“Aunty.”

The woman was startled and hurriedly turned her head. When she saw a man’s deep and handsome features through the dim light, the original taut face burst into joy. She patted Wei Qing and smiled, “Hey, who is here in the middle of the night? A handsome guy! What can I do for you?”

Wei Qing stepped backwards uncomfortably and said when pointing upstairs,

“Is there a boy called Yan Chuyang living here? Did he come back today?”

The woman was stunned and then she understood, “Oh, so you’re here to see Yang.”

“Yes.”

The woman said, “Oh, Yang does live upstairs. He rented my house before, but threw a lease a few months ago. This afternoon, he suddenly came back and asked me for the key and said he wanted to stay for another two days. Yang is smart and sensible. I trust him and no one stays upstairs, so I accepted.”

Wei Qing nodded and said sincerely, “Thank you so much.”

“You are welcome,” the woman waved her hand and started to nag, “Yang has lived here for a few years. He looks so pitiful as he has no family and no one loves him. I usually treat him as my own child. I don’t understand why his parents were willing to abandoned such a beautiful son who also went to university!”

“Aunty,” Wei Qing couldn’t help interrupting the woman’s gossip. He coughed softly and said, “I’m his brother. I had a little quarrel with him today. The kid got angry with me and ran away from home. I was worried about him, so I came here to see him. So… Can you give me the key?”

The woman thought for a while, then shook her head. “You don’t have to get a key. He should be at home. You can just knock the door.”

“No,” Wei Qing explained, “I just saw window and light have been closed and turned off in his room. I think he’s sleeping. I’m afraid that I’ll disturb him when I knock on the door.”
