Dark Hunger

Chapter 46 - I Am Her Husband

Elize wasn't able to pull her gaze away from the fine specimen her husband was. Like, how could she not appreciate a man with that kind of build?

His hair was all damp, clinging to his neck and all those bulging muscles. She couldn't avert her gaze from the sculpted planes of his back and the way they tapered down to his narrow hips. Even the way he stood or walked—it was like power radiating off a king. He wore a dark leather coat and black leather pants. Beneath his open jacket there was a blue shirt that fitted to him like a second skin. The top shirt buttons were open and she could easily make out the firm planes of his chest. His clothes spoke of his richness and his style of how dangerous he was.

She gawked at him as he wore them all. He walked to the refrigerator, took out a bottle of water and gulped his content. She seemed to be transfixed by him as she saw him glancing at her from the corner of his eyes and knew that he saw her cheeks becoming red again.

Now that she had once again touched him, drank from him, why was it that she was getting attracted. And the way he gulped water down, way that drop ran down from the corner of his mouth, it was so fucking sexy, so masculine.

When he finished drinking, he said, "Do you like what you see?" he said.

She curtailed her awkwardness. Turning her head away, she said, "Well at least you are not so bad on the outside!" Damn, what did she just say? She added to mend her words, "I am sure women must be lusting after you." Shit. That added to her stupidity.

Caleb put his hands on his waist and then that smile appeared. That utterly irritating smile. "They do. All the time."

Jealousy flared. She thought she would combust, but then she got up and started brushing her hair with all the vengeance she wanted.

"We leave today before sunset," he said after her, walking to the lift. "I am going to check upon Laurel."

As soon as he left, Elize sagged on the ottoman before the mirror. This game that she was playing with him was dangerous.

Caleb hadn't returned the whole day. She checked her ruby bracelet and would turn it all the time on her wrist. It glowed often reflecting its beautiful crimson lights on her skin. She was fascinated by it. She didn't know when sleep took over, but when she woke up again, it was evening already. Elize went downstairs to the hotel shops to buy clothes for herself and realized that most of them were already closed. Only one was open from where she bought three tops only—something she could pay back.

In the evening after packing when Elize walked out of the elevator, she spotted the werewolf. He was standing in the driveway, looking straight at her. Laurel was standing a few feet away from him, talking with Auril. They seemed to be in an urgent conversation, but he was only looking at her. Leaning casually against his Austin Martin with his hands crossed across his chest and one ankle crossed over the other, he looked… handsome beyond words. She pursed her lips and adjusted her black shades.

"Hey!" a woman called her pulling her out of her reverie. Mavis. "I am so sorry for what happened yesterday!" She apologized.

Panic surged through Elize and she stiffened. "It's fine," she said in a low voice as she hurried.

Mavis followed her. "Why do you wear black shades at night?" That was what misled her.

"My eyes are photosensitive," Elize replied quickly. "Excuse me," she rushed from there.

Mavis gave her a tight smile and turned back to her group. She deserved no better reply, she thought.

Caleb's eyes became narrow when she was talking to Mavis. She steadied her breath and started walking towards the exit when suddenly she saw four girls going out of the main door. They giggled and stopped right in front of them. Elize gulped and stared at him to see his reaction. The girls started talking loudly and then all at once one of them said aloud, "Oh my god. It's Caleb Silver!"

Caleb's brows furrowed. Two girls out of them approached him, clicking their high heels. "I am Norma," said the one with black hair and tight beige dress. She fluttered her eyes. "I can't believe that I am meeting you!"

He stiffened as he slowly tilted his head as if saying that he didn't know who she was.

"Sorry!" the girl said in an excited voice. "I am working on a serial which is funded by the Silver House. I haven't met with Daryn Silver, but I can't believe my luck that I ran into his elder brother."

Elize saw his eyes meeting hers, and he said, "Nice to meet you. We have to leave now."

"Oh, I know how busy you are, but I really want to talk to you about my next project. Please, please you must give me some time," said Norma. How could she leave this golden chance?

Elize could feel her dismay. He was so handsome that it was obvious that women were attracted to him like bees to flowers. All at once she heard a low whistle from the side. She turned her head and saw two men giving her admiring and enthusiastic glances. On a second thought, she flicked her hair back and gave them a smile. The man became bolder and approached her. "How are you?" flirted one of them. From the corner of her she saw Caleb's expression darkening. If the girls were like honey bees around the wolf, she was no less.

"I am good," she replied. "And you?"

Before the men could say anything else, Caleb was already there, crowding her, towering her. He placed his hand on the small of her back and in a lethal voice said, "I am her husband." He meant, back off or I will rip you apart. The men cowered.

He forced her to walk to the driveway.

"What—" she protested.

He growled, "Hush, unless you want me to murder them!"
