candy will be handsome.’

‘He will steal daddy from me at that time.’

‘I don’t like him.’
