Arth barely managed to prevent himself from collapsing.
Arthur saw out of the corner of his eyes that the dragon keepers were hurriedly trying to find Saphira who had taken to the skies.
Good luck with that.
Over at the entrance to the enclosure, Professor McGonagall and Mr. Crouch were hurrying to meet him, waving him toward him, their smiles evident even from this distance.
He had got through the first task, he had survived.
"That was excellent, Kingscrown!" cried Professor McGonagall as he stumbled towards her - which from her was extravagant praise. He noticed that her hand shook as she pointed at him. "I've never seen a more excellent display of Transfiguration in my life! Splendid!"
Arth felt immensely weirded out by this version of Professor McGonagall as he rarely heard her say anything more than 'great'.
It felt nice though, although, it would be better if his head wasn't spinning around and around from the pain.
She coughed once before regaining her composure.
"You'll need to see Madam Pomfrey before the judges give out your score. . . . If not, you might just collapse . . ."
"Give me the score now please, or else, I think I'll pass out." Arth mumbled quietly.
Mr. Crouch hesitated before sighing.
"Then I guess I'll need to go back up. Minerva, please help Arthur stay up while we present to him his scores."
Arthur could see where the five judges were sitting - right at the other end, in raised seats dr.a.p.ed in gold.
And bit by bit, tiny pieces of memories started to resurface in his mind.
The memory charm was probably starting to wear off.
Scores are given out of ten from each judge, Arth thought as Madame Maxime raised her wand in the air. What hooked like a long silver ribbon shot out of it, which twisted itself into a large figure nine.
It must've been because of his dragon transformation.
Mr. Crouch came next. He also shot a number nine into the air.
Next, Dumbledore. He put up a seven.
Ludo Bagman - ten.
And now Karkaroff raised his wand. He paused for a moment, and then a number shot out of his wand too - two.
Arth felt bad but nodded his head at the score.
He was way too injured to deserve a high score. He was happy that he succeeded.
When Arth glanced at the leaderboard that was showing on a gigantic billboard, Arth let out a groan.
Fleur - 47
Krum - 40
Arthur - 37
He was in last place.
Professor McGonagall must've noticed that Arth was down, as she patted his head gently.
"It's alright Arth, you might be in last place, however, you showed everyone that you have the strength to compete with the others."
Arth nodded his head before wincing in pain.
His head was starting to really hurt and he wanted to sleep.
"Oh my, it seems we should really get you to Madam Pomfrey.
Arthur was walked out of the enclosure and taken to Madam Pomfrey standing at the mouth of a second tent, looking worried.
"Dragons!" she said, in a disgusted tone, pulling Arthur inside gently. The tent was divided into cubicles; he could make out Cedric's shadow through the canvas, but Cedric didn't seem to be badly injured; he was able to sit up by himself, at least.
Madam Pomfrey examined Arth's shoulder, talking furiously all the while. "Last year dementors, this year dragons, what are they going to bring into this school next? You're very lucky. . . You could've died. . . You'll need some time to recover... ."
She cleaned the cuts with a dab of some purple liquid that smoked and stung, but then poked his shoulder with her wand, and he felt it heal instantly.
"Now, we just need to deal with the burns, this will hurt a bit. Wait a moment as I get the medicine. Dragon burns is not an easy feat to heal."
She bustled out of the tent and he heard her go next door and say, "How does it feel now, Diggory?"
Soon, she came with a bottle of ointment.
"Here now, just go to sleep. Trust me, that will be better."
As she applied the burn ointment onto his wounds, arth get an incredible pain and fell unconscious.
