Coincidence Or Fate

Inside a room with the scent of sanitation, a man was busy checking on patients as he suddenly received a call. The man excused himself and walked out the room.

"Hello..."

As he listened to the person on the other end explain what just happened, the man's face turned pale as if he has seen a ghost in front of him. His hand started to tremble as he continued to listen in and said, "Okay..."

He could only say one word before he too collapses to his knees as he finished the conversation, the nurses around quickly run towards him as they witness the man collapse.

"Doctor, are you alright?"

The man ignored the nurse and quickly run outside, not knowing yet the gravity of the situation. As different people flagged the man's attention. He could only ignore them too.

At that point, those who were ignored by the man notice something must have happened, with the look of the man's face. As soon as they notice something was wrong with the man they quickly followed him too.

An ambulance arrived to bring out a wounded girl, and two women who were death pale and in tears. They continued to yell out the girl name as they followed her inside.

The man and those who followed him have finally arrived at the scene as they witness the girl being brought inside. As the it passed them, the man froze on the spot as he witnesses the dripping blood from the girl's arm.

Everyone stared at the girl on the stretcher bring brought by the paramedic, as they looked closer they soon realize who the girl was.

"Jamie wasn't that Angelique?"

"What Angelique?"

"Jamie what happened?"

Jamie finally came back to his senses when his friends reminded him of the situation, he did not respond to them and quickly run to Angelique side.

"What's the situation?"

As the paramedic explains the situation of the girl, the man clench his fist in hearing the bad news. The fact she loses too much blood is because she is anemic. He knew her well and seeing the amount of the cut on her especially on her head is just a sign she'll soon be gone.

As they entered the emergency room, the doctor's all discuss the situation for the operation as they nurse prepared all the necessary tools. Jamie was trembling as he tries to listen to what the main doctor was stating about the operation. Before the man doctor could start the operation, he notices Jamie dead froze on the spot as he stares blankly at the girl. He soon realizes who the girl was to him and understand how crucial this operation is to him.

"Get him out of here."

Jamie looked up to the doctor when he was asked to get out, he did not complain not argue. He realizes his presences was not needed nor will he be any help. Despite being a good doctor at his age right now the situation has been just to serve for him to handle.

As Jamie walked out of the door, the nurse and other doctor wonder why he was sent out all of the sudden before the operation.


"Doctor why did you send Dr. Jamie out?"

"Doctor isn't Jamie the best for this operation?"

The doctor took a deep breath and sighed as he said. "He is indeed very skill when it comes to this type of situation, but you see the person before us is someone that can change his career. If something is to happen to her this might be his last operation."

Everyone looked at each other as they contemplate on what the doctor was referring to.

Why would operating this girl cause Jamie career as a surgeon?

Who is this girl that Jamie is unable to operate?

As Jamie dragged himself out of the operating ward, he crashed himself into the wall as he collapses to the ground. His tears were overflowing as he felt shame and regret not just as a doctor, but as a friend as well. The fact he was unable to help a person in need, especially his friend felt like he was being stabbed in the chest. He clench his fist tight as he punches the wall and bang his head. The pain was too much for him to bear the he wishes to die.

Moments later, the man walked out of the operating room with swollen eyes.

Outside, Annie, Ms Lia was seated on the chair waiting for the result. When Jamie saw the two ladies, he notices that more people have arrived. The first person he sighted was a familiar man in black suit, he was standing their calm with a poker face. He walked towards him and collapse on his knees in front of the man. "I'm sorry, I failed to keep our promise. I could not help her when she needed me the most."

The man tried to hold his frustration after hearing what Jamie said. In all the people he expects to fail in life Jamie was not that type of person. All of the sudden his blood started to boil as he recalled all the past. He patted the man on the shoulder and said. "Keep your sorry, she'll be fine..."
